If his Oline has a decent game I hope he still torches Dallas secondary. They can't stop Cobb and Nelson.
Yeah I hope so.....They need to send the Cowgirls back to the barn....
The latest on Bell (one source from within Steelers):
'Doesn't look good' for Le'Veon Bell to play vs. Ravens:
Quick concussion protocol for Ben and Mill said everything about Tomlin.
Aaron Rodgers is playing with a tear in his calf muscle.
That would limit his movement which is his bread and butter ability; GB won't go far into the playoff.......
Loggains was also the guy who told the Browns to draft Manziel. Apparently the story goes Manziel sent Loggains a text that said to hurry up and draft him. Loggains then used it to persuade Haslam and Pettine that Manziel wanted to be there. Then Haslam agreed, and the trade to 22 was made. It is also said he wanted Manziel to start from the beginning. So now Manziel has lost his biggest supporter.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/cleveland-browns-fire-guy-convinced-162605077.html
cuz he didn't want to get drafted in 4th round...lol
Still don't like Kyle Shanahan and glad we didn't get him as our OC but no one could make that Browns offense run.
Kyle has plan with his dad for the 49ers job.....
Hilarious. Johnny football sucks so they fire the coach.
cuz they refused to eat snicker...
No, I wouldnt take him over Pees but I think he'll take a year off whenever he gets fired.
yeah, with a bunch of undrafted FA and rookie group of DBs, I don't think anyone better than Pees who can bring out the best of this defense.
I actually really like him as a nickel back. I think it could be his ideal position. I think it helps him think less and play more to his strengths. His tackling has improved, but I think so has his coverage.
I really think he'd be a good nickel back with time.
I agree; let him work slowly into SS. It starts it with nickel back.....
Geez.
Suspend him until the investigation concludes and move on. Can't wait for 2015. We're going to be under a microscope for a long time because of the Rice incident.
Just stay out of trouble; if you don't do it, nobody is going to accuse you of doing it.
Suh is officially playing against the Cowboys this Sunday, as suspension dropped....
PLEASE let the Falcons hire McDaniels, I will laugh so hard
Lets pray McDaniels coming back to be a HC cuz without him, we didn't have 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in 2010; unfortunately, we had in return with Kindle, Cody, and Dickson...![]()
They're probably closer to the owner than he is. Just speculating. Their owner, Jed York, is a clown, though.
Ever since Eddie gone and replaced by his sister and brother in law York, their franchise have been going down the hill. Their son Yed York doesn't know crap about football. They were lucky to find Jim to turn the losing franchise around, and now they want to burn the bridge. The idea that came around is with this group of talents anybody can win. The same situation happened for the Cowboys Jimmy Johnson.
You can have the best army in the world but if you can't lead them, they are useless....
Yup, it's almost outrageous how he was forced out. Said in the post above, 49ers better have the next big thing in the waiting because they threw out the best thing they've had in years.
edit - and I say all this without even being a Jim Harbaugh fan. Acted insane on the sidelines having literal tantrums at bad calls. Plus, the comparisons to John and Jim being considered 'better' were annoying. But, man, he was a good coach and turned around the 49ers and definitely Alex Smith.
never like Jim myself, but he knows what he's doing to get a team to rally and excel. He is an excellent coach, and if I am 49ers owner, I would kick out the GM and CEO before Jim....
I never liked that he turned on Alex Smith and sent him packing... I think you were looking at two completely different kinds of QB's. Pocket passer vs. Read Option. The other thing was that stardom went to Colin's head... and I think Harbaugh helped with that by doing what he did... He made him the glory boy. Didn't work to keep him level headed. Kaepernick became another loose cannon with his stardom... his behavior, his GQ stuff... his calendar boy attitude... and I think that along with Harbaugh's outbursts and the inconsistent play of the team the past 2 seasons, along with alienating some good players, that was his death sentence. They went from being a Super Bowl powerhouse to this.... Look at this year's season.
There were a few players that just seemed to disappeared. We were just talking last week about Crabtree. Another player that was a good player and became non-existent. Once Boldin came into the fold, other really good receivers were just not used.
Maybe Jim is an excellent coach.... but one thing is for sure. None of us were in the building to see what was happening. But almost everyone has seen glimpses of it... He was a lunatic on the sidelines. Probably alienated the refs too.... John doesn't air his emotions in the same way.... not even close. I am just glad we have John.
edit: I think they have an idea of where they want to go.... otherwise I don't think it wouldn't have happened this way.
