1st, who wasted their time to look up how many players the teams around the league have lost to Free Agency contracts?  I sure hope it wasn't our Front Office because they have much bigger fish to fry to get us out of a 5-11 season without Kubiak carrying the Offense.

Secondly, what kind of statement is that anyway?...."Hey look at us, everyone around the league is signing our players away from us!"  What the heck is that suppose to justify?  Maybe he should have said, "Hey look at us, our overall talent level is tanking and we won't resign key players and we can't really draft our way out of a wet paper bag anymore!"

What a self serving, inane, irrelevant statement and our fans are eating it up.

    We need new personnel

    Not necessarily the most players...

But the sum value of contracts for players that the Ravens had drafted and ultimately lost in FA is the greatest total among all NFL teams.

It definitely speaks to the fact that while we may not have drafted any Hall of Fame type players over that span, were consistently finding guys that the rest of the league values.

For those questioning Ozzie, Decosta, and Co's drafting ability that's a clear indication that the rest of the NFL disagrees.

More than any other team, guys drafted by the Ravens are viewed by our competition as worth paying market value or above for the position and more of a sure thing than what they feel they could get by drafting themselves.

Talent that this staff brings in - whether coaches or players - is highly coveted around the league.

The past 7 years are what Ozzies detractors point to when saying that he's slipping... Yet at a higher rate than any other team, other GMs are willing to pay a premium for guys that Ozzies getting with mid-round draft picks.

    --

the problem though is that it doesn't tell the whole story. What this doesn't account for is guys drafted that teams resign. So, the cream of the crop draft picks for each team that sign a 2nd contract I don't think are included in the figure.

So it could also speak to that while we are drafting more starter quality players that other teams are willing to sign in FA, were also not drafting as many must-keep, franchise cornerstone type players where other teams might be over that span.

So in order to get the full picture I think it'd be best to include the draft picks that each team chose to resign themselves as a part of their long term plans. Bc a team like Seattle who recently drafted Wilson, Sherman, Kam, Earl, Wagner, etc... who have resigned or will be resigning to big, long term contracts aren't included toward this idea of each teams market value of their draft picks from the past 7 years.

So it's interesting and it def says something to Ozzies detractors... But it doesn't exactly paint the whole picture. I do think it's a positive and lends a lot of credence to the idea that we still draft well and among the best, but it could almost be interpreted as a negative.

True! Great job at correcting me and explaining it all correctly. I view it as a major positive. Not only for our drafting record but for coaching.

lmao a lot to give up, but worth it ! two out of the three top prospects at positions of need.

No bullcrap, I would do it if it were possible lol.

Those two would would be the faces of our D for years and immediately throw us in the very top tier of teams. In fact, I would trade all of this years draft for just those two. We'd have to hit a few late round guys guys next year (which we might get a 3rd round comp for K.O.) - We would have no other glaring needs except for DE/Edge.

That can be a good thing or a bad thing.  Like if you said the Raiders spent the most on their players, we would all think of overpaid guys, but with us we don't think that way.  Although lately we have been overpaying/bad contracts.

But your right, anytime Collin Cowherd talks about great ran organizations he normally mentions Patriots, Steelers, Ravens.

No what I mean is in the last 7 years we've lost the most players to other teams who sign them away from us. We're a factory for producing overall talent and bringing in the right guys.

  5. I prefer Bosa to Buckner but part of me really wants to see Buckner & Williams next to eachother. That's an intimidating combo of size right there.

Also prefer Bosa to VH3 but it's definitely close. Could make great arguments for both and would be happy with both. I just give the edge to pass rushers vs cover men.

Would be happy trading back for Shaq if he were guaranteed to fall to us.

  6. So I learned in the comics it was Glenn. I doubt they follow the same path but I could see it. Plenty of good reasons for all of them. I think Rick, Daryl and Carl are the only sure ones that could be rulled out. Aaron & Eugene probably. Maggie too I guess. I take back what I said earlier.

