It takes more then rings to be the g.o.a.t., it takes peak athletic ability and skill, plus legit numbers. Now Just to compare brady isnt even in Aaron Rodgers league athletically gifts wise or a Elway of the 90s.
Brady whether his backers like it on not is like Montana a great system qb. Westcoast bunch of slot wrs who get yac.
Hes not G.o.a.t.
Stick him on the Browns with no bellicheck, no mcdaniels, no nothing. He might win 8 games. Playing in afc Least every year helps cupcake division too.
Put a Elway or Rodgers on the Browns the they win division titles at worst. Because They have bazooka arms, make plays with their feet, and especially Rodgers his accuracy is as good as Brady, he throws average wrs open, when they are not open puts it in smallest windows
Results are what matter the most, in the end. Not athletic ability. By your logic, Michael Vick is one of the GOATs. It is now undeniable. Whatever the reasons may be; Brady has been a winner for 16+ years, and NEVER shows signs of slowing down. I'd take Brady over Rogers any day of the week. (Ouch - that hurts to say) lol
I'm done "hating" on the Pats. That comeback was insane. Brady is the GOAT, hands down. To do what he's done at that age and always with a bunch of no-names, is just ridiculous. We can call them cheaters, or say they're in a weak division; and even state that the Falcons play calling late was atrocious; but the results show that we're witnessing the greatest football of our time. It really, REALLY pains me to admit it, as I hate the Pats; but I have to tip my hat, and concede: Brady is the greatest of all time.
BRING TORREY BACK.. him and flacco knew how to go deep on teams.. if it wasent a catch.. it was pass interference.. and if it wasent either.. it was PICKED bcz torrey didn't try hahah id love to have Torrey back.. home grown.. left for more money and realized only reason you were getting 1000 yards was because of flacco.. same with Wallace.. go play with tannehill.. bridgewater.. U WONT GET 1000 yards
I like Torrey Smith as a person, but for the same reason you mentioned about the picks is why I don't want him back. I would prefer a guy that is going to go up and make the contested catch and not just lean up against the guy that is defending him enough to draw a P.I. Again, Torrey is a good dude, but he isn't one of those "play makers" the Ravens should be looking for.
I agree. He's a one trick pony, and even with that one trick, he was very inconsistent.
Bringing in guys who are over 30 only prolongs the truth. This team needs to get younger and fresher not older and stale. Yes, it was fun having Mason, Boldin, and Smith, but it never fixes the issue. Sure they play like a Raven, but they are not homegrown. This team has never had its own offensive Identity. It always plays second fiddle to the defense, that’s why Joe has to endure so many OC’s. Stop trying to bring in tough guys who fit the mold of our D to play offense. Instead cultivate a new identity for the offense to flourish. In 2014, the team could have moved up 5 spots (possibly trading the 2015 Perriman pic) and chose ODB instead of Mosely, in the second round they could have had Jarvis Landry, but the chose Timmy Jernigan, and in the third round they took Crockett Gilmore, instead of Devonta Freeman. Sure Mosely is a great player, but the Ravens stuck trying to hold on to past defensive glory, while teams around the league are becoming more offensively evolved.
So basically, just draft a bunch of offensive players, pray that they play well, and don't worry about the defense at all?
I mean there's no question that heading into 2015 the defense was a bigger problem than the offense (frankly had been for a couple years, dating back to the SB), so in the 2014 draft you would have snagged two WRs and a RB, while not addressing the defense at all?
Outstanding. Seems like a good recipe to lose every game 38-35. Ask the Atlanta Falcons. They proved how that model doesn't work. They've had a high powered offense for years.
When they started focusing on getting younger and more athletic on defense and beefing up the offensive line, they became a good football team.
This isn't rocket science folks. The good teams are largely balanced. These high powered offenses that neglect the defense struggle to win football games on an annual basis.
Exactly
The same Eric DeCosta 3 minute interview spun into 4 articles? Either you're a genius or struggling for material Mink!
I would say the latter
Brandon Williams asks: "Where is the love?"
