This debate isn't moving forward. It's clear that Wilson is far superior to Flacco, look at his stats.
Next!
Who do you think would be a good fit here? Who do you think doesn't fit what we are trying to do?
Well that's not really clear but this is going nowhere so lets agree to disagree.
.Theres alot of guys both in the draft and Fa that I would like.Which side of the ball?
Wilson is way better than Flacco. If the Ravens were down 31-0 at half to Carolina, and that defense your talking about. Joe would clam up. We have all seen that goofy stare into nowhere many times, where he is on the field and cant figure out, he still needs a Boldin type player to be successful.
Look other than his Super Bowl run The Qb position here in Baltimore has been suspect. Honestly I'm ready to get back on the QB carousel. The only reason being, I don't think we have enough playmakers to compete anyway. (Best DL) (QB, ) (Best Wideout) all coming off of season ending injuries. We don't have any (16 game ready) talent behind those guys. Safety position is terrible. We still don't have a linebacker that can cover. We need a more explosive running back.
All of this and you talking about letting your best O- Lineman walk. If this is true we wont make the playoffs next year either. If KO walks, we might as well start rebuilding.
Joe does have the deer in the headlights look.I'll give you that but your reaching with Wilson being way better.First off Carolina taking they're foot of the gas in the second half has a lot to do with Seattle making the attempted comeback.Seattle fought hard but if Carolina came in with half the aggressiveness in the 2nd half, that they did in the first, the score woulda been higher.Second of all,Joe wouldn't have thrown those ints but instead would've taken the sack like a deer in the headlights.Russell Wilson tried be superman and put his team in the hole that doomed them in the first place.Even during the comeback he threw so many ducks, overthrows, under throws and ground balls, while also making bonehead moves in the pocket,he killed some key opportunities. From superbowl to this season,Seattle is trying to shift the focus to Wilson and make it his team and as we all see, they don't have the same aura about them, because Russell Wilson is a complimentary qb.He compliments the system they want to run but he's not someone that you fully build around. The reason Joe has been "suspect" is partially his own fault and partially the personnel inconsistency on the field/coaching staff changes.Your freaking out way too much.We have some work to do but your acting like we're the titans or Cleveland.Ozzie and the crew have been slippin but lets watch and see what they do first before we say the sky is falling.
he has the ideal QB mold for sure.
size and big arm.
however wilson has a pretty big arm as well though but what he lacks in size he makes up with his elusiveness.
potentially flacco probably has the edge cause guys like wilson have a harder time to last long in this league.
they need to get him an o-line cause his body is going to break down at some point and he aint going to be able to dodge bullets for ever lol
Agreed
there isent much difference between flacco and wilson TBH.
each have their own strength and weaknesses but you cant go wrong with either.
There is a difference skill wise.I think Joe has more potential but never really has the chance to show it from a personal point.Other than that I agree with you there isn't much of a difference right now.
Wow What????? Wilson is way better than Flacco. I'm even a little upset you put them in the same sentence. In free agency we need to look at a Quarterback as well.
I think he might benefit from having someone that could potentially take his job behind him. I don't mean Ryan Mallett either.
You talk about Wilson's defense carrying him, he has been in back to back Super-bowls and a divisional round playoff game this year. What has Flacco done since the Super Bowl year? Take all of his years here in Baltimore and Flacco has been pedestrian with excuses.
We need to draft a QB. Not early, but we definitely need to carry three this year.
They are absolutely in the same sentence. The reason hes been to back to back superbowls is because of his defense. The reason hes in the divisional game this year is because of his defense and a missed field goal as we saw last week against the vikings.Flacco has done nothing because he has a defense that cant close and some of the most mediocre weapons in the league. Not saying Joe doesn't have his faults and does some head scratching things but don't be fooled by russell wilson. He's an elusive game manager with an incredible heart who can improvise on the fly.He has a good rb behind him who is the bread and butter of that offense and who because of his presence, allows wilson to have the success that he has for the most part. Also what qb would you draft?Lynch or Paxton?Nah that's alright.Unless its a Jameis/Cam/Luck clear cut talent, then no thanks.
There is a select few posters on here that actually think Joe shouldnt be on our roster, while that being cut or trade, which is just flat out dumb. Some on this forum arent huge fans of Joe but realize the supply and demand of a franchise qb, while we dont have Rodgers, we have someone far capable of winning in the post season.
If your waiting for the media to be all about Joe, dont hold your breath. There is nothing special about a qb who throws for 3800 yards, 25 TDs and 13 Ints on the regular (ball park figures). But come January, theres only one other guy you want instead of Joe, the media has noticed that, hence a nickname, January Joe.
