I don't see Veldheer leaving Oakland.
Monroe is likely headed to Miami.
Albert is probably headed to Arizona.
Saffold apparently has a big market. Not sure where, but I doubt it's here.
That leaves Collins. I wish it didn't and we could just get Monroe back, but it seems like the most logical signing at this point.
Also B.Mac & Oher i suppose
So there is some options left haha
So far the options for LT is:
Collins, Veldheer, Monroe, Albert, Saffold.
The teams that need LT are: Panthers, Cardinals, Dolphins, Ravens.
Who else?
I would've never thought Monroe's contract would inflate this big after acquiring him last season.
Having a Ravens logo on his jersey definately help his stock. There's noway Eugene could've been this big of a name if he was still arond in Jags.
I have a feeling our FO already has all the potential FA covered. Measured by measure on all players by how much we are willing to spend.
We just have to see what happens next week.
Hey Miami somehow decided to upgrade Dansby with Ellerbe so Miami logic for you.
Don't forget the brilliant move they made on grabbing Mike Wallace.
yeah miami already came out and said they'll paid whatever to get monroe maybe even way overrrrrrpaying lie 58 million or 60 million which takes us out of the play for him.
That clueless organization really never learns. At least we get a guaranteed 3rd round pick if that is the case..
The big players for Eugene are dolphins, cardinals, panthers.
First two have enough salary to break the bank. Last one being Panthers are unloading bad players to grab one of top3 LT in FA.
They are desperate enough to overpay. Don't be surprised if we lose Monroe.
Jeff ireland can gobble up all the FA he wants.
Oh wait, his fired..![]()
Even if he does make it to 17, there's no way we can know if he's the answer. He could be a complete bust and we could be searching for out franchise LT for an additional 7 years.
Just trying to lay out possible scenarios. I don't think spending +10m a year monroe is the best ideal situation either. His not a dominating LT. His a decent lineman that gives out a definite sacks here and there.
I remember a game(forgot which one) last season where he gave away 3-sacks a game. That right there told me we 'can' do better.
Monroe is not end all, be all. We can't break the bank and panic. This scenario kind of reminds of what happened when we grabbed Dominque Foxworth. A decent CB that was billed as a decent player. We panicked and overpaid b/c 'thats what the market was paying him' and we screwed a pooch on that one.
Eventually we filled those secondary needs with drafts and trying other small name players via trade/FA. It worked...just saying.
I doubt it. If we don't re-sign Monroe, we have a hole at LT where we'd likely have to spend. If we feel that our LT is in the draft, it's possible, but I have my reservations about that being the case.
Its in the realm of possibilities. With a pick @ 17, we could land Lewan
Suggs might be the biggest hero of this off-season: 7.8m free cap. JUST WOW. The man did his job to be a true team player for the ravens this year.
and Moriarty.
His the contract negotiator. Ozzie usually makes the call on who to bring in/out in FA/draft
We're not going to pay a decent LT a 'mike wallace' type of money. Sorry, but our organization just will not be that reckless to spend a top 5 money on a decent LT.
As of right now, his getting all the hype in the media being the "#1 FA" But our FO isn't willing to go Jeff Ireland on us. I'll support our FO and stick with believing that they have a plan for us.
Don't lose hope folks!
Ozzie's going to get some bargain bin gamble of an LT and center. Oher will walk, Wagner/KO/draft pick for LG and RT. Half the board will proclaim him a genius for letting "over rated" Monroe go. If Oher stays that same half of the board will be retroactively saying how his time has come and he was really pretty good on the left sometimes!
Time and time again Ozzie finds a way to put the right pieces in. We had it worse than this, i'm not worried
Can someone please tell me everything's going to be OK and we're not going to try and re-sign Oher.
calm down. you still got gino..
Let's blow all the money on Byrd, trade up to get Robinson, and then have massive holes all over the roster
jerruh would love that
Monroe is wayyy overvaluing himself. Probably a reason why Jags dumped him b/c he won't accept an extension.
He'll be tagged. Were not breaking banks for a decent LT.
Just pay the man, no need to add to the off season positions we have to address
"Pay the man" hasn't worked for us. Rather have ozzie/FO use every minute to deal until it comes to last resort(tag)
If they don't tag him, I'm sure it's out of confidence that they can get something done before FA hits. Hell, they might be further along than we think on contract talks. You never know.
I just seriously doubt Ozzie is going to give up a 4th and a fifth rounder for a 1 year rental. Hard to find a top tackle and only at 26 years old.
I think at worse we tag Monroe. We shelved 2 draft picks for Monroe. If he doesn't want to get a deal w/ us, then its too bad on him.
He'll have to play under the tag or get a reasonable deal w/ us.
Ozzie won the war last year. The GM Ireland is fired. After seeing what the Dolphins did with Ellerbe last year and the news that they're expected to persue Monroe, Ozzie said "Screw that. Cut Jameel & Vonta. We're going to war"
"Right price, right player"
Were not going to be suckers on FA
Still no news about Monroe whatsoever.
March 3 is very near...
So, based on this tweet, Pitta would get the WR tag. This basically means that we have to get a long term deal done with him, because I don't see us tagging him at the WR amount.
Franchise letter leaves it to CBA, which says calculations are for “position at which Player participated in the most plays” in past year
Soon as we signed flacco to that ridiculous deal, every agent thinks Ravens can be dealt with their way. I never heard of any former Ravens filing for grievances.
That linta deal made us look like fools
Imagine, if you will... Pitta, Torrey AND Ebron/Mike Evans on the field at the same time. *Drools*
And no online = 2013 offense
Bye Pitta. Nice knowing you. Now to draft a productive TE with more than 1year of productivity @rookie contract!

Another (far fetched) scenario might be :
Pick up the last top LT in FA (after week 1 whoever is left) which is likely to be Colins. Then draft Lewan/Zack. Have Colin rotate w/ our top pick. If Lewan/Zack pans out, we found a bargain and set us up with a solid depth w Colins.
