  1. Yea it's not a really impressive list in terms of bring excitement to the fan base, but knowing how much the Ravens like to find value in veteran on the back 9 of their careers, especially on defense were you're more likely to rotate guys, I thought some of those names would be worth keeping a eye on. Mangold definitely is the guy who'd really get excited about adding. But he's already said he'd love to stay in NY and might even be open to taking a pay cut to do so. So he might not even hit the market, but if he does, i agree, bring him in and don't let him leave until the contract is signed. If BWill is brought back there's no way Ngata is signed. It'd be no point lol. But if we lose BWill which is a real possibility, you'll have Pierce and Davis as the top guys. At that point I think Ngata would be worth a 1yr deal for a backup guy. Carl Davis is a guy that needs to be pushed and for 2017 Ngata would be a good guy to push him. If he outplays Ngata than great you aren't paying Ngata much anyway, keep him until the end of the season and allow him to retire a Raven. If Carl Davis can't outplay Ngata, than you know you need a upgrade at that position moving forward. I really like Pierce and think he'll be more than ok even as the top guy.
  2. Yea if you can find a Matt Birk type player that'd be idea. But I'd take another Zuttah trade situation. I've always thought if Zuttah said in that Kubiak ZBS that his trade would have looked much better. So if we can find a 27-29 year old vet that has a young buck pushing him down the depth chart, I wouldn't mind trading for him if he fits.
  3. NFL.com has a list of guys who might get cut and I think there are some interesting names. Nick Mangold is coming off a injury but he was still viewed as one of the better Center in 2015 and limited action in 2016. At 33 he still has a couple more seasons and I think him paired with Yanda would be great. I think he'd be an upgrade at Center and a great mentor to whoever is drafted. Jason McCourty is veteran I wouldn't mind bringing in. I'd definitely attack the CB position at the top of the draft but McCourty could be a nice insurance signing that'll at best give the Ravens great depth if the rookie CB is a stud day one. Not sure he's Safety material like his brother but if he could it's a added bonus. David Harris if cut could be a nice 1 year bridge. Not sure what the plan for KC is, although I assume the day Orr retired the Ravens implemented a play for KC to be a ILB. Harris would be a nice veteran presence alongside CJ to help KC or any rookie drafted learn the game better. He feels like a Ravens veteran signing. Both he and Mangold are tough gritty players who have been rocks for the NYJ Devon House could be a nice add at CB as well. He had a really solid year in 2015 with the Jags. Honestly can't remember much about him but he did play well in week 3 vs the Ravens. Lamar Houston only played 2 games last year due to injury, but had 8 sacks in a 2015 as a rush specialist. If he's healthy he might be worth a flier as a rotational guy to help with the pass rush if Doom doesn't take a pay cut. Jairus Byrd. How much of an upgrade over Webb would he be? I think it would be but i'm not sure what the price tag would be. I think much like Weddle he could be dropped into this Ravens defense and be back to playing at a high level. Not sure what happened to him in NO but he was a really good safety in Buffalo Haloti Ngata is on this list and if he's cut I'd love to bring him home for 1 more year. I'd like to see him and Suggs have one more year together and maybe enjoy a farewell season together similar to Ray and Ed. The last of that great Ravens Defense era. If the Ravens lose BWill and Ngata is cut, I'd bring him back to rotate and help groom Peirce and Davis.
