Ya. I don't think we even should get rid of Joe. Joe ain't exactly the best, but he's still a good starting QB, and you simply can't throw that away. But yes, picking up a QB in the draft, grooming him until Joe's contract expires (I believe the rookie contract will expire simultaneously...correct if I'm wrong on that), and HOPEFULLY feeling confident enough to start him. I know it's a long shot, but hey...
Sort of defeats the purpose of the drafted QB though.
For starters, I would like to see how many quality starting QBs there are in the league that sat behind somebody for literally like 3-5 years and "developed" into a good player. Aaron Rodgers is about the only example I see of this, and he sat 3 years... and that was over a decade ago.
The entire benefit of rookie QBs playing well is that you get them for cheap.
Ya, good point. It's not like it used to be. Rookie QBs are generally drafted to start, not sit. I see what you mean.
Honestly, I'd like to see us draft DeShone Kizer. He may fall because he lacks experience (not even two full seasons as NDs starter). If he does, we should take him, groom him. I think he's going to be a great QB. He has all of the tangibles; but he has a very competitive spirit, and he's tough.
Depends on where he falls...I'd like to see us take a QB in the general area of the 4th round, or maybe the comp pick we get for KO...not saying we need to get rid of Joe, but grooming a backup QB has no negative that I can see. Mallet is not the answer, and will more than likely will be paid well over what he's worth by some other team.

"Part of the reason Baltimore’s salary cap is difficult to navigate is the fact that they have quarterback Joe Flacco signed to a $120 million contract. Having one of the league’s highest-paid quarterbacks eats up a sizable chunk of the cap space."
LOL - and what do we have to show for it?
Anyways, we're stuck, may as well make the best of it.
K. Lewis and Arrington just take up space. Doom has been almost worthless. So, bye, bye.A super bowl championship. It's that simple. Joe got paid for winning the big one, like it or not (And what real Raven fan would take a good statistical QB over a SB ring?). Pretty good on his part for waiting out and getting SB MVP=extra big pay day.
I'm not questioning the decision to pay him. It had to be done. That's the market. Yes, Joe was smart for betting on himself. But post-super bowl, we have NOTHING to show for it. It's THAT simple. And who said anything about stats? I sure didn't. But since you brought it up, Joe's "stats" have sucked, and so has his record, since the SB.

Just renegotiate Joe's contract!
If it were only that easy...

Harbaugh's insistence on sticking with his guys reminds me of Billick sticking with Boller to the bitter end.
Both won two North Division Titles and one Superbowl.
not bad for 19 years between the two sarcastic
It actually isn't bad. Look at the Jets, Browns, Bills, Eagles, Redskins, Raiders, Chargers, Bengals (a case can be made), Rams, Jags, Titans, Lions, Vikings, Bears. Other than the Jags, the rest of this groups has been around a lot longer than the Ravens franchise. They have all had a revolving door of coaches and QBs. Hire, fire, hire, fire, bench, start, bench, start - repeat...and they have nothing to show for it. The Ravens on the other hand, are always in the mix. With very few exceptions, this team always has a legitimate shot. There's a reason for that. It's called continuity. The Ravens and other regularly successful franchise share that commonality.
I would rather look at what the patriots coaches have done love or hate BB he is a great coach he has a great QB and a bunch plug in guys nobodys ever heard of and win year after year
I agree. Patriots have it together; albeit with questionable methods. But their day will end, like everyone else. It won't continue forever. Granted, I'm not happy with the Ravens now; but we have to admit that it's a great organization. Far from perfect, of course; but still a well run franchise that most fans would love to have.

anyone else like Jabrill Peppers with our 16th pick? would be nice to have not just playmakers, but game changers like we used to with Reed in the secondary.
I like Peppers, but I am hearing that Malik Hooker is the best safety, the like of Ed Reed. Also I hear that Jamal Adams is also better than Peppers. But all 3 are very good safety. One of them will be there at pick 16th. Also a top pass rusher and top corner will be there too. Basically when will be on the clock, we will have a pool of top 5 safety, top 5 pass rushers and top 5 conerbacks. So Ozzie will have to make a choice. Hopefully we will get a game changer.
I'd say that a top CB is more urgent than a S. Weddle and Webb actually did pretty good for the most part.
Are you drunk? I hope you're being sarcastic - You can't use the Jags as an example, nor the Bengals. Bengals have had very limited success, and one and done in the playoffs, and that's IF they make it. The Jags? Are you serious? THEY'RE the blueprint on how to draft? lol
I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm, and it was hilarious.
I agree.
Both offensive and defensive needs a makeover The defense played pretty good most of the season but I am so tired of watching the game and not being able to see the CB's on the TV screen because they are playing so far off the WR's
haha - I know, right? The opponent's offense is on their own 25 and the Ravens CBs are in the tunnel, behind the FG posts.
I wish the Ravens would fire all their coaches, dump Flacco and his bloated salary, and replace Ozzie.
Hire up & coming coaches with new schemes like Chip Kelly,
Spend multiple 1st Round picks the next few years until you get a Tom Brady QB
Draft only Alpha Dawgs like the Jaguars have - Jalen Ramsey, Myles Jack, Dante Fowler or the Bengals - Burfict, Pacman, Dre, Green because they are the best teams in the league. Every year, ONLY draft big play-making WRs, Shutdown Corners, Safeties that will Shut down Gronk & Edelman at the same time, Pass Rushers that make Von Miller look like Kelly Gregg.
After 3-4 years of picking high in the draft and going through at least 3-4 head coaches, we might be able to make the play-offs.
But who cares, we will have a "Smashmouth football, alpha dawgs" led team with a Tom Brady QB who takes the vet minimum so the team can sign all the best FA every year....