I ask: Where were you during that last quarter of the season? Finally someone who know's football this guy wears down and takes plays off I like him at the right price but he is not worth top dollar we need to spend on pass rush and CB
I am just glad that we have a guy on here with 5 years of organized football experience like yourself. Your commentary is always so insightful.
He is right about B Williams though.
Brandon Williams asks: "Where is the love?"
I ask: Where were you during that last quarter of the season?
I'm rooting for the Falcons solely because I can't stand the Pats and have no issues with Matt Ryan.
Same here. I have no issues with the Falcons, nor Matt Ryan. And like you, I hate the Pats with a passion.
they only need to look 30 miles south in DC. PIERRE CARCONE or DESHAWN JACKSON will be let go in free agency, either one is a legit 1 receiver.
1. I don't think DeSean is even a part of this discussion. He doesn't really bring any skill sets that Wallace or Perriman don't have at this point, and he certainly doesn't fit the mold of the kind of receiver we are looking for anyway.
2. I'd expect one of them to be retained by Washington. My money would be on Garcon, but he is the kind of player we would be looking for, though he also could be a bit outside of our price range.
Exactly. DeSean is good, but adding him would be redundant, and certainly would not benefit offense as a whole.
Nice atricle in todays Wash. Post on how Tom Bradys salary cap is so low by Brady choice. He would rather take a smaller salary so the TEAM can affort the players it needs to keep on winning. Ask old "3 and out Flacco" if he would do that for the Ravens??????????????????? FAT CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just FYI, Tom made $28.7M playing football for the Patriots this year.
Cap hit and what he actually gets paid are two different things.
Ya. I remember when everyone was heaping praise on him because he was so "unselfish" regarding his contract. But the numbers, when broken down, actually showed Brady benefiting financially. I don't remember the details, but I'm always skeptical when any article speaks of how "unselfish" Brady is.
wish the front office could find guys like edelman and hogan and wish we had the coaching staff that can utilize players like that if we did have any. i would say camponaro comes close but he has to stay healthy. maybe we have other guys but our coaches maybe are afraid to try things with them. i think chris moore could do damage on a wr screen or quick slant under 8 yards like brady runs with edelman or amendola.
Regarding point 1 - I'm not sure it would make a different. Those guys know their role. They play within the system. When a player goes to NE, he knows he's not going to be "the guy", or a super star. The players that last on that team understand one thing: Win, even if it means I won't be a superstar.
It's attitude, culture.
Looks almost like the Ravens think Joe will magically play better this year. I hope they are taking some concrete steps to improve his mechanics that we don't know about. Otherwise 2016's 24th ranked QB likely will continue to struggle - as will the Ravens.
I wondering when does the statement " You can't teach an old dog new tricks start to come into play? Joe's played practically the same the last 4 years.
Yep. Prior to the injury, he was the same. I hope he somehow does learn "new tricks" in 2017. I would love to see it. But I doubt it.
I share the sentiment of others here: I feel our roster could use upgrades, of course. However, I think this year was more of a coaching problem. If they can rectify that, and utilize the existing talent we have, I think we'll be back in the hunt.
were are slowly becoming the browns ... this is pathetic
hahaha. my god, man. no. freaking. way. not even in the same conversation.
Rightfully so. Deserves the Pro Bowl nod more than most others. Actually he deserves a SB ring with a Ravens logo on it, but we'll settle for the Pro Bowl this year.
Guy needs to learn how to tackle
LOL. And the "Most Ignorant Comment of the Year" goes to...YOU
Here's an idea: How about everyone KNOW their role, and play their role well. You don't need a Julio Jones to win a SB. In fact, the most recent SB winners never had a Julio Jones-like receiver. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when teams do have those types of receivers, they end up not being very good because all of their money is dumped on that one guy.
I hate to use them as an example, but the last time the Pats had a #1 WR was when Moss played for them. Yes, they were awesome, but they didn't win a SB. The Pats have been most successful with role players - and everyone knowing their place.
A Julio Jones would be awesome to have. So don't misunderstand me. But having a truly dominant WR is rarely the recipe for continued, consistent success. However, fundamentals are. Do all the little things right, and big things happen.
