After watching SB 51 last night I came to appreciate Atlanta's speed especially at LB, namely Dion Jones. I know their D is a mirror of the Seahawks a couple years ago.....but man like it......up until Brady beat them up lol. I know DB and Edge is of the utmost importace but we will need to addess (IMO) inside backer. Is there anyone on ya'll's radar that has the dynamics to change/help our D. Maybe in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round Here is a couple on my my list:
- Anthony Walker Northwestern 6-1 245- Walker has speed. I saw on film him covering McCaffrey stride of stride. In a pass happy league thats a must. He is a consistant 100+ tackler and huge with tackes for loss. Boards have him going between he 2nd and 4th rounds.
- Jalen Reeves-Maybin Tennessee 6-0 225- He is a bit undersized but can add some weight to his frame. He very well may end up the fastest ILB in the draft. The stat from him that sticks out is his tackles for loss. He gets to the ball carrier fast and should do well in coverage. His workouts could jump him up a bit but is currently projected as a Round 4 to 6th guy. We like our Day 3 picks.
I know Rueben Foster is #1 but he will not be there at 16 and we have other needs.
What do you think and who do you got.
IMO....from watching quite a few games....David Njoku is the best TE in this draft. He looks like a 6-4 250 WR when he gets the ball and would love to see him Ravens purple. Howard has specs and skills....just not a ton of targets which makes me unsure. On a side note Jake Butt was injuried in his bowl game and as a result he will probably miss his workouts.......could pick him in the 2nd or later.....thats assumming his injury doesnt scare us away.
Ok before you see the short list.......don't shoot me with my #1 pick.....I will explain. Also this is not a mock....Just MY of what looks good to me in this early. Please tell mewhat you think or give me your ideas. Here we go.
ROUND 1- David Njoku TE rSo 6-4 240 Miami

I know some of you will be like What the heck? is wrong with this guy....a TE with the first pick. Let me explain my thought process before you dont look any further down the list. I personally think this is a weak class for CB's and DE/OLB's with the best Day 1 options gone by probably the 15th pick. I also think this is a weak OLINE class as well with 1 tackle and maybe 1 guard worth a top 20 pick ( We are #17 at the moment). So I honestly went with BPA that can help this team Day 1. Enter David Njoku....he is a beast. He is big, strong, EXTREMELY athletic with good hands. He honestly reminds me alot of Antonio Gates and is only a rSo. So lets get REAL...I explainded why we dont go D with this pick ( Maybe, I will list other options) with the blue chippers gone. There is no monster Olineman worth this pick and there are ZERO WR's at this pick (Those are our most stiking needs DE, CB,Oline and WR). So lets find another area of need and since we have a checkdown QB who loves his TE's let give him IMO the best in this draft. Currently we have Pitta who stayed heathy but forgot how to catch and is still an injury concern, Williams cant stay heathy, Gilmore is hit or miss and Boyle....well....plus Watson shouldnt be in this conversation due to age and coming off major injury. So to me......a gamebreaking TE is a NEED. Plus Ozzie like BPA guys......unless Howard from Bama is there. We know how he is with Bama boys.
Another possible option that should be available is: Jabrill Peppers S/LB again a need but where does he play. Again this is why I believe Njoku is a safe bet.
The UNMOCK list. For rounds 2 and 3 I have listed 4 players......all need but since the combine hasnt happened yet Ive seen these guys listed between the 1st and 4th rounds....so who knows how high or low they go. In a perfect world.......
Pat Elflein C Sr 6-2 300 Ohio State falls to us in the 2nd where I have seen him mocked around our pick to going in the 1st round....again perfect world

I believe Center is a huge need. Zuttah is not horrible but is not good either. I wouldnt mind keeping him as either a guard or backup guard/center. I think Elfein can step in year 1 and be our anchor for a long time. Remember the beatiful days of Matt Burk and having a Center that actually blocked.....well. Elfein gives us agood run and pass blocker and 2 young long term interior lineman (Stanley being the other) that we dont need to replace yearly....or weekly and obviously Yanda until he calls it quits. Not bad having to find 2 more starters going into next season with 5 on the roster to choose from. This should make Joe happy too.
