NFL contracts are usually structured to compensate players for the present and future performance, not past performance. However the best indication of future performance, is previous productivity. He played well in 2012, but it's 4 yrs later now. He hasn't played well at all in that span, and the team is below .500 over that span. While his previous performance enabled him to cash in, it still doesn't negate the buyer's remorse among fans due to his dismal performance since signing that original contract.
Good points. Ya, the confetti was nice. But he didn't get paid until after the confetti. With exception of the Kubiak season, Flacco has been pretty terrible. So needless to say, since signing the contract, he's most certainly not lived up to it.