I'll bet they do; they missed the 5-11 team so bad.....
As to the other firings, Rex Ryan was a long time coming. 26 wins in the last 4 years, -309 point differential in the last 3, and the bravado wore thin when it wasn't being backed up. Poor team chemistry, awful QB play, overpaid FAs, and tabloid stories are the legacy of his Jets - how long ago those playoff runs feel.
His GM, Idzik, seemed more like a pacifier than an asset. Kind of a trial run to see Rex with a different GM for a couple of years. They continued their decline into stinkiness...
Mike Smith, eh, could see this both ways. Atlanta is a historically terrible franchise who had mild success with Smith. Maybe it's his fault his team is soft, though. However, his team was soft when they were going to the playoffs - I'm more likely to put this on his GM, we'll get to him later. Smith looks gone.
Thomas Dimitroff is hilarious! Think of a hipster-wannabe who puts more product in his hair than an 80s hair band and is nearing the ripe age of 50 - then make that guy your GM. He got it right early with Matt Ryan - choker that he is - and Michael Turner and some pieces already on the Falcons but, wow, how a little success goes to your head. Trading a kings ransom for Julio Jones, who is supremely talented but has spent almost 25% of his time not playing. Revolving door at cornerback and one of the worst defenses in the league. OL has suffered, gave money to a washed up Steven Jackson and other bad FAs. He built the team offense-heavy and didn't put an OL into place. A bunch of flashy skill players and nothing else will net you crappy seasons. He built the team incorrectly and they're paying. There are conflicting reports whether he stays or goes. Should be gone but I won't mind Atlanta stinking up the league.
Bears canned both their GM and coach. I would've made a case for Trestman except for the insane turn of events with their OC Aaron Kromer being an 'unnamed source' slamming Jay Cutler. Kromer went unpunished when he should have been fired on the spot. That's on the HC and Trestman blew it. Kromer was also with the Saints and was interim coach when the whole bountygate/Vicodin crap was going on - seeing a trend. The GM, meh, no opinion.
Joe Philbin is a lame duck. Not a very good head coach. Miami can keep him around another year but they'll find out.
Tom Coughlin has earned the right to stay until he wants to retire. Don't think those issues fall on him.
That's my rambling opinions on the matter(s).
All they need a shot of Jim's dose to make the franchise historic turnaround......
I wish Jim stay in NFL....
Perfect Meme for Jim and the 49ers. I believe the 49ers are making a mistake and I will always say it's up there with Jerry Jones firing Jimmy Johnson.
lmao.....
If Jim gets fired with that record, nobody has that job....
I think Jim might go to the Falcons if Arthur goes hard on Jim.....
So now here's the latest.... next Monday, the dreaded Black Monday is when the 49ers and Jim Harbaugh will part ways. Now it doesn't say if there will be a trade, he'll accept the offer from Michigan or not. Though it at least seems Jim may have a choice of where he wants to go if they outright fire him.
Jim's new hiring is the most interesting news for me in the off season.....I can't wait to see the 49whiners go back to the downward spiral.....
Hmm... I'd still like to see what he could do in Oakland though.....
He will definitely drag that team out of hell hole.......
You're actually supposed to play their eyes first. A lot of times when a corner gets beat he has to make a choice between playing the ball and trying to make the tackle, if you've ever seen a DB fall over trying to play the ball that's basically what happens to them, they turn and lose balance letting the receiver get away. The key is having tight coverage and not getting beat on the route
You have to play both to be a good CB; you can't let the other guy 5yd arm push and run pass you, and you can't just play their hands when the ball dropped right in front of you if you ever look back.
Cary William or the old Jimmy Smith not letting his WRs beating him much but they always haul the ball cuz Cary or Jimmy don't track for the ball. The new improved Jimmy never let his WR get behind and he plays for the ball at the same time.
Basically, you don't want WR get behind you but at the same time, you don't play their hands when you are neck to neck with him.
You're saying not letting WR beat you in the route is just the first phase of being a CB; a little more advance is that you have to be able to track for the ball. If you know where the ball is going to be, who cares about the opposing WR when he is running the wrong route.
To be able to track where the ball is need serious skills and hard work.......
Webb is used to be a very good ball tracker until he went down with his second ACL......
PS: Additionally, I can't forget Webb intercepted Brady's pass to Elderman in AFCC when Elderman was clearly behind Webb but he jumps up and haul the interception.