  4. So i cherry picked. Ok Rams offense 14'-16': 1,524 pass attempts. Britt targeted 267 times which is 17% of his team's volume or ever 5.7 pass attempts went his way. Skins offense 14'-16': 1,709 pass attempts. Garcon targeted 330 times which is 19% of his team's volume or every 5.1 pass attempts went his way. The Skins threw the ball 185 more times over that 3 year period, which is 61.6 more times per year. Britt's low volume has very little to do with his inability to get open any more than Garcon's. A WR can't force his team to pass more. Now let's move to the 1st down comparison over 3 years. Garcon: 330 targets 127 1st downs. That's 38% or every 2,5 of Garcon's targets going for 1st downs. Britt: 267 targets 109 1st downs. That's 40% or every 2.4 of Britt's targets going for 1st downs. Where is Garcon more of a prolific 3rd down guy but Britt isn't? In fact those small percentage points in favor of Britt actually make a huge difference over the course of a season which you'll see later. In 63 more targets Garcon only has 18 more 1st downs in 3 years. The redzone argument, ok. Lastly you said you need a guy who can get open on all downs and I agree. So let's look at the numbers. Garcon: 48gms 330 targets 219rec 66% 2570yds 11.7ypc 12Tds 30 20+yds 6 40+yds 57% 1st downs 2 drops 872YAC 12 big plays 2 100yds games Britt: 47gms 267 targets 152rec 56% 2431yds 15.9ypc 11Tds 39 20+yds 12 40+yds 71% 1st downs 8 drops 699YAC 29 big plays 5 100yds games Either guy would be a really good fit for the Ravens offense moving forward. If you want a Derrick Mason type possession guy, Garcon is probably you're man. But based off what the Ravens said they wanted, a physical possession type guy who can consistently keep the chain moving and make big plays down field when the team needs it, Britt appears to be the better fit and more likely to provide those big spark plays that Steve Smith gave us. I think based off perception many people will take the same stance as you and Garcon will be a hot commodity driving his price. Britt will be viewed as a 3rd tier FA WR when it's all said and done imo. Also just as a reference point here are Steve Smith Sr's numbers over the last 3 years. 37 gms 308 targets 195 rec 63% 2268yds 11.6ypc 14Tds 40 20+yds 9 40+yds 57% 1st downs 14 drops 840YAC 21 big plays 7 100yds games for what it's worth.
  5. Yea i'd have no issue with re-signing Aiken and I've even said that Aiken made a believer out of me when the Ravens had to rely on him in 2015, I don't get the notion that a guys production should be minimized because he's he teams only option. That would make things tougher for him I'd think. True is, every offense force feeds their best players whomever that my be. I just get the feeling the Ravens are more than willing to allow Aiken to walk if he can get a nice deal somewhere. I certainly agree that Britt is more talented and has more potential than Aiken, but that should be expected of a former 1st round pick. I just see Aiken as a nice possession WR and that'd be great if the Ravens already had an established play maker on the roster. But they don't yet and they need whomever they bring in to be both a chain mover and play maker.
  6. If it's all about money how do you explain guys coming to the Ravens for less money? I'm not saying the Ravens are end all be all, but if guys like Weddlehttp://larrybrownsports.com/football/eric-weddle-reportedly-took-less-money-to-sign-with-ravens/296518 Steve Smith came here over other places that had way more salary cap then the Ravens and despite being directly involved in one of the worse seasons every by a Ravens team, decide to forgo retirement and return to the team citing that he didn't want to let the Ravens down. I'm not saying the Ravens don't need to improve. I'd hope they go into every FA and draft looking to improve. But if you don't think the Ravens still hold serve as a winning orginization around the NFL because of this rough patch you're kidding yourself.
  7. I hate to seem like i'm picking but are you truly aware of what you're typing. None of it adds up. I'd rather you just say you don't like Britt period because the reasons you're giving not to like him over other guys just don't add up. Neither Boldin nor Sr has ever surpassed 50 1st downs for the Ravens. You'll find it hard to discover one person in the Ravens organization that don't want the type of production those guys gave on 3rd downs. Furthermore, you say he's not a high volume guy. Well how can you be a high volume guy if you're not even targeted more than 84 times a season? Garcon has only surpassed 50 1st downs twice in his career and 1 of those seasons he was targeted 181 times. Marshall has surpassed 50+ 1st down 7 times and in every season he was targeted at least 140 times. Volume comes with targets and Britt just doesn't get as many as those guys. Britt converts 70%+ of his catches into 1st downs. I wonder what head do with more targets. Secondly. You said Britt isn't as good in the redzone as Garcon or Marshall. Well lets look at the numbers. Garcon 13 targets 5recs 1TD Britt: 12 targets 6recs 4TDs BMarsh: 22 targets 7recs 4TDs Garcon comes up short here. Now onto the 3rd down claim you made. Based on the site i looked at Britt converted 17 3rd downs into 1st downs last year, Garcon nor Marshall made the list.On 3rd and 7 or greater, Britt converted 6, Marshall converted 5 and again Garcon didn't make the list. http://scores.nbcsports.msnbc.com/fb/leaders.asp?year=&type=Receiving&range=NFL&rank=104 Not beating up on your opinion nor am i downing Marshall or Garcon cause i'd be happy with either, I just think you're sleeping on Britt unjustly. I agree with you on one thing tho. I could certainly see him getting close to 10Mil from someone and that'd probably push him out of the Ravens range, but the more I look into Britt the more I feel he's worth it and if Wallace is cut at his expense I wouldn't be upset.
