We officially lost FA. I could take Wagner and Juice. Even Williams.
But NOT DUCASSE!! Anyone but Ducasse. Say it ain't so.
Hello 4-12.

This is what I came to post. Well done sir

In all honesty, I could stomach one last Flacco debate before this place closes down.
We need to go out with a bang then...

Seriously even if he's on a dirt cheap deal we need WRs that can run routes and open up the field for Perriman, Moore and Wallace ( if he returns ).
Torrey smith hasn't improved since leaving the Ravens...
In his defense, it was the Niners.

I can't believe the talent these 1st round busts pull...
Something something something football.... Any way to make your avi larger?

I was high on three players. Gilmore, Marshall and Mangold. Outside of that, didn't really care. Was hoping to make a move on Ingram, but he was tagged.

I don't trust it yet either. I'll save my fun for the 31th...

Ravens announce the release of Elvis Dumervil in an expected move to save cap space. We'll see if they can funnel that into a top safety
Tony Jefferson!?
I swear the cap space they are opening up better not be for a damn safety...
Wouldn't be a fan of the Torrey move either unless it's very low and even then, I still would prefer Wallace.
...so I take it as its the wild west til forums closed...
Let's get it

Yes... too bad their OL is still hit garbage. I'd say our line healthy is better than theirs even without knowing our RT situation.
24 minutes ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:NOOOOOOOOO. Giants just signed Brandon Marshall to 2 year deal, worth $12m total.
WHY DO WE NOT OFFER THAT.
Maybe we did. Ugh, thats affordable and the guy i wanted.
Edit: rumors better be true that we're in on Pryor... or at least someone like Garcon, Alshon. We need a vet, productive WR.
I think a lot of it had to do with not really having to move and staying in the NY area. Probably most convenient move for him. I'd assume he was offered more and took less to stay.
Understandable.. you all didn't a great job putting up with us for this long.
3 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Reiff is another story. Fluker has been garbage. I'd rather have Alex Lewis out there on a rookie deal
This is my point. Don't pay to bring in more trash. This team needs to look and try to figure out their "real" goals this season. How far can this team really make it? When they come to a realistic conclusion start making moves. No need to pay to bring in someone as a stop gap, when we have young talent to fill and see what we have if we don't think we're capable of a deep run. As much as I've said start making cuts, Zuttah wouldn't be one of them due to the fact he still has starting potential on the current team. A lot of the other guys to me are dead weight. There's no way they can look at some of these contracts (Doom, Webb and especially Pitta) and say they are actually worth what they are making. Suck it up and cut em now so we have the space later.

I came into FA not expecting to keep any of our guys so none of this shocks me.

This could be a lot sooner than people think.
9 hours ago, BmoreBird22 said:I really want the Ravens to just shed the bad contracts this year. I hope the Ravens just eat it all this year because with so little cap space, they're not going to actually field a quality team this year.
I do, however, think if they just rid themselves of all the bad/questionable contracts (Doom, Pitta, Webb, Zuttah, Watson) and let guys like Wagner and Williams walk to build through FA, this team could get another high pick next year and really build up through the draft and field a quality team next year with FA being a bigger boost with more cap.
Completely agree. Basically said the same things in the another thread.
3 minutes ago, JO_75 said:If anything I'd rather overpay Wagner if it meant keeping Joe upright and getting some consistency on the OL.
More reasons I wouldn't pay in general are because these are positions the team actually has shown they can draft. Invest the money into CB(hard to find) or Wr which they have shown they are inept at scouting.
2 minutes ago, JoeyFlex5 said:If we are clearing space here, and we go ahead and swallow up all our remaining cap with Brandon Williams and likely backload it and destroy our future cap, I will be pissed. I love bwill but we're in no place to offer anything over 6-7m a year for ANY nt, williams or prime wilfork I don't care, bad bad bad move.
PLEASE ravens, clear some huge space and cut pitta, and let williams walk, let us have some kind of cap space for once and not wreck our futures by backloading big deals under what little cap we have.
This please. I think we talked about setting up contracts and having the cap purge. This is why I'm upset. You may not like @Sami84 but he has a point about something. This team in a bad spot right now. We're not bad enough for top picks and just not good good enough to consistently beat average-above average teams. Like our pick, we're mediocre. Add that with we're losing some of our best talent and cap is tied with bad contracts. If something isn't done soon, it's just downhill from here, with bad or medium draft position, and praying that they work out, with an already somewhat talent deficient roster.
This is also why I've said let all the FAs walk this year. Don't tie anymore money just trying to band aid the team at this point. I'd rather rebuild the line, especially with Yanda coming to the end of his career and then try to keep them together when you think you have found the right pieces. That and you can't put all your money into a run stuffing DT. At least not in todays league, especially when the run d went to hell the second your #1 CB went down.
2 hours ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:btw - to those wondering why we havent seen any cuts yet, even the obvious ones...
Heres my guess.
Since we havent agreed to anything with any of our own FA's, and we cant actually sign other FA's til thursday they have no reason to. There's no one to fit into that cap space yet, so they can sit pat until needed.
And while some may be obvious... there is value in waiting. For example a guy like Shareece Wright they want have some desire to bring back on a lesser deal. But, if they see the market giving even low level CB's bigger money than what we already owe him it might make sense to just keep him unless we see an upgrade we know we can sign.... or we need the space to sign someone at a different position.
Doom they may want to keep if possible.
They could be trying to work out restructures/extensions with some as opposed to flat out cuts.
Any number of reasons. You'd think a guy like Kendrick Lewis would be gone already... but we dont have many safeties on the roster. Same with Arrington. Seem like no brainers, but maybe not.
You have a point, but I would say, it was basically admitted that the contract given to Wright was false hope and Lewis has proven to be worthless at this point. Their cost outweighed their value, to me, significantly and they really don't serve a purpose on the team. Just my thinking, but I see what you mean.
I'm going to be that guy and say I'm somewhat mad we still have so many guys still on the roster.

Fluker played for our new OL coach, too. Played for Bama, too. He's not my favorite guy by a long shot but he fits the bill as "big and strong." With coaching on footwork he could be a solid LG for us, I think. Keep him away from tackle by all means, but he could be a contributor. Though, I didn't see the Chargers much this year so he could have regressed a lot from his rookie year.
He's a potentially fit and he'll be cheap. At least work him out.
Solid first season. But seems to have regressed since. I'm all for OL but I'd stay away from Fluker. Watched a few games and my friend is a Chargers fan. He's been saying since the season he was gone.

He's just not good. Hurst has starting experience as well.

Won't be a Raven.
I know the Ravens don't usually make that kind of move, but Cooks is 23. He's still damn near a rookie and you know what you're getting. No idea if we'd be creative enough with him though.