Agreed. In regards to the media,i dont expect them to be all about him,but its just frustrating to see the passes other qbs that do nothing get but Joe doesn't.I would love to see Joe with the same OC and some legit weapons and see what he can really do.Hopefully while he's rehabbing with his injury,he can fine tune his mechanics a bit and tweek his overall game, both mental and physical.
saying russell wilson is not all that great is flat out ignorance. dude balls hard.
I'm not sayin hes bad or anything but hes not all of that.Still good though. He does ball hard to and is possibly the most elusive qb since tarkenton. He's good but when saying he's better than flacco is another story.I think we underappreciate joe because alot of these other qbs are flashier but in truth their really overrated.Time after time I can remember the media and this forum putting these other qbs above joe and time and time again they all fall flat on their face.I.E.-Ryan,Stafford,Kaep,Griffin,Sanchez, Schaub and the list goes on and we've seen them all fall.Joes not elite but he's above game manager and being a decent qb.I feel like him,Ben and Eli are in a grey area in the top 10 over their career. Not top 3 but definitely top 10 and possesing the ability to be top 5 though they may not be in it.They also possess the ability to get hot in the postseason as we've seen. Not knocking what you said but what we got is better than most in this league at qb.
Stop the fear mongering. Flacco isn't special enough to have him match the price of guys like Rodgers or Russell. Flacco will never top guys like that.
There are so much young QBs that are more pro ready then ever before and you can match Flaccos progression among any mediocre QBs in the draft right now if you give him the chance like we have, EASILY.
You can take your 1TD/1INT guy and fear we are going to be the next browns w/o joe . I'm smart enough to know he doesn't have enough talent to offset what we are paying him to be a elite SB contenders.
Agree with you about Rodgers but I'll take Flacco over Wilson all day.Wilson is not all that great and is surronded by a great team. Not the greatest offense but still.Joe was one of the, if not the main reason we won the Superbowl and won Mvp,where as Wilson wasn't and had a defense that carried him.
No, 2013 validated the fact that Caldwell wasn't a great play caller and the fan base turned on him faster than Cam.
Oh,my fault.Thought you meant it validated that he was a good play caller. We're on the same page then.
Sort of a myth though...
1. Caldwell was brought in as QB coach with as much experience as an OC and playcaller as I have. And it showed in 2013...
2. There weren't too many fans thinking Cam was going to get fired mid-season on a 12-4 football team. It was a pretty big surprise to basically everybody at the time. Certainly wasn't the foregone conclusion fans now pretend like it was.
On point 1 your right on the money, except it was 2012.With the second post,I gotta disagree with. The entire fanbase was callin for cam to get fired as well as many in the media realising his ceiling and understanding that with his conservative playing style and vanilla/predictable playing style, the ravens would only go so far.i do agree that it was a suprise that he got fired but more so when he got fired rather than the fact he got fired. It was after the redskins game and we were in a battle for the north with a few games left.
Why does everything need to tie into not trusting/liking Pees? If the FO thought Pees was not the right guy he wouldn't remain on the staff. smh
Great hire. Ravens are stacking the coaching staff with highly intelligent guys.
Because in a way it is.The FO may like him for now but this move definitely lets Pees know he needs to step up his coaching scheme and get better results. The same thing when Caldwell was signed in 2012.The FO said they were content with Cam but we all new Caldwell was gonna be the OC in case Cam did the same tired scheme and was fired. He did,was replaced with Caldwell and we won the Superbowl.
Webb is at FS, and we have Will Hill, and we'll have Matt Elam, and we'll have draft picks. No sense at all bringing in Weddle
Not trying to knock your post, but Weddle even at 31 and with his injuries is better than webb and elam put together.
I think one of the things overlooked about the defense is how much freaking youth is there.
- Za'Darius
- Davis
- Jernigan
- Williams
- CJ
- Jimmy
- Will Hill
- Urban
- Brooks
- Elam
- Lawrence Guy
All those guys(except for Jimmy) are under 26. That's insane. We have vets like Suggs, Webb, Daryl, and Doom. Shareece is in his physical prime and so is Lewis(who I think is cut). But that's it.
That defense is going to get better with experience imo. A few pieces are needed but development did occur at this point.
I expect a defensive turnaround.
I'm not worried about the offense. Even without considering drafting someone we have a decent WR corps when healthy with two good TEs and a few good RBs.
I agree with you with the defense. In regards to the offense, our wr core is worse than decent even when healthy.
I would love to have him here but we got no shot honestly. If we did get him, it would be our biggest free agency signing ever. Calvin? Steve Smith Sr.? And add Perriman too?! With our two TEs in Gilmore and Williams?! Yeah, its a wrap.