  8. Really not trying to convince you Britt is the way to go, just showing way i'm showing love to the idea of getting Britt. If that makes sense. But I will say this. If we're just looking at basic stats then we'll always be able to twist them to support our personal narrative. Imo that whole only talent on a poor team narrative is thrown out the window because the Rams didn't force feed Britt. He's never had a high volume of targets. In 5 of 8 career years, Britt has surpassed 700+ yards with 15ypc and last season was the only time he's been targeted more than 84 times. I'd say he's a guy that actually maximizes his limited opportunities instead of a guy who's force feed in a poor offense. So now I think the Ravens or any other team will say, what can we get if we throw the ball his way 100+ times a season. What's the difference between Britt and Aiken? Last year with the dreadful Rams offense. Britt was targeted 111, while Austin was targeted 106, Kendrick 87 and Quick 77 times. Despite only 5 more targets than Austin, Britt had 10 more catches and double the yardage. The Rams didn't force feed him he just took advantage of his opportunities. Aiken on the other hand was targeted 127 times in 2015. That year there wasn't another Ravens player targeted more than 73 times and that was Sr with only 6 1/2 games played. I'd say the Ravens force feed Aiken that year. But i will agree that Aiken should get more credit. However when the team makes it known they need to attack a possession type WR FA or the draft and that's exactly what you do, I'd say the Ravens, not the fans are the ones who don't think Aiken is the answer. Lastly back to the whole poor offense thing. Imo you can't just look at surface numbers as i've been saying. As i already mentioned, the Ravens basically had no one other than Aiken after Sr when down, while the Rams at least attempted to get other guys involved. Going back to 2015 with Aiken, after Sr went down, Aiken was targeted a total of 83 times in the final 8 games. That's 10.3 targets a game. Britt was only targeted 7 times a game. So again it's about Britt taking advantage of the opportunities despite being in a poor offense, while Aiken was force feed. The numbers in those 8 games. 83 targets 50recs 611yds 3TDs. That means 66% of Aiken's production came when the Ravens force feed him the ball. That's why he disappeared when Sr returned and Wallace was added. The Ravens don't want someone they have to force feed the ball unless that guy is making game changing plays. I think Britt can be that guy but we'll see.
  9. don't wanna drive too far off topic here but I disagree that we are on par or equal footing to other teams in terms of winning to a certain extent. I think the Ravens are on par with teams like the Steelers, Bengals, Raiders, Chiefs and Broncos in the AFC, but everyone is looking up to the Pats right now. I say the Ravens are on par with these teams because the Ravens are just as likely to win the division as any of those teams and are probably more likely to advance deep into the playoff if they get there than most of them. The Ravens have had some unfortunate occurrences over the past 4 years with injuries, poor play and the Steelers or Pats just making one more play than they did. But as bad as things have been the Ravens haven't fallen down to the Browns, Bills Jets and others level. Bring it back to Free Agency. If you are a FA and looking for a team. I don't think anyone has to twist your arm to consider a place like Baltimore to play for. There are many reasons to play here and having the chance to win a SB still ranks high imo. Winning isn't just a on field thing. In fact I'd say the on field product is the last area of winning that shows up for a team. To borrow a phrase from business-owner, investor and billionaire Marcus Lemonis it's all about People, Process than Product. The Ravens have great people running this organization and it starts from the top than trickles down to the staff serving the players and fans. Then it's the Process. The Ravens have a great process to keeping this organization successful and it's proven. Finally the Product. Even though the product hasn't been as good of late, because the other 2 are firmly in place, improving the product just takes minor tweaks. Keeping guys healthy, so your depth doesn't have to assume starting roles, drafting better, guys stepping up to play better. The Product is the easiest part to fix in my experience. So because the Ravens still have those first 2 phases in place, they continue to be right there with the other playoff teams trying to knock the Pats down. I think any FA looking at those 3 things will always place the Ravens in the winning column.
