Joe is certainly worth the money he is being paid regardless of what some fans like to think. He is reliable, hard working, never say never kind of QB. Other teams would salivate to have his kind of QB on their team. He doesn't put up the big statistical numbers but he sure has more wins than losses.
I agree.
Now look, we haven't had a winning season since the Superbowl, because you have to win more then you lose to have a winning season, so I don't see how you can say we can put together a decent team without doing Flacco's contract over, unless a decent team to you is losing more then you win!!! Because last year was a fiasco of a year, 5-11, is that what you call a decent team? Seattle had to pay out big money to take them to the playoffs!!! I just don't see you paying people what you pay them and you get top of the line players who can stay healthy and take us to the playoffs!!! I mean I hope we can, I just don't see how, because this is a hard game with a lot of injuries especially concussions, and I would not play for a little bit of money with the possible of brain injuries that could mess up my future after football or an injury that could make me a paraplegic, I'm just saying!!!
Ravens had a winning season in '14, (10-6) and beat the steelers in the playoffs. And, don't confuse lot's of cap space & wins. They don't necessarily go together.
he is due $28 million which of course is insane but if the fo chooses to let him play at that cap # than they better pray monroe stays healthy for the whole season and they find a suitable replacement for osemele or enjoy seeing flacco on his back several times a game, enjoy watching him throw off of his back foot for int's a few times a game and enjoy watching him get injured again.
How sure are you that if The Ravens lower Joe's cap hit, and with all that money, solve the LT position and keep Joe upright?
I still think Joe's contract is overrated. Media & fans think that teams buy their way, with FOs, to win games. They also think we lose games because we lost players to FO, because of cap restraints. There is no proof that either of these scenarios are true. Ravens let a lot of players walk. They, ( Ngata, Jones, Grubbs, Torrey,Boldin, etc) are on a list of worst cap hits per production. A lot of fans think Ravens would win more games if they still had these players.Truth is, Ravens won't let a player go, if they truly want them. And, that list is small.
*Sigh*....sorry, but if that's honestly how the Ravens view themselves now, "Joe Flacco's team"....they're hitching their cart to the wrong horse. He had his SB run. That's it. He has continued to be incredibly uneven since. And we NEED to rebuild what has been an incredibly bad defense (for the most part, outside of 2014's pass rush), since 2012. No coincidence what that year happens to coincide with either. The Ravens have always ever been about a strong run game, and a strong defense. We have lacked the the run game part 2 out of the last 4 seasons, and the secondary, at least, has been VERY bad since 2013. As in a hot mess.
If the Ravens really don't think they need to to build the team around the run and the D anymore, they're in for a continued rude awakening. Joe Flacco is not Drew Brees. He's not Aaron Rogers. And he's not Tom Brady (as sick as that makes me to pay that man a compliment). Joe is Joe, and he's never going to put up the kind of numbers to justify "building the team around him".
Maybe leave the predictions to the experts. " he's had his SB run. That's it" How the hell do you know! Where does it say that Brees & Rodgers have won more games & playoff games than Joe?
Ravens will extend any player they really want. They will sign tucker eventually, unless he falters. If K.O. & Upshaw are the "right player, right price", they'll sign both.
hate to be the barer of bad news but flacco is not as good as those other quaterbacks
It's not bad news. It's just your opinion.
Yeah, different situations though.
Yes, very different. Webb could have been released and would have signed for less with another team. Joe's not in that scenario.
it does I get your point but if the estimates are true say 8 mil that could get KO resigned and give you a little extra to go towards Tucker/Aiken. I hate how people pound Joe on this why don't they crush Brady and others even Suggs when he extended to get a little extra cap space
If the Ravens want to keep Tucker, Aiken & KO, they will. I could argue that Monroe is the better player at the better price than KO.
My guess is they'll keep Tucker & Aiken. They won't overpay for Aiken. He was the best receiver on a depleted receiver team.
"Restructure" is easy. We all would do it. Fans, and some media, are giving Joe too much credit for being a " great team player".And restructuring his contract does not make him a team player. Take a pay cut? That's a different story. The truth is, Joe's contract does not translate to wins or losses.
I said Joe's cap hit was overrated. The increase in the salary cap, over the last 3 years, has solved Joe's 28mil cap hit.
Question # 1. How can we get more turnovers? #2. How can we stop turning the ball over? Those 2 questions get solved and everything else will fall into place.
This cap "hit" is overrated. The ceiling has gone up 20 mil. in the last 2 years. That's enough to cover Joe's 28-29 mil cap this year. This will not hinder The Ravens ability to sign the players they want.
Philly fans thought Kelly was the greatest, a "Genius". They now, have run him out. Eagles will always be like this, as long as ownership listens to the fans.
Don't see much difference on the Jernigan hit on McCown, and the Upshaw hit,(roughing the passer)on big Ben a year or two ago.
I was a huge Colt fan. Broke my heart when they left but, you could see it coming. Being from western MD, a lot of Skins & steeler fans here. Some Colt fans moved over to those teams. The Skins were real good then. I couldn't like any other team so I just "checked out" for the next 13 years. Probably watched the SB every year, but that was about all I was interested in. When the Ravens came, I was a little slow in getting on board, but did. PSL owner since "03, and wouldn't have it any other way.
I don't get the criticism of Joe in the 4th qt. He gets his team ahead, and the D loses it. Then, he is criticized for not getting his team the lead TWICE in the 4th qt?
Babin will be more productive than Suggs, this season.
I have no confidence in Timmy staying healthy
Skip B. to R.Clark - " I appreciate your honesty". Settle down Skip. It's just a prediction
There's a number of reasons.
1. We stole our team.
2. Ravens are built on their D & toughness.
3. Other players with drugs, DUI, etc. ( Not the most by far).
3. Ray Lewis incident, Suggs, Rice, and now even the ex-cheerleader, and the security officer.
Geesh
Bert Jones finished his career with the Rams. He wasn't with the Colts, when they moved.
B. Billick, ROH? Yes, he should be there. Unfortunately, E. Byner should not.
Marc & The Ravens will do what works at the time. The score, team, etc. will dictate what they'll do. Bandit666 is right. If your teams sucks and you're trailing, you'll be throwing a lot.

Joe is not going to take less money to help the team. Brady didn't either. They extend the contract and the player makes more in the end. There is no proof that teams with lot's of cap space translates to WINS. Just look at Cleveland, among others. They have 40 mil in cap space and the 2nd & 32nd picks in this draft. Trust me, Ravens are not losing games because of Joe's contract.
