Poor draft classes and an inability to retain the players that do pan out stack up and eventually this is what you get.. a team devoid of playmakers. From 2008-2012 there are only 4 players out of 39 picks still on the team from 5 draft classes. 0 of those players are from 2012 only 4 years ago. Of the classes that should still be on their initial rookie deal Only 4 of 10 rookies from 2013 are still on the team, 2014 we hit on 2 picks and got two decent backups, and 2015, only a year removed, we have a grand total of 2 players that see the field Perriman (barely) and zadarius smith. Even this year it's looking like our 2nd and 3rd rounders are headed for bustville though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
Y'all can trust ozzie all you want and guzzle that kool-aid but the fact of the matter is our draft history since 2008 doesn't lie. It's sub-par for just about any team let alone one that always took pride in strong drafting, heck we pretty much have two GMs we should be able to do better than what we have
Also With all these offensive line issues it sure would be nice i we had ponied up the guaranteed money for Jake Long, not good enough for us but good enough to step in for the 5-0 vikings!
harbaugh with the game LOSING decision again.... we aren't the patriots, we aren't scoring 30 a game - when points are there we have to TAKE THEM!!! cmon man
Remember that time we pretty much had joke long signed but wouldn't pony up a small amount of money because of his injury history? Sure would be nice to have him right about now wouldn't it... instead he gets to go start for minnesota and compete for a ring!
Not a single word about Matt judon arguably the most dominant defensive player of the second half - kid was BALLING!!
bust all the way. good kid, no business whatsoever being a first round pick even at the time of that draft it was questionable. cyprien or slay should have been the one in purple and black at 32
guarantee spence was only lower on the board than correa because he isn't a choir boy
I love how they take the entire nfl.com posting and paste it in here EXCEPT the projected 4th-5th round draft grade. the "sources tell us" section says it all. REACH!!
gave up noah spence for a 4th. I like correa, he was my next choice AFTER spence as a pass rusher but man that is TERRIBLE to give up that talent for a late pick
Not the exciting splash pick but we needed tackle help pretty badly... Little disappointed we didn't trade back some when Ramsey got taken - this is a deep class at OT
@gek - elam is a strong safety, he was uncomfortable and fairly unsuccessful as a free safety last year. he needs to be moved to his true position. no reason we shouldn't have traded down from 17, other players that would have made sense: pryor, clinton-dix, darqueze dennard, trade down a little ways and grab stephon tuitt or morgan moses, we had options. Instead we have another alabama player that has some pretty serious injury concerns, he's been banged up his whole career. Look through our last couple drafts and let me know how much impact most of those players have had. 2012 - upshaw, average run stopper no pass rush presense - osemele, solid player as a rookie may or may not come back strong from a serious back injury, pierce can't stay healthy, gradkowski ranked as worst center in the league last year, christian thompson not with the team, asa jackson can't stay off the substances, streeter not with the team, deangelo tyson was a good value as a 7th rounder. 2013 - elam played okay at free safety, gave up a lot of big plays, belongs at strong safety, arthur brown we've apparently decided can't start with the mosely pick, brandon williams has potential and the rest of the picks have had 0 impact.
this is the kind of stuff that builds an 8-8 team or worse. ozzie has done great things for this organization but the fact of the matter is in recent years we have not drafted well at ALL. heck in 2010 there's only ONE player left on our roster. We aren't developing talent the way we used to, and I don't care how much people deny it and harp on how great ozzie is, we aren't gettin it done right now
wasted move. not the best player available, injury concerns, you take a player when we are 4 deep at the position, this was a complete waste. bama defenders rarely pan out. pick 17 was a chance to take an impact player, now our best case scenario is that he works out and we wasted a 2nd rounder last year on brown. either way we wasted a top pick. unbelievable