Even with that,i'd like ozzie to add something to our future down the line to go alongside Perriman by getting Boyd/Doctson in the draft in the 2nd. ![]()
All this hype for the guy, if we draft him and he doesn't immediately have a big impact in calling yall out.
For real.He better be all pro his rookie year like mosley or zach martin was
Before the Rams game I figured the Ravens would win enough to miss out on a chance a Bosa. Now, I think it'll be a shock if they win more than one more with pick 6 Schaub at the helm. Add in that comp picks will be cleared for trades and the fact we likely end up in the top 3 regardless now, we very well may have a shot a Bosa.
I want Hargreaves the most but if Will Davis can play as well as he was before his injury, Jimmy can get healthier, and Wright can keep up how he's been playing, CB may not be that big of an issue. Especially since a pass rush would help them out
I think even with Davis back and even if he plays at that level, we still need a cb or two and can't overestimate the secondary anymore.Im with you,I want Hargreaves the most.
I do not want sanu or Jones. Other teams #3 or 4 receiving option is no way to fix WR problems. I liked sanu out of college. He played faster than his computer numbers. But this year he looks considerably slower!! He actually looks like a 4.7 receiver now. Jackson will be 33 and Garcon's big year is a distant memory and he is 30-31 as well. No thanx!! Some players have enough speed to lose a step and still be more explosive than most. Garcon is not that receiver. I do agree receiver needs to be addressed big seriously!! But no more #3 options or declining receivers!!
I'm with you.I dont get the infatuation with Sanu and Jones on this board. Also never been a Pierre Garcon fan in the least.I think VJax could be a viable option on a short contract.
Watching the bills play now,its ironic how the year tyrod leaves,Joe goes down.smh
I disagree a little bit on this. Yes we are not a top 5 pick away from turning our whole team around, but we are ONE offseason away from contending. Realistically Joe "could" be back sometime in late July early August and Suggs, SSS (if he returns), Perriman and Forsett should all be back before him. A top 5 pick will help us tremendously and we should have some money to spend this offseason. Despite all these injuries this team continues to fight and a lot of our players are improving each game. I may be naive, but I believe the Ravens will be contenders in 2016 as long as Flacco is our starting QB.
We have had the worst injury luck in franchise history this year, 2016 can only be better right?
This! Were having a down year but this offseason with the cap space we can potentially have and the picks we may have,we have the tools to stay as contenders. In addition, the guys we're getting back next year, the development of key positions we have such as our te's.Also possibly the biggest factor, which is Oz,Jon,Eric seeing that this staff, our disciplinary issues and they way the put this team together for this season has completely blown up in their face,a long look in the mirror for them is inevitable and heads will roll with accountability being paramount. This seasons bad from a winning perspective but it might be the slap in the face this franchise needs to get back to its old ways while still being open to new trends in an ever changing league. Our FO has been slipping, but i got no doubt in their ability to fix it.
He is our QB Mom Gene and he will be the next few years too. I think this is only going to make him stronger. Joe has never had to face this type of situation in the pro's yet but I expect him to meet it head on and come out of this growing process stronger and more refreshed. Plus I really think this is going to help / force Oz to get more weapons for Joe.
I was thinking the same thing in regards to the weapons. This sucks but maybe this might actually wake ozzie up to go and put some prime receiving talent(sans TE)around joe.
Really hope this has no carryover into next season. Look at Brady though, tore his ACL and came back and didn't skip a beat. Only difference is his ACL was in week 2, Joe won't have quite that much time to rehab. Looks like we'll get a massive restructure with him this offseason and a top 3 pick position.
But look at Phillip Rivers.Tore his in january and came back to start the next season and had a good year.
I can see a WR on draft day, however probably one that will never make the cut. Every single year we draft one in the 5th, 6th, 7th round that usually that was projected in earlier rounds but has injury or some kind of issue so they fell in the draft, and we draft em thinking they can turn it around I guess, and be a solid player. I honestly dont know why every single year we draft a DE or OLB even though we have solid players at those positions. Its ppl like the OP that say draft a DE, then later talk about how Flacco isnt worth his contract, even though he has no one to throw to
This!!
You spelled "Vernon Hargreaves" wrong.
lmao.I was thinking the same thing.
Meanwhile Stefon Diggs has 507 receiving yards already. I wasn't high on Diggs or BP, but one of them is atleast proving me wrong.
I wanted diggs real bad.Watched the draft and wondered why we didn't pick him.literally could of been had in the 4th instead of waller.

I agree with everything you said but truth be told I'm not that high on Camp.Never really thought he was anything special beside a returner or a last receiver in a bench rotation type guy, though I do see what your saying and hope that your right.