  10. I never knew point spread was a determining factor of whether a team were winners or not. I mean it's great to blow teams out but it counts for the same W in the win column. But they do feel better as fans. That Dolphins game was pretty much the most peaceful gameday experiences in my house last season lol.
  11. He's coming from the Rams. They've passed for a total of 5800yds in the last 2 seasons. I don't think Flacco would be a hard sell regardless of what some fans think. Britt has never been to the playoffs in his career, do you really think he'd split hairs between the Ravens being a well run organization or a winning team because they've missed the postseason 3 of the last 4 seasons? It's funny you guys mentioned that because just last night I was with my mentor and he was telling be about the difference between his time with the Broncos and his time with the Rams. He said with the Broncos no matter the record, the standards among the players were high because they viewed themselves as winners. Even if the record said they weren't winning, guys like Elway, Atwater and Sharpe knew it only took a few tweaks here or there and they were back on the winning track. So it wasn't any walking to drills or sitting on your helmet in practice. So coming in as a 2nd round rookie all he knew was that winning mentality. But with the Rams they weren't known for winning and they didn't have winning habits. So when he was running to each drill in practice and practicing hard each rep, the Rams players called him a suck up(can't use the real language) and eventually his practice habits changed as well because he became a product of his environment. The Ravens still have a standard of winning and Britt or any other FA will see that. I agree anybody would be foolish to walk away from the Ravens especially if they do so beause they haven't been to the playoffs in 2 seasons. I chuckle when I see Ravens fans who have experienced nearly 10 years of success consistently, quickly revert to Cleveland Browns fans as soon as the team has a rough few years. Guys like Sr, Wallace, Weddle and Watson had many options to go play for other teams but choose to play for the Ravens and gave the same 3 common factors as reason. Winning culture, Flacco and some other vet spoke so highly of their time with the Ravens. BTW all 4 were offered more money else where but wanted to play for this losing team lol. People who've played or are currently playing the game view the Ravens as winners, but a small group of fans think they aren't. It's a fan forum so i guess the fans have the loudest voice here so i'll give you that. Correction: I think the Ravens were the highest offer for Watson.
  12. Somebody is gonna strike gold with Britt because I feel many will look at his time with the Rams as underachieving. When in reality he's done extremely well for them considering what he's had to deal with and the QBs he's been forced to play with. Garcon is gonna get a ton more than Britt I think and I think Marshall might as well. While teams are fighting over Jeffery, Garcon, DJax and others, I'd attack Britt the minute FA opens, offer him a fair deal, sell playing for a winning team and top level QB and put the ball in his court.
  13. Just to go a bit deeper on the love for Britt. His numbers on the surface look below average. But when you compare his on field production to some of the games best, he actually measures up pretty well. Based on what the Ravens said they wanted. Veteran WR who can move the chains consistently, pick up key 1st downs and making game changing plays with the game on the line. Britt has done all of those things for a crappy offense. This is how Britt would measure up to other AFC North WRs. AJ Green: 349 Targets, 221recs 67% 1st downs, 21% went for 20+yds, 2% went for 40+yds with 20TDs A. Brown: 528Targets, 371recs 62% 1st downs, 17% went for 20+ yds, 4% went for 40+yds with 35TDs K. Britt: 267 Targets, 152recs 72% 1st downs, 26% went for 20+ yds, 7% went for 40+yds with 11TDs Both Pit and Cincy passed the ball at a much higher volume than the Rams did. What could Britt do with more targets? Now let's look at those same number and compare them to the #1 WR the Ravens have had the last 9 years under Harbs. D. Mason 08-10': 355 Targets 214recs 74% 1st downs, 14% went for 20+yds, 3% went for 40+ with 19TDs A. Boldin 10'-12': 327 Targets 186recs, 70% 1st downs, 22% went for 20+yds, 1% went for 40+yds with 14TDs Smith Sr 14,-16': 308 Targets 195recs, 57% 1st downs 20% went for 20+yds, 5% went for 40+yds with 14TDS So even if you dropped Britt into the Ravens offense over the last 3 years, his numbers probably would have been on par if not exceeded what we've had as number #1 targets over the last 9 years. The Ravens have never targeted their #1 WR less than 100 times and by comparison Britt was only targeted 100+ times once with the Rams. That was 2016 when he put up 1,000 yards. Unless a bidding war starts for him, I think Britt would be a perfect fit for the Ravens. He gives you both possession and big play ability.