Now the following names can be plug in:
-Tyler Orlosky C Sr 6-3 295 WVU
Another good Center should be there in the 3rd if Elfein is gone.
-Tre'Davious White CB Sr 5-11 192 LSU
Will be the in the 2nd and fills a need. A great tackler and plays the ball and not the player.
-Cordrea Tankersley CB Sr 6-00 200 Clemson
Will there in the 2nd and possibly 3rd. Long, athletic and can be great in man coverage when he stays calm. Has the size and tools to be good at the next level.
I know there are no DE/OLB on the list and can see us going that route too. However with IMO Suggs and DOOM both coming back and a couple young guys on the roster. I just think we could go this route. Give me your thoughts or better ideas for players.

I debated on doing one this early as things start to get shaken up after the combine and pro days but here is what I believe would help us and are going to be real options with our pick position. Let me know what you think.
Round #1
Mackensie Alexander CB Clemson
I know the debate is who in the 4 need positions do we go with at #6.I think Bosa and Tunsil will be gone and im not sold on Stanley as a NFL LT cornerstone. So where I love Treadwell, he is not a WR at a high pick like #6 imo like Cooper was at a Top 10 pick last year. I love VH3 but again not top 10 imo. Alexander has grown ALOT on me and after watching alot of film. I believe this guy is the real deal. Big, strong, fast and just blankets receivers. QB's just DONT throw his way. Like it or not...with the WR in our own divison we need a true shut down corner and Smith just fully isnt that. This guy is.
Round # 2
Tyler Boyd WR Pitt
I really really wanted to go DE OLB here. We need a pass rusher badly and I think IF Perriman comes back healthy and can fulfill his 1st round potential AND we can stay healthy....we are not hateful at WR. However I could not justify any of the normal names mentioned in the 2nd with our pick this early. I want Yannick to be there but his film doesnt support 2nd round imo. Watch his film...he looks like a better option inside then out... So I went with Boyd. He has tons of talent, goes after the ball and I think his ceiling is high.....oh and he broke some guy named Fitzgerald's records at Pitt. Plus Joe could always use another target. I will add this...if Robert Nkemdiche falls to the second. Thats where I would go.
Round #3
Karl Joseph SS WVU
This was a tough one for me. As much as I wish we could double up in the 2nd round but the 3rd intrigues me alot with alot of possible talent falling here. The guy i am going to list in the 4th could go 3 easily or with Joseph's knee injury....he may fall if he can't work out. Anyway this guy is a baller and just simple makes plays. I would be perfectly contnt with Will Hill ballhawking at FS and Joseph playing SS for us next year. Webb couldnt catch my grandmother at this point so it doesnt matter where he switches too.
Round #4
Tyler Matakevich ILB Temple
I love me some Daryl Smith but he is just getting soooo slow at his age ( still making plays though ). I hope Smith is brought back for 1 more year and what better replacement to post up next to Mosby but this years Chuck Bednarik and Bronko Nagurski Award winner. This very well be a reach as he will probably go earlier.....hince double up in the 3rd idea, but his size will probably cause a fall in his stock as he is listed at 6-00 or 6-01. Both I think are a stretch....im guess more like 5-11.....but the dude is a monster anyway, extremly high motor and makes all the tackles. Heck he even looks like and reminds me of a ginger version of one of my all time favorites Zach Thomas...come on look at him....neck and all.
Round #5
Deon Bush FS Miami
I know some people think he may go earlier but his tape and most experts put him in the 5th ( We will have an extra 4th too just in case ). Harbs and Ozzie stated Safety is a target but like i said at pick 3 we may be able to work something plus due to injury Terrance Brooks playmaking ability is still on the team. Bush offers all the phyical intangables but jumps routes to quickly and this hurts him at times Plus he always wants to make the big hit. I think with some coaching he could become a very servicable to good safety and an immediate contributor on Special teams.
