I question him a bit against the run but he looks pretty good rushing the passer and could do really well as a DPR, has a lot of explosion

While I don't see more than a DPR, I think he's going to be a darn good one. He looks unstoppable at times as a pass rusher.

Thank you, fellas. Helps to know that others like his potential as a pass rusher.

I might be in the minority here, but I think Price ends up being one of those guys that will have trouble converting collegiate success to the next level. I think this is a decent range to take him and its still a pretty good pick, but I got my doubts. He's really small for an edge rusher, height wise.

I understand the concern and I appreciate the complement. Truth be told, I'm more worried about the medical concern and the inconsistent effort level. With regards to his height, I feel that he constantly uses his stature as an advantage in tandem with his first step. From a technique stand point, it looks like he has the raw bases of the outside moves down pat. Be it the bend and burst, the dip and rip, I thought he put on a clinic during the North Carolina game alone (Link1, Link2, Link3, Link4, Link5). Amassing success against both OTs, Price forced them into short setting and hop stepping almost immediately into their pass blocking sets. The spin move on the OG was mostly textbook (Link). He's playing half the man, he rushes upfield on the guard's outside shoulder, he keeps his inside arm extended to maintain separation, then he waits until the guard shifts his weight into him, drops his hips, and plants with his outside foot to swing back inside. There was also a semblance of the speed bull rush (Link). It could use some polish as the third step push-off with his outside leg is somewhat rounded, but he effectively puts the overcompensating OT on his heels and pushes him into Mitchell Trubisky two seconds into the play. The latter sentiment in general is what stood out in my eyes because he wasn't a clean up artist or a second effort rusher but rather a player who could consistently win within the first three seconds of the play. It wasn't limited to just the North Carolina game. He also showed off the double swipe against Virginia (Link), or an aforementioned speed rush against Penn State (Link). He's also not a liability in the running game where he also uses his explosion and balance to his advantage (Link1, Link2, Link3) He has a fair amount of polish in the pass rushing department, which makes sense considering that he's an older prospect. The downside to his age is that he's likely filled out, but he has a stocky frame, and the moves he utilizes are arguably translatable. The James Harrison and Elvis Dumervil examples have been thrown around in almost every scouting report with regards to offsetting height as a negative trait, and rightfully so, but we've also seen the likes of Robert Mathis be able to consistently win with an outside arsenal while bending low to the ground (Link1, Link2). I'm certainly not name dropping those three as my expectations for Price. But I do like his upside, at least as a pass rushing specialist.

Good pick - I'd forgotten about price - am surprised he lasted this long though

Thank you kindly. The North Carolina tape put him on the map for me.

I do believe this is a good place for price.  Even though he is very inconsistent with his effort at times, I feel with the right coaching and motivation, coaches can put him in the position to succeed.  Good pick.

Agreed on both accounts with regards to the inconsistency and coaching. It's not something he can get away with at the next level if he wants to be a full-time starter, so I hope it'll motivate him. Thanks.

  5. Went with Price after some long deliberation. His level of effort when the play is nearing its end is questionable, and he slows down when facing double teams, but the flashes are impressive. He's explosive, twitchy, uses his height to gain advantage in leverage battles, has a plan of attack when facing OTs as far as counter-moves go, and he has an extensive range of moves. He could develop into a solid situational pass rusher and perhaps may challenge for a starting role down the road.

yeah lol - i realised i was spelling it wrong and couldnt find his name on the big board using the search function... so is this just for players who've already been selected?

Ah, that's understandable. Basically. We're essentially taking on GM roles, so we try to refrain from naming unselected prospects so that we don't lead others onto them as it would be somewhat self-defeating.

    Oakland trades:

Ben Heeny, LB (-.5 for Oakland/+.5 for Green Bay)

Jon Feliciano, OL (-.5 for Oakland/+.5 for Green Bay)

    Green Bay trades:

    7th (29) round selection

    7th (31) round selection

    Totals:

Oakland saves 1 Star, Green Bay gains 1 Star

Please correct the trade if I misunderstood the terms.
