If you notice that 2 years ago was an injury filled mess and that this year was close before the Ravens best defensive player went down and that they have overall a pretty good core for the next few years I would say they are certainly trending upward. I dont know where this negativity comes from but they are going to be better next year then this year and they were a playoff level team this year (ask the Dolphins how good the Ravens are) which is the definition of trending upward.
My point its not like we've competed for a SB recently. Someone was saying he was giving up his shot at a SB. No underlying meaning. So of we're not in the running and have these holes (which we have a decent amount of) why not make the most you can?
12 hours ago, GrimCoconut said:Right, because KO didn't sign with a winner and nearly make the Super Bowl himself.
We haven't made playoffs in 2 years. As much as I want to believe well compete, the signs are pointing down currently. This is a business and the team will make it very clear soon when we start making cuts.

Maybe, right now, his mind-set is if I'm not going to be the highest paid RT right now, then I'm sure I can be if I hit the market. In that sense he's probably not listening much to the Ravens because he knows that they won't honor what he wants and thats being the highest paid RT period, even more than Lane.
. My question is what team is willing to do that? Cleveland with a dumpster fire of a FO wasn't willing to pay the NO.2 RT in Football, but then again they actually operate under the cap better than given credit for. It only takes one to overpay someone. I'll sit back and watch this go down but I don't think he leaves, I'm holding out hope.
Jags need OL help and have a bunch of cap. He'll find a team quickly that's willing to pay.
If we can land Marshall and Mangold, I guarantee these losses will be forgotten. Center and wr are more important at this point.

do you not remember when polamalu, kiesel, heath, ward, Hampton, foote, farrior, gay, and Taylor were taking up all their cap space and forcing them to play musical chairs with absolute scrubs across their OL for like 6 years? And they kept restructuring guys who were playing bad or always injured? The steelers were in the worst cap situation probably in the whole league. But sure they're a shining star compared to our FO
I feel like they're about to be in that same situation. I'm praying a Bell and Villanueva deal are done to get em back on track.
28 minutes ago, rmw10 said:Yep. Too many bad deals recently. We tried to remain competitive by signing some players to deals that may have looked good on the surface, but are so backloaded that they're hurting us now.
Yup. Purge would also allow the team to start front loading contracts which I would agree with. Don't get why more teams don't try to do that.
5 hours ago, rmw10 said:Not sure if this is what he's referring to, but I'm of the opinion that we should just scrap all of the dead weight this year, eat the cap hits, and go into 2018 fresh. That would be my idea of "fixing" the salary cap.
Truth is we should have started last year. Between "bad" deals and injuries, the team was just hit with a lot of misfortune at the same time which has resulted in where we are now. I'd rather the team just admit they got off track and try to correct it by dumping all the bad deals(realistically) one year and moving on.

Ozzie has shown he can draft OL and DL. I said we should have paid KO, cause he was a rare talent. Wagner is not. Let them both walk if they get too expensive and use that on positions we either whiff on or are hard to acquire. If I'm Ozzie my priorities are convincing Marshall and Mangold to come on team friendly deals. I know Harbaugh had joked with Marshall about doing TV and playing at the same time a while back as well.
Marshall, Mangold and Gilmore. Make it happen.
They're all cap casualties too. Ozzie has to be two stepping at the combine.

Best part of the season was how excited Eugene got when he found out that gorgeous woman was intelligent. That should say something.
Eugene is a sucka...
Always Sunny has been great this season, though.
Would Gilmore and Mangold be too much to ask for?

Don't worry about signing draft picks this year, we can trade them all away to other teams for picks in the 2019 draft, and (like in Madden) we can get more value for those future picks (example: 2017 1st for a 2019 1st and 2nd). We would literally be golden by 2019!
Not like there's any chance we whiff on multiple quarterbacks with that plan. Or that the fan base would lose faith in the franchise who is legitimately without a doubt tanking for 2 years straight. In fact, it's completely sane to think people who work to keep this team afloat would agree if we drew this up and lay it down in front of them they would say "hell yes! Sign me up and put my name on that!" /end sarcasm
I'm down. I would forbid the black jerseys for the two years we're tanking though. Those are only for special occasions.

Edit* it was you lol. So what was it?
All of them. I hadn't been to a movie where the crowd got as into it as they did in a while too. Comedy, thriller and horror. Had the right amount of each, which is what I mean by the blend. I liked it. Was a fun movie.
Saw Get out and liked it. Right blend and set a good atmosphere.
I feel like the Flacco fan club sent a sleeper cell in here to make anyone who criticize him look bad. There's no way that person is being serious. That is all...
1 minute ago, The Raven said:I'd also be okay with it. I like Wagner but he's only worth paying if he you want him to be a RT in a primarily wide zone running game. He's mediocre in all other blocking schemes. His pass protection is solid and could warrant a pay day but his run blocking, taken as a whole, leaves a lot to be desired.
And with Williams... In 2017, I don't believe in giving multi-year deals with a salary of more than $5 million to defenders who don't impact the quarterback position.
Completely agree.

That's only about a QP and not THAT much if he just picked up or was heading to "party."
1 minute ago, The Raven said:I'd be willing to take it if we manage to hold on to two of those three. As I've said time and time again in recent months, our inability to lock up rising stars after they finish their rookie contract is one big reason for recent struggles.
I'd like to keep Wagner, but truth is, I probably wouldn't mind both of them walking. I know it's not the brightest idea, but I'm not so sure we should pay Williams, even though he's a great talent. Think some of that money should be used to pursue some edge talent in FA.
1 minute ago, The Raven said:Too soon.
Funny looking back. He was all of those things in college but just lost it in the NFL.
I really don't even blame Ozzie for how poor that draft was as a whole. We got Juice, Williams and Wagner in that crap shoot. I'll take it.
Let's take a run at that Matt Elam guy. Hard hitter, great range and sure tackler. Need secondary help...
1 minute ago, Tru11 said:there really is no excuse for the players not being on the same page and not having chemistry TBH.
True
1 hour ago, Tank 92 said:Exactly, and I think you hit the nail on the head when you mention "chemistry", or simply knowing where a receiver will be when. And I also think at times that Is a two way street where the receiver needs to be accurate and consistent in his route running.
So Pitta(maybe Mason) are basically the only ones who can run routes correctly each time for Joe's career?
I could be wrong, but I doubt Boldin and Steve were poor route runners yet still would have to adjust for the ball. I'll give you Jacoby, Torrey, Perriman and a few others. In your boys defense, it seems like everything can't ever work at the same time, which is what made the SB so special, to me. It wasn't that they played above their potential, but just showed what they are easily capable of, for a CONSISTENT stretch.

Rocky had the worst defense I've ever seen.

The Raiders aren't as far down as you think and neither are the Steelers, especially with the return of Bryant and Green. Also, who says he even cares about a ring? He is probably more concerned with securing his financial future.