  14. First off, getting paid like a legit #1 WR and the dollar amount of $7-$10 Mil per doesn't go together at all. Jeffery is likely to get somewhere between 15-17 Mil per and when guys like OBJ. AB, Evans etc hit the Market next year that number might shoot up to 19-20 Mil. That's legit #1 money. The Rams just gave Tavon Austin 10M per and Britt had outperformed him the last 3 years in the same crappy offense. If Britt commands more than 8Mil per than I don't think he's on the Ravens radar.. But in terms of why the love because he fits what the Ravens are looking for and at 28 he'll offer a few more years to the table than a 33 year old Marshall(i'd love have him btw). I can promise you there isn't a talent evaluator inside the Ravens building who is going to run to NFL.com and look at his career numbers when they are asked to give a scouting report on him. That's what we fans do. What the Ravens will have do is go back, watch the field and take into account all the variables about his time in STL/LA and how well does he fit what the Ravens want to do. But going by NFL.com cause that's all i can do, the Rams offense has passed for a grand total of 5,756yds 25TDs in the LAST 2 SEASON. Well over those last 2 seasons Britt's numbers read 1,683yds and 8TDs. That's more than 30% of their entire passing game and that's good for any WR. So what could Britt do in a better offense with a better QB? It's risky but I think it's a conversation that the Ravens are having. Britt has been a steady producer for a terrible offense the last 3 years. The Ravens said they want a consistent chain mover who can make big plays when needed. Over the last 3 years, 72% of Britt's catches have gone for 1st downs, 25% went for 20+yds and 7% went for 40+yds with 11TDs . By comparison to Garcon only 57% catches went for first downs, 13% with for 20+ yds and 2% went for 40yds+ with 12TDs. Garcon has played in a good to great offense while Britt played in a offense that players called a high school offense. I'd say the Ravens would be smart to kick the tires on Britt. Not saying he's better than Garcon, but for my money, a lot can be said for a guy who can still produce in a poor offense. Britt 7-9Mil is a great deal imo.
  15. Watching him last year I always felt like speed of the game was a big issue for him. Not necessarily from a things happening too fast standpoint but from a standpoint of him learning how to use his speed at the NFL level. I too didn't think his routes were as bad as some others and didn't think his hands were as poor as advertised. I thought he just struggled with he space and timing of the routes. I think i may have saw him run 1 clean slant route all season. Not because he wasn't physical enough but just because he never really used the fear of his speed against the DB. In college you can win with speed 100% of the time, but in the NFL you need technique to go along with it. If he can develop that technique this year to set up routes and keep DBs on their heels, he's gonna get a ton of space to work underneath and intermediate routes. So of the disconnect between he and Flacco was on Joe but I thought most of it was from a timing standpoint on his routes. The timing of routes is huge, especially in the WCO. If a slant calls for a 3 step drop and ball out, if the WR rounds off that slant, chances are the pass will be incomplete or the catch will be contested because the defender is sitting all over it. Your speed doesn't matter if you never make the defender move his feet. It's little things like that BP has to learn and he'll explode because of it. I think the Ravens are banking on him as well which is why I don't see them attacking the WR position as hard as some would like. I don't think they are gonna put any significant money into the position. I think we're more like to see guys like Marshall, Boldin or VJax added on 1-2 year deals than Britt or Gracon added on 3-4 years deal unless they come cheat like around 6Mil per.
  16. Yea Britt will be tricky imo for the exact reasons you mentioned. I prefer Britt over Marshall because he'll be around longer and doesn't seem to be as problematic. With that being said I wouldn't have an issue with Marshall other than his age. So if Marshall is the guy, I'd like to see Woods added or a guy like Kupp drafted as a long term option.
  17. I think Perriman will be a huge part of what the offense wants to do in 2017. His readiness is the question. Even last year Harbs was talking about how much they wanted to unleash Perriman and they wanted to see big plays out of him consistently but he just wasn't ready after missing training camp in back to back years. Well the gloves are off now. He'll be full throttle and the Ravens will run him like a thoroughbred. Yes he'll have to improve route running and become more physical but I think the offseason and training camp will solve that issue. I fully expect Perriman to have the same type of production Wallace had last year but more TDs. I don't know what his market value will be, but I would like to see Robert Woods added to. I just love the fact that he's only 25 and he's a great route runner. I don't see him getting a big contract but you never know. If Marshall is added, which I see as likely, at 33 I'd still like to see a guy like Woods added as that possible long term chain mover for this offense. Perriman will be 24 and Woods 25, that might be a really nice tandem for the next 5 years or so.