This is too funny. We'll see what he can do with his very own schemes next season. But if it's anything like what we saw this year (Trestman 2.0), this team will be mediocre at best, and Harbs will definitely lose his job.
there has to be more changes to the coaching staff. Why are the Ravens so enamored with Pees. The secondary coach didn't change the pitiful secondary. There are many player who have to be let go.
Bull crap. This secondary is much improved. Also, they generated a lot of turnovers, which was a focal point for them in offseason. They definitely improved. However, they do need to get better, no doubt.
Keep in mind, too, that we had no pass rush. No pass rush leaves even the best secondaries vulnerable.
I wish there was someone at the season concluding presser who would ask the followiong questions from Steve:
- Do you agree that what the Ravens showed this season was mostly mediocre?
- If you do: do you accept mediocrity on the long term - especially after one of the best off-seasons in team history, with a draft and free agency that might both go down as among the best in team history?
- If you don't accept mediocrity on the long term - how do you plan to stop it?
- What exactly do you see in coach Harbaugh that gives you hope that things will turn around, after such a promising season - a great roster with few injuries - was lost in such an unacceptable fashion?
- What gives you the reason to believe Harbaugh will somehow get the hang of how to spot a good OC? He had 5 OC'S, and four of them - Cam, Caldwell, Trestman and Mornhinweg - were obviously NOT good enough. And worse: the tendency is worrying: the last two ones were the worst by far. What makes you think this tendency won't continue? WHY wouldn't it continue if the same man is allowed to pick the next OC who picked the previous ones?
- Aren't you afraid that the Ravens are gonna lose more and more fans if the Ravens continue to be a team that's seldom fun to watch - even when they win?
- What's your stance on Flacco's performance in 2016?
- If you agree that it was easily his worst season ever, how do you plan to make him seem like a QB that actually wants to play and win - like he used to do?
- Do you think we, Ravens-fans deserved this seasson?
- Do you agree that it was shameful,. borderline insulting for Steve Smith to have to end his career like this?
And most importantly:
- What has to happen to convince you that Harbaugh is not what he used to be, anymore? That he's been wasting good, potentially successful seasons since the Super Bowl?
You see, I agree that continuity is a great asset and that it should never be underestimated. But it shouldn't be overvalued either. I'm afraid that insisting on prioritizing continuity will come at the price of prolonged mediocrity for the Baltimore Ravens. As the owner who finances all this mediocrity - is this really what you want? Is this what you're willing to settle for?I expected better questions from you bio. These are all inflammatory gotya type questions that are more about getting your opinion across than getting serious answers. Seriously, you are better than this.
That's what this board if for...Our opinions. Not like his questions wld be answered anyways

Ravens game plan: Let's send SSS out with a bang by throwing to Pitta all day long, laying eggs in the red zone, letting Rex Burkhead shred the interior (bye, Brandon), and watching Flacco play another wonderfully mediocre game. Great job, Ravens. Very proud of your effort today.
Sorry, Steve Smith, that we suck, and didn't even give you a taste of success. Best wishes to you.
The commentator says: "I don't know why Flacco didn't throw it to Steve Smith, he was open."
The answer: Because Steven Smith is #89, not #88. Apparently Pitta is the only guy Flacco sees on the field.
Cool! Ravens will get the ball back to either throw a pick, or to lay another egg in the red zone. Awesome!!
Was that sack? Forgot what those looked like.
I may be wrong. But on that 4th and 2, Bengals only had 10 guys on the field. What does Flacco do? Throws off of his back foot...you guessed it, Pitta. Brilliant!
We're not going to resign Brandon Williams - and I'm glad. Dude has completely disappeared at the end of the season.
Just now, Cillmatic said:Marc Trestman was the worst thing to ever happen to Joe. We need to find out who his QB coach was when Kubiak was here and make him the OC.
Ya. Joe is not accountable at all. SMH.
The OC didn't throw that pick in the end zone. The OC doesn't throw into double coverage regularly. Football is football. You don't need an OC to know how to be logical. It's actually a simple game. All the bad decisions Joe has made this year are on Joe, and Joe alone. He's a 9 year veteran. This is him, and always will be...with some exceptions here and there.
Just now, rmw10 said:I think it's a good start, but there's a serious personnel issue as well. Too many people refuse to believe that this team lacks talent in a lot of key areas.
A new OC will only give firepower to the Flacco lovers, excusing him for his idiocy. Unless Kubs decided to to comeback, I don't think there's an OC in this league that can somehow transform this offense.
