do you think there's a chance he's projected to go undrafted in the media circles maybe just because they don't have much/any tape on him?
That's definitely a possibility. I don't know that he's a prospect who's flying up the boards behind the scenes, and there's sometimes smoke instead of fire in the reported interest because teams are aware of it being reported, which helps your previous point about him potentially still going undrafted. I've just noticed over the past few years that there is a bit of a correlation between prospects projected in the mid-to-late rounds and their amounts of workouts. There seems to always be at least one example of a player projected in the late rounds who nets over a half-dozen visits and is drafted earlier than expected. It's not necessarily a nod to the talent level as it could just be a different grading/assessing method by the team scouts. Brandon Williams from Texas A&M is a solid recent example. He was touted as a 7th round selection or a UDFA, he saw a high amount of visits and was drafted in the 3rd round. This likely will be a bit of a sore spot, but I signed Tray Walker as a UDFA that year, and I remember his visit chart blowing up before he was drafted in the 4th. Nick Vigil could be named there as well, going in the 3rd. Now this obviously doesn't guarantee anything with Adams. He could conceivably go as high or he could go in the current projected range. And I can't say whether it specifically speaks to his talent being underexposed due to the lack of tape, as the level of interest doesn't necessarily coincide with the likelihood of him panning out. But it does seem to happen more with late round prospects and a lot of smaller school ones. In Adams' case, I was intrigued that he was worked out by the entire AFC North and a few other teams who've done well in drafting rushers recently, i.e. the Chargers and Falcons.

lol Sadly enough, I use that more frequently than I should.
8 minutes ago, rossihunter2 said:i dunno i've definitely heard of guys who are expected to go undrafted getting some calls and visits to let them know that there is interest in them if they make it to free agency
Those calls normally come during the draft. Teams have a finite amount of private workouts, with just 30 allowed per team for the entire class, and he's seen almost a handful of private visits. Combined with the pro day workouts, he's somewhere in the Top 10 in this class in terms of quantity if WalterFootball's list of visitations is accurate (Which I'm uncertain of as I don't rely on them as a source for assessments). Obviously that doesn't define his value. It's almost a certainty that a portion of the workouts are due to the fact that he's a small school prospect and some teams are just eager for a closer look. It's difficult to envision teams bringing in a player for a private visit if they expect him to be a UDFA.
There are arguably more talented WRs on the board, or at least some with higher ceilings, but I decided to opt for dependability in Taylor. He has some of the best hands in the class, with just 4 drops on 141 catchable targets last season. He's dynamic after the catch and he's seemingly ready to contribute as a slot receiver, of which I didn't have many. The small catch radius, lack of top-tier speed and short stature does limit his upside, but I'm comfortable with his floor.

12 minutes ago, rossihunter2 said:thanks for alerting me to him - he's certainly intriguing... he's a little undersized and obviously played against not great competition but he certainly bent the edge well, has a good-looking burst and pursuit and is often around the football - if he makes it to free agency i'd be happy for us to pick him up as a high target from what ive seen - i might have to watch some wisconsin or illinois oline tape though to check him out because i could only find him vs toledo and buffalo
No problem. I agree on all accounts. I didn't have the chance to see anything beyond the two small cut ups, which made things difficult. I've read reports about his ability in coverage but didn't find footage to back it up. Truth be told, with the amount of visits he's had bordering a dozen, I have a tough time seeing him fall into the UDFA category. Would obviously like for us to take a chance on him if he does fall there though.
Adams flashes on tape, which had my interest initially, but I am admittedly intrigued by the amount of visits he's worked out for. He's workout with 11 teams thus far either via private visits or pro day workouts, including us. Could be one of those players who's taken earlier than otherwise expected.

We'll be having the sign ups for the UDFA not long from now. There will be a 24-hour sign up period and the order will be randomized for every round. Feel free to participate and you can drop out at any time. The 1st round of UDFA will allow one selection, with up to two in the 2nd round and up to three in the 3rd and thereafter. We will also have an FFA period once the 7th round is completed.

Agreed as usual. Oladipo has a ton of potential. Just needs to work on his jumper and attack the rim more.
Glad to have you back. Agreed on all accounts.
I wouldn't be so down on Victor Oladipo. He's gotten more efficient every season, with his FG% and 3PT% rising in each of his first 4 seasons and his TOs dropping as well. Not a defensive liability. Solid starter in my book. Naming him as the Thunder's 4th best player is perhaps a bit low.