I didnt do 6 or 7 cuz pretty much after the 3rd it becomes BPA. Also with not knowing for sure where our comps will fall. Alot could change.
Anyway I tried to be realistic as well as filling needs. I know LT is high on everyones list but with not knowing KO's status and not getting warm and fuzzy over any possible 2nd round talent. I went heavy on D because imo thats where I think we need the most help and tried to fill needs. Let me know what you think.
Freaking Rex... Why couldn't the bills fired him after missing the playoffs? Pretty weak
I know but you cant blame him. Smart move.
Wow......this has been mentioned numerous times on these boards about bringing Ed Reed in as a coach. Well, I guess we missed the boat as Rex scooped him up. Im happy for Reed and believe he will make a great coach but am a little upset that we didnt jump on this first. I mean with our DB faulters this year and to have his leadership back in the Castle.....how was this not an option for us. Oh well maybe one day.
as of right now we have under 4 mil in cap space so until things happen no chance instead of Thomas I would rather resign KO and play him at LT
There is nothing wrong with that either. Thats why I said some cuts need made or contracts redone was the only way it could happen. Let me ask you this then......if KO cost $7 mill a year which is not crazy.....which one would you want. The extra 2 mill is nice but I would say Thomas is still te safer option and worth the extra to keep Joe upright.......especially since KO gets hurt every year.
There are a couple of names that I am seeing thats not been mentioned yet. I beleive these guys are obtainable and can help us out NOW.
Cameron Wake DE- He wad graded a C so he is a maybe at best.....but man would that instantly change our pass rush need the second he gets here.
Joe Thomas LT- I know Ozzie and crew keep stating Monroe would be back.....but if you could trade for one of the best Lt's in football....why not try and hes listed as a B grade so there is a chance especially with the murmers of he may possibly demand a trade with all the turn over in the Browns org. I know I know.....9.5 mill against the cap but man...what a difference he would make.
There are just 2 names that I believe with some cuts on our end or maybe some contracts adjusted. We could afford them and make immediate changes to both sides of the ball. I also believe they are worth some draft picks as well.....3rd and down that is. Just a thought this also allows us to enter the draft with a different mind set and can attack specific positions like CB and WR. I know there are alot of variables and a trade makes this only possible prior to the draft........Thoughts
And then Ozzie (smartly but frustratingly) waits until the third or fourth wave of FA to pick someone up. It's tough winning that way in the long run.
I agree 100%. I understand the salary cap is a huge handcuff and injuries the past couple years have been ridiculious.....but with a few years of subpair drafts and picking up the average at best free agents......what do you get.....an average to subpair team.
I know this is off topic from the Ravens.....but WOW. What is wrong with the Browns. Now I am a die hard Ravens fan but I can always appreciate a good looking uniform and I have always thought Cleveland had a classic old school look. I can even appreciate when a team tries to update their look but.......did they mess this attempt up. At best these things look like crappy high school uniforms now. Jeeez, they just cant seem to get out of their own way. What do you think.
I believe Wenning will be the back up next year. I can see drafting a guy like Bo Wallace, Sean Mannion or Bryce Petty if they fall to like the 6 or 7th rounds......that's a big if.. Other then that they will bring in a handful of vets and UDFA for camp arms. So unless one of them shines. It will be Wenning and maybe a late draft pick as our 2 and 3......and that's doughtful considering since Flacco was drafted we have only carried 3 QB's once I believe. So......Wenning it is..lol

DJ Scott- CB- Toledo
Has the size and speed. He was so shut in his junior year, that this year NO ONE threw his way. He is not on a lot of radars due to lack of stats this season but like McKenzie Alexander in last years draft. Teams refused to go his way and it's hard to get picks when that happens. Great late round to UDFA pick up for a posistion we need.