  18. That's the biggest thing with Wallace, much like Boldin he has no reason to re-do his deal especially since he outperformed his contract last year. I think Wallace was brought in as insurance for Perriman last year. If Perriman was healthy from day 1 I felt the Ravens would have allowed him to sink or swim as the #2 WR in hopes that by seasons end they'd see #1 potential. Wallace outperformed that and has every right to feel like he deserves the 8Mil cap hit he carries in 17. I would love to add Britt, but I feel like he'll start a bidding war and I don't think the Ravens will go too high on it. I think he's a perfect fit to what we wanna do and he'll be around longer than a guy like Marshall. Just not sure what his market value will be coming off that 1,000 yard season. I really don't think the Ravens see the Ravens attacking either position too heavy in FA honestly. Unless a cap casualty comes available I think those two position will be addressed in the draft. Rarely do you find top quality guys on the market at those positions and I don't think the Ravens want to risk getting burned by putting big money into either position unless it's a Dumervile like fluke that a guy comes available. I think the Ravens will look to lock up Wagner, Juice and Bwill, then prepare for any big contracts coming up in house. Weddle might be as big as it gets for a while in terms of outside Free Agents.
  19. yes you could argue that and i agree but that's not the point. Taking that same theory that Aiken saw increased snaps because he was the backup possession WR. Let's kinda look into the future by 5-6 months. Of course this is hypothetical, but let's say Brandon Marshall is a Raven. No way he's not the #1 guy who'll be relied upon to keep the offense moving steady. Wallace doesn't fit this role at all, which is why the Ravens feel they need a veteran possession guy. That means Wallace at best would be the #2 guy and basically have the same role as last year. Now you have Perriman who the Ravens are hoping can be a #1WR but at the very least a big play #2 type guy, which is exactly what Wallace was last year. So if Perriman remains healthy, who's snaps do you think he'll cut into? The veteran possession WR that's gonna probably be used a lot like Sr was, or Wallace who has basically the same role in the offense? I say Perriman cuts into Wallace's snaps and targets this year. So if that's the case, you have Wallace splitting reps as a #2 type WR. Are you paying 8Mil to a guy who isn't even a consistent starter? As talented as he is, Wallace could easily fall to the #3 WR and if a guy like Camp, who the Ravens still believe in for whatever reason, actually puts it together as a slot guy, that's another role that Wallace doesn't fill. That's doesn't even mention if a guy like Kupp is drafted and sees the filled as a rookie. So he could easily find himself going from a starter in 2016 to a #3 or #4 type WR in 2017 getting maybe 3-4 targets per game, just like Kamar Aiken. I think the best shot for Wallace to remain a huge part of this offense assuming everyone stays healthy and improves is for a guy like Robert Woods to be added. Woods has never been more than a #2 and I think with him, Wallace and Perriman the Ravens would employ more of a committee at WR than relying on the top 2 guys as much. But if a well established vet is added and Perriman progresses the way they want, I think Wallace's production suffers because of it and if the Ravens kind of forecast that, they very well might be asking Wallace to take a pay cut.
  20. Aiken was the #4 on paper only. If you look at the number of snaps played Aiken played way more than Perriman regardless of being #3 or #4. Aiken had 595 snaps compared to Perriman's 485. So while Aiken was technically labeled the #4 WR he saw more snaps then the #3 because it's about the role each player plays. Unless Perriman just completely bombs during OTAs the Ravens will look to game plan him into the offense. He's a 1st round pick entering his 3rd year. They not only want to see if he can perform consistently, they want to see if he can possibly be that #1 type guy. So he's probably gonna see anywhere from 80-100 targets. By comparison he was targeted 66 times last year and that was basically as a rookie who missed 2 training camps. Now the coaches will have an entire offseason and training camp with him(hopefully). He's gonna be more involved period. If you're bringing in a strong route running play maker he'll definitely be on the field and I'd imagine he sees 100+ targets. So even if Wallace is labeled as #1 his snaps and targets will be cut into just like Aiken's was last year, because the Ravens are gonna almost force feed Perriman, hence the Aiken reference. So no matter where he's ranked on the depth chart, I doubt he'll be a focus point of the passing game most weeks. The Ravens won't be passing the ball as much as last year and the TEs will probably have a larger role as well, meaning more targets. I have no doubt Wallace will be here. The only way he's not is if he's unhappy that the team is trying to lower his 8Mil cap hit and things get ugly. My point is, what's his role? It will more than like diminish and I don't see the Ravens paying him 8Mil for a diminished role.