With regard to his accuracy with a hurt knee (assuming it wasn't completely healed), what was his completion percentage this year vs years past? Was it so much worse this year or not? In fact out of curiosity I dug up his career stats and guess what? 2016 was his best completion percentage ever! So, why do we keep creating scenarios as to why Flacco underperformed? Could it be his knee? Sure but was it? Don't know but at least it didn't affect his completion percentage. Well this article seems to say he was inaccurate because of it, but the stats debunk that theory. Here are the stats:

Exactly. If I shoot layups all of the time, my shooting percentage will look great. It'd be interesting to see a chart of the percentage differences every 5-10 yards; I bet beyond 10 yards his accuracy drops considerably.
7 hours ago, RavenManiac#7 said:All speculation. With his obvious abilities, who knows whether or not our coaches would have developed a similar system in order to maximize his talents. This kind of stuff might be fun to think about but nobody can ever know how things would have played out. Think about it. How many times have we read on here our fans' thoughts that Belicheater coaches his teams to utilize his players' abilities, while Harbs seems to try to make our players conform to his own system. Well, like I said, perhaps at the time our HC wouldn't have done that. That's why it's ALL speculation.
Maybe I should have prefaced that statement with "In my opinion." Nothing I said was absolute. Just what I think, is all.
lets be honest. if brady was drafted here he would of sucked.
I agree. Brady perfectly fits the system he's in. I really don't think he'd be as good under a different system
Dennis deserves the comeback award. Bell shouldn't have been considered. Why award someone who was suspended four games for something they did wrong?
Exactly. "Hey. Congratulations for coming back from your coke binge. Here's comeback player of the year!"
1 hour ago, Grapple Raven said:I can just hear Ray Lewis' voice saying "Its just football, Brady". I pure laughed out loud when I saw that tweet. Brady is SO special...if you don't like getting hit, perhaps you might need to rethink football as a profession, lol. Brady is a professional whiner. But I have to say it makes my day when somebody knocks the snot out of him. lol
No doubt. If I were a coach, I'd fill a roster spot with one guy from the practice squad, send him on the very first Pats possession, and just PUNISH Brady. Legal or not, just wreck him. Pay for his fine, give him a bonus, and send him home. lol
OK, so I hate the P*triots. and I hate Br*dy. I think I hate them more than I hate the Squeelers. While I hate the Squeelers, I do respect them as an adversary in our Division. So, as much as it pains me to say it, I think I have to root for the Squeelers to win on Sunday.
When either of these guys goes to the Super Bowl??? And the Packers beat the Falcons??? I will be rooting for the Packers... Go Pack Go...
I'm with you all the way, mom. Us much as I dislike the Steelers; I absolutely hate the Patriots. Tom Brady is the biggest whining, baby I've ever seen on a football field. Dude throws tantrums for getting tackled. I respect Ben as a football player, and I respect the Steelers organization, generally. But I have zero respect for the Patriots. I'd much rather the Steelers win the SB than the Pats. And besides, they're representing the AFC North. Ya, it sucks it ain't us, but as long as it ain't the Pats, I can live with it. lol
Pay Brandon Williams and right tackle Rick Wagner to keep them.
And how would you manage this cap-space wise?
lol. some fans think that the NFL is like Madden where you can turn the salary cap on or off.
Although Williams is a beast, we already have a promising backup in Michael Pierce, so it would surprise me if the Ravens offer him a big contract. Trying to keep Wagner might be more realistic since good RTs are harder to find and we don't have a decent backup on the team to replace him.
Only place Williams is a beast is at the dinner table ,he is so overrated he makes some plays but he takes plays off and at times gets man handled by 1 on 1's with guys that are smaller than him
Apparently you know better than just about the complete NFL analyst and expert scene... Because the prevailing view on Brandon Williams is quite the opposite of yours...
you obviously didn't watch the steelers game where he got manhandled lol
ya dude. the last 4 games he was useless

True. But we can longer use that as an argument against them. It's not their fault the division sucks. Ya, it'd be nice to have a cupcake division; but Pats have proved over and over that it does not matter who they play - they're usually better. That is a fact. The AFCG and super bowls have nothing to do with the division. They win, and they can beat anybody, any time.