Abraham, Michonne, Glenn in that order. Each one could take that first hit like a champ. If they don't have the balls to do it and take out Aaron or Eugene, I would have a real problem.

Ahhh so so many possibilities. Gonna be long summer.

I'm hopeful with Negan now. I know it was only like 10 minutes, but I like him as a character. To be completely honest, I find it very hard to be sympathetic to the main crew anymore.

I think the show is suffering from some staleness, too. It's a repeat over and over. Crew meet bad guys. Crew defeats bad guys. Here are some walkers. Crew meets more bad guys. It seems like a continuous cycle of the same thing over and over again.

Yeah they're dragging it out since how successful it's been. To each their own I suppose. I still enjoy it despite some flaws. Still far exceeds my standards of current tv shows. Besides Better Call Saul and FTWD, there's nothing else on that interests me.

That's something I forgot to mention and goes a long with the manufactured/poor writing that is putting these characters in these situations. Doctor dies and suddenly they have a reason to find another, which conveniently leads them to Negan and this whole mess.

Well, it is entertainment.. Divine and unlikely events naturally occur paving the way for the next one.

I think it's built heavily on the characters making bad decisions now. I feel like the writers have gotten to the point of just putting characters into these situations instead of finding creative ways and arcs to get them to these points. I think it would be a good show if they continued in that direction, but they keep trying to have these character development episodes and it's such a drag.

I don't know. I guess I compare it to shows like Fargo and Better Call Saul and if just doesn't compare.

That's fair. I think with the introduction of a new badass antagonist those arcs will present themselves more frequently. The way I look at it, the series has been at the point where walkers are no longer considered a main threat. They've become more confident and are more prone to basic human mistakes. It's been missing a great villain since the Governor. Not to say Terminus and the Police Hospital weren't enjoyable, just not like having someone you love to hate.

I hated watching the character development episodes in most of season 4 until I rewatched but I enjoy it more as a whole and how it all connects up to this point.

Really no one liked this?  We have the introduction of clearly the best bad guy. Not the action I expected but it was a pretty intense build up. I liked this season more than some of the last few.

I enjoyed the season overall. I wanted more action too but the letdown to me mainly comes from not knowing. I'll get it over it though. Very intense throughout.

  11. I've been re-watching TWD from the beginning these past few weeks and it's a much better show when you get to binge watch and not wait in between seasons.

Letdown finale, but I don't understand how anyone cannot still enjoy this. It's been this way since the start.

  12. Disappointed. 6-7 month wait after that is just downright evil.

I've guessed Maggie all the way up to this point but now my gut is telling me Abraham. The way he was driving and the sun glare in the background, wanting a kid, being close to Sasha(kiss of death) being the most physically strongest and showing the most heart. Maggie mostly because she's prego and in bad shape, they'll have no use for her and make Negon more evil

They've buttered them all up but those two just make the most sense to me.

Actor who plays Negon killed it. He owned it all the way.

I don't get where you guys expect Bosa to play. He's not gonna be a good 3-4 OLB.

I see him playing a Suggs role, defending the edge and moving all over whenever needed. He'll always find a place in our defense with the versatility he brings.

If you're saying in the hypothetical of Suggs/Doom/Z/Bosa/Spence, he'll be apart of that great rotation and eventually replace Suggs role full time when he hangs em up. (Which sadly could be after this year.)

I think we have a difference of opinion on what it means to "build an offense" around somebody. To me, it means changing your system/scheme to accommodate a player's talents, and then gathering other players to fit this scheme.

A top-10 pick can be a building block for years to come regardless of scheme. A good RB like Zeke could excel in a man-blocking scheme just fine, but it just so happens we already run a ZBS, which would work well with his first-step quickness. And we have an OC who already favors the use of a RB in the passing game, which would work well with Zeke's talent as a receiver. So in this case we really don't have to "build around" Zeke; his strengths fit the scheme we already have in place.

