Its pretty much been one of the most interesting talk in the past month. With 49ers sealing the season w/ no playoff hope, Jim is now a hot candidate for NFL/College team to vy for a tremendous coach that knows how to win. Michigan just offered him 48million/6 year offer (8m p.year avg), which would make him the highest paid coach in college. The downside would be that he is going back to college. Can you really compare fiesta bowls/pizza hut bowls to SUPERBOWL? Especially when the coach knows he has the talent to get a good team to a superbowl? Any other college team: NONE. There is no college team that can even sniff Jim at the moment. The only way another college grabs Jim out from Michigan is with a higher payday. No college has the size, fanbase, and history/connection that Michigan does with Harbaugh family. My prediction is that if Harbaugh CAN, he would at the very least look for a NFL team rife with talent that has tremendous history, fanbase and SUPPORT from both players and front office direly looking for a new direction. #1 team in NFL that might land him would be: Atlanta Falcons Upside:With a sub .500 division, rife with talent in many areas, Harbaugh could be a major upgrade to Mike Smith. Downside: Putrid defense that needs to be scraped from top to bottom. Including most of the defensive coaches to FO. GM is also another headache that has a history of having a terrible track record of drafting defensive players. #2 team in NFL: Miami Dolphins. Upside: Another team loaded with talent that can look for a new direction. The owner and the fans havent had a playoff season in over a decade. Joe Philbin looks to be on his way out with another dud season with a 7-7 record. Downside: Loaded division that looks to be competitive next year. Bills, New England has talents to keep dolphins at bay. Miami is a hard place for drill Sargent to live in. With virtually all players having access to nightlife and temptation outside of football in the city, it would be hard for a coach to put a focused/strict disciplined team in southside beach. #3 team in NFL: Chicago Bears Upside: Rife with perhaps one of the most historic name and huge fan base, winning a SB in Chicago would make Jim a household name in NFL lore. Chicago has ton of talent on offense and few talents on defense that a coach can build on. Downside: Tough fan base with high expectation, and a competition division with Lions and Packers, it would be the most difficult landing spot to top the division. #4 49ers: Upside: went to NFCC 3x with core players. Downside: Bridges are burned w/ top brass. #5-11 Raiders/TB/CIN/Redskins/Ten/Jags/Jets - Either a circus or impossible. Slim chance. What are your thoughts on where Jim would land?