People are actually calling him the "real deal" after just one game, against a pathetic team??
If you look at the last possession play of the Jags, Melvin actually turned his head and tracked for the ball. Most CBs don't look for the ball, they look for the WR's hands.....
Although it's his first start of NFL, it's shown so much promise and potential. If he can carry that momentum game by game, he is a real deal.
Right now, he is looking good until his next playing time proven it wrong......
Its pretty much been one of the most interesting talk in the past month. With 49ers sealing the season w/ no playoff hope, Jim is now a hot candidate for NFL/College team to vy for a tremendous coach that knows how to win.
Michigan just offered him 48million/6 year offer (8m p.year avg), which would make him the highest paid coach in college. The downside would be that he is going back to college. Can you really compare fiesta bowls/pizza hut bowls to SUPERBOWL? Especially when the coach knows he has the talent to get a good team to a superbowl?
Any other college team: NONE. There is no college team that can even sniff Jim at the moment. The only way another college grabs Jim out from Michigan is with a higher payday. No college has the size, fanbase, and history/connection that Michigan does with Harbaugh family.
My prediction is that if Harbaugh CAN, he would at the very least look for a NFL team rife with talent that has tremendous history, fanbase and SUPPORT from both players and front office direly looking for a new direction.
#1 team in NFL that might land him would be:
Atlanta Falcons
Upside:With a sub .500 division, rife with talent in many areas, Harbaugh could be a major upgrade to Mike Smith.
Downside: Putrid defense that needs to be scraped from top to bottom. Including most of the defensive coaches to FO. GM is also another headache that has a history of having a terrible track record of drafting defensive players.
#2 team in NFL:
Miami Dolphins.
Upside: Another team loaded with talent that can look for a new direction. The owner and the fans havent had a playoff season in over a decade. Joe Philbin looks to be on his way out with another dud season with a 7-7 record.
Downside: Loaded division that looks to be competitive next year. Bills, New England has talents to keep dolphins at bay. Miami is a hard place for drill Sargent to live in. With virtually all players having access to nightlife and temptation outside of football in the city, it would be hard for a coach to put a focused/strict disciplined team in southside beach.
#3 team in NFL:
Chicago Bears
Upside: Rife with perhaps one of the most historic name and huge fan base, winning a SB in Chicago would make Jim a household name in NFL lore. Chicago has ton of talent on offense and few talents on defense that a coach can build on.
Downside: Tough fan base with high expectation, and a competition division with Lions and Packers, it would be the most difficult landing spot to top the division.
#4
49ers:
Upside: went to NFCC 3x with core players.
Downside: Bridges are burned w/ top brass.
#5-11
Raiders/TB/CIN/Redskins/Ten/Jags/Jets - Either a circus or impossible. Slim chance.
What are your thoughts on where Jim would land?
You sum it up pretty well..
I think if Jim wants to have a consistent winning record, the Falcons is a good team in a weak division.
If he wants money, he can take Michigan job but that will be lots of headache.
Well hopefully he listens to their offer. Apparently Michigan has OFFERED Jim the job of Michigan Head Coach. It would be a deal that pays him $8M over 6 years, which is more than what he is making now and what the 49ers offered for a contract extension.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/17/michigan-reportedly-makes-run-at-jim-harbaugh/
Edit: It is now being said Jim is now considering Michigan's $8M offer. Also Jason LaCanfora says there is "little doubt" that Mark Davis could match or beat Michigan's offer, though he offered DOUBLE of what Michigan is offering Jim to Jon Gruden who turned it down.
His salary will be more than his older brother John is making right now.
Jim better takes the money and run like hell....
But seriously, Jon Gruden was offered 16mil per year?
can't wait for the 49whiners to fire Jim so they will be back to the slump.....
I saw alot of things that I liked. Jaqs even decided to challenge him for what would have been the game and he played it PERFECTLY.
Finally we may have ourselfves a gem!
Totally agree, dude stepped up and played like a vet. I believe it's a gem and I hope it's true.
We just take anything we got and this dude played good press coverage and technique, just like Jimmy like most of us notice.
I like what I see....

Kind of disrespect for LeBeau's loyalty; the dude is the master defensive of mind in NFL history and couldn't retire with his beloved team. I hate the Steelers but mad respect for LeBeau's defensive mind.
However, I wouldn't mind we go up against soft Steelers defense in the next few decades...lol