Thank you. Definitely agreed there.
21 hours ago, PurpleHorseman said:I know that. I mean going forward Ramsey will be asked to do things that young would never be allowed. I like and root for smaller cornerbacks. But don't compare Young to Ramsey. Because that is what it looks like you are implying although I know you know that Ramsey is going to be the better player.
The future change is precisely what I alluded to finishing my last post with the ending of my post being, "That likely will change in the future." We've been in agreement about the 2017 season and beyond, so there's no reason to continue debating the point. In fact, Young could lose time at LCB due to circumstance after the Brandon Carr signing. That being said, with regards to the 2016 season, I'll compare them as I see fit. There hasn't been a basis not to. Both performed well overall this season after early struggles. Ramsey switched between all three CB spots, Young switched between LCB and slot, with more of the former. Ramsey shadowed in a few games. Young didn't. Young faced better WRs. What pertinent information can you offer about their 2016 campaigns that make the them incomparable?
21 hours ago, PurpleHorseman said:Cherry picking is what you are doing to. Although you do acknowledge Ramsey is the superior player and will outplay Young next year by far.
I'm cherry picking because I'm unwilling to apply a season-long earned title of 2016 shutdown corner to a corner who was uneven in his first 10 games and terrific through his last 6, even when I'm alluding to the fact that he's likely to continue the latter trend? Which part of this is cherry picking? The part where I cover the entire scope of his season, mentioning the rough stretch and praising the fantastic finish, or the part where I make sure to state that it's probable that he has a better 2017? Your points thus far has been hinged on shadowing, while casually sidestepping the fact that LCBs are prone to covering No.1 WRs by virtue of the position, and height. There's a bit of irony in the cherry picking accusation.
I was wondering when Hollins would go. He's a bit of an enigma. Definitely passes the eye test, and he's likely to go higher than he has here based on how high he's been touted by a few major outlets. Worth a shot at this point.

Alluding to the fact that Ramsey had a terrific finish to his season but dismissing the notion of him being a shutdown CB in 2016 because he was uneven through his first 10 games is cherry picking? I would've understood had the sentence with the "In November" line been by itself, but the sentence prior about the first of the season is there to provide context. The stats given in November weren't from just November. They were his collective stats from his very first game until the time they were given. Unless you believe that you can earn a season-long title in a handful of games that erase and absolve everything prior, it's a fairly relevant misapprehension. I pray that typing out your current format isn't impeding your ability to comprehend the standard form of the language. Oh, and cherry picking is bypassing the fact that I stated that I personally feel that Ramsey will likely play as well in 2017 as he did during his stellar finish. Please try again.
15 hours ago, PurpleHorseman said:Young was amazing especially for an undersized rookie. But to be fair Ramsey is asked to do things that would never be asked of young. You will find Ramsey man up on Julio Jones,AJ Green and Beckham. That will never be asked of Young. And I'm very biased for undersized cornerbacks. Whether it be zone cornerbacks and especially shutdown man up cornerbacks. Butler is my favorite cornerback in the NFL. And I really like Tavon Young to. A very good player. If Young were even 5'10 190 he would be a pro bowler and maybe even borderline allpro
My comment was referring solely to last season. Moving forward, I wouldn't be surprised if Ramsey built on his immense success in December and continued the trend. He's the safest bet to be his draft class' best CB in 2017. That being said, with respect to their 2016 schedules, Ramsey didn't face neither Green, nor Jones nor Beckham Jr. Ramsey played in the slot against Green Bay in week 1 with Davon House at LCB with no rotation. Then they begun shifting him around between LCB, slot and RCB, which is an impressive feat in its own right and something Ramsey deserves a heap of credit for. But he wasn't tasked with always sticking to the No.1. In week 4, he lined up over T.Y. Hilton, Phillip Dorsett and Chester Rogers. The case was similar in their week 17 match up. He did shadow DeAndre Hopkins heavily as he did Amari Cooper. Young's placement was certainly more nondiscriminatory, but by virtue of Jimmy Smith being solely an RCB, Young was mostly at LCB with sparse slot duties, and the LCB is the No.1 CB spot where you're normally going to see No.1 WRs, i.e. playing most of his coverage snaps against Antonio Brown in week 9. With regards to just the 2016 campaign, their degree of difficulty wasn't all too different, meaning that we should be able to pan the two performances against each other on a relatively even playing field without it seeming far-fetched. That likely will change in the future.
43 minutes ago, Davesta said:Um... jalen Ramsey is lockdown. He's a diva, but a lockdown diva lol
Moving forward, potentially and likely. But he was highly uneven through the first half of the season. In November, he had given up 61.8% of his passes and a passer rating of 102.9. I feel that he'll be closer this year to his terrific finish to the season, but he wasn't a shutdown CB throughout the season.
