It's realistic given our perimeters. Tell me: What's realistic about switching teams every single season, or not carrying over our past rosters to our future FMs? Nothing. Nothing whatsoever. But it would be extremely difficult, if not near impossible to be able to do so. Therefore, we are forced to limit our processes to a one year stretch, ones that do not allow restructures or multi-year contracts that can be at least somewhat back loaded, which coincidentally would allow us to plan for the future. The FM doesn't allow us to negotiate with players personally, or take into consideration where they would prefer to spend their futures, two variables that can heavily influence a player's decision. We will never be able to have these tools at our disposal because this is merely a game. Because of the circumstances described above, the notable FA targets are generally overpaid, something that also wouldn't occur in the real life process. Sadly, this is seemingly unavoidable with how this process is structured, or can be structured. If we do find a positive workaround that is fair to all parties involved, then I would certainly welcome it as an addition. However, creating a rule that does little outside of handicapping teams with the mediocre starting rosters for some misguided sense of forced realism is far from a viable solution.