Well if we end up drafting a RB at 6, we better scheme around featuring him for at least the next 4-6+ years. He also better be among the very top in production during those years. If he's not, he'll be a gigantic bust that could set a franchise back....I get that he's a beast and I hate having to put him down but he's a luxury we can't afford at 6.

I think back these past few years of all the RB's taken late or through FA and the impacts they've had. Talent at RB is great. But scheme fit, players around them, age & coaching can make a good one look great and not cost the 6th overall pick.

I have to disagree that we would be "building an offense around a RB."

Trestman already has his offense, and we already have our QB. We would be adding the perfect talent to fit our preexisting offense, not building an offense around a talented RB.

Disagree. I look at players in the first round, top 10 especially, as building blocks for years to come. Players who will shine whatever the situation is. Unless a team is stacked on both sides would I view them as complimentary pieces.

I wouldn't be disappointed with Zeke at 8 or later for all of the reasons you said.

I mean, just look at how much the Steelers' offense regressed without Bell (coincidentally, Zeke has been compared to Bell by analysts). An elite RB can make a world of difference in every way, either by forcing the opposing defense to respect the run on passing plays, picking up blitzes, catching passes, or just running for first downs reliably. An elite RB can impact the game just as much as an elite WR; the main difference is that WRs last longer.

I think Trestman would be the perfect coach to get full-use out of Zeke's receiving abilities. He'd be like the new Matt Forte.

I do strongly agree with your last part on how perfect Trestman would be for him, however Bell was taken in the 2nd. Not 6th overall. And yes an elite back can make a difference. Up until they're injured, (and my guess is they're the most injured and shortest life position) or the game dictates differently, (still will have impact but minimal)

I'm aware it's a completely different scenerio but even if he lived up to AP's status, look at where thats gotten the Vikings...If we had a Cowboys oline I would understand it better. Just much rather take advantage at the rare spot were picking at and draft a game changing pass rusher, cover man or receiver.

He won't just make it better. He will make it more sustainable. Need a conversion to run out the clock? Running, catching, blitz pickup, he can handle it. Need to punch it in from the red zone instead of settling for field goals like we always do? Up the gut, around the corner, screen, or dump off, he's the guy

He very well could be the difference in every single 1 possession game we lost last year.

I don't like the idea of building an offense around a RB in today's league. Especially since how easy it is to find serviceable backs and the current ones we have now.

That would be awful reliant on a player who mainly relies mostly on the 10 infront of him and the game situation. Not to mention the heavy workload Elliot would be expected to endure scares the crap out of me. 6 is too high to invest in him since we're a team with a plethora of other needs at more crucial positions.

Makes me feel like a hypocrite liking the idea of Jack at 6 since the typical unwritten rule is no RB or ILB in the top half of the 1st, or even 1st all together, but Jack would be more beneficial for our defense than Elliot our offense, IMO. Both do it all at a high level but the way the league has become and headed plays a big part on my opinion.

..also because Jack could be better RB than Elliot if he really wanted to. ;)

I think everyone will be intrigued by him, but the Ravens aren't exactly known to develop project WRs, ever lol.  Im also pretty happy with the potential we have already.

I could see this. I don't think he gets drafted though and I think that will be to his benefit so that way he can pick what team he goes to so he can get the best coaching to develop.

I hate to say it, but I bet the Steelers could use him and turn him into something decent.

They are the 2nd team, agreed.

Im predicting 5th or 6th round.

  19. I strongly believe a trade back is most likely.

Would love it if we trade with the Rams and somehow still ended up with Treadwell at 15. Think Ozzie could get em for a 1,2 & 3 since they have two 2nd round picks and in this scenerio, added pressure to not let Goff/Wentz fall to 49ers.

I also have a strong feeling Wentz & Goff go 2 & 3. Either scenerio we're sitting pretty.

    Imagine all those draft picks.