  21. I don't think the notion is that Wallace won't be productive. I think he will and no matter who is brought in at WR, Mike will be one of the starters heading into the season. Ultimately I think Wallace is extended for 2 years and someone will have to take his spot. I just feel that the Ravens are gonna force Perriman into the game plan more from day 1 and hope he performs well. If a consistent chain mover is brought in that means Wallace won't get as involved as he was last year. So if Perriman is more involved and a added vet is also at the top of the depth chart, where does that leave Wallace. So for me personally it goes back to the same situation with Forsett last year. After the draft, I said that Forsett was in danger of not making the team because the Ravens said they wanted to have a RB by committee and I didn't see how anyone could justify paying Forsett big bucks to be a 3rd string RB. During OTAs the reports were that West was pushing for 1st team and the team wanted Dixon on the field so where would it leave Forsett? Now just like that situation, this current one with Wallace is predicated on younger guys actually stepping up and outperforming Wallace to take his spot. I just think the possibly of Wallace falling behind Perriman and a added vet is real. If that's the case, along with the TE getting healthy and being a big part of the offense, that would put Wallace in a Aiken type and 8Mil would be a lot for a deep play specialist. Because of this possibility I think the Ravens look to extend him and it's possible he might be traded if he things the Ravens should pay him more.
  22. I agree with you, but the issue with Wallace is that he really has no reason to lower his cap number. I'd love to keep Mike's speed in this offense but I think the writing is on the wall with the plans for Perriman to be at the top of the WR corp and if a guy like Britt, Marshall or even Woods they'll certainly be brought in to start. So can Wallace handle not being a huge part of the offense? He was targeted 116 times last year, so can he handle a role similar to what Aiken was asked to do. Go from a starter who produced 1,000 to a backup? But then on the other hand you make a great point about Marty having his imprint on the offense more. How will Wallace perform in his playbook? I thought Wallace had one of the best season's of his career last year and think it he'll have a role with this offense if he chooses to stay. I just think that role is as a speed demon to take the top off defense or take advantage of off coverage underneath, not a #2 type. I think when we hear the Ravens say they want a compliment WR, I think they mean someone who compliments Perriman's style of play.
  23. Right but what we have to remember was that LeRon had one season where he was given carries and after that he was just an pretty average blocker. Nothing was complete about him. Juice has developed into a strong lead blocker, a very good blitz pickup back and a swiss army knife on 3rd downs, not to mention a core ST guy. That is exactly what the Ravens envisioned when they drafted him so why would you get rid of him when he developed into what you were hoping for? Also the WCO offense that Marty has run in year's past has been a deep shot to checkdown type offense, so why get rid of one of you're better options out of the backfield just because he's a FB. If Juice was a TE he'd probably be in line to compete for the starting job next year because he's out performed everyone of our TEs not named Pitta over the last 2 seasons. Juice is a weapon and this offense needs weapons regardless of what position they line up at. Juice might arguably be our best 3rd down back, keeping him is a no brainer for me unless he's asking for a crazy amount of money.
  24. Yup, my only concern with Britt is that some team will see his 1,000 season as him finally putting all the injuries behind him and possibly realizing that potential he showed early in his career. With that his value might sky rocket and some team will give him more than the Ravens are willing to. He and Woods are my top two targets right now. If you can get either on a visit don't let them leave without signing a contract.
  25. When have the Ravens ever had a complete FB? The Ravens have had strong blocking FBs, but never a guy who could be used as a weapon like Juice. You say Juice is nothing more than a H back and I say that's exactly why you re-sign him. Just look at how he's been used the last couple years and then think about how the FB position is used in the WCO. Juice is a weapon that won't cost the Ravens a ton of money to keep, why not re-sign him?
