  1. I wish he would have simply cashed out and kept it classy. Heck he earned every penny. OTOH Baltimore stuck with him when his body was failing.
  2. Upshaw is one those guys that gets appreciated most after fans see the hole that he's left. He may not be a superstar but a guy that can get the job done and stay that healthy is no easy find. He's worth what he can negotiate to whatever team is willing to bring him in. I wish him all the best.
  3. The next Ramon Harewood is bad thing to be.
  4. That awkward moment when you realized you've just described Perriman. LOL Besides, That's what slots and TEs are for. We've already made a mess of the place trying to turn a speedster into a shifty route runner with Smith. You just have to let speed do what speed does.
  5. Perriman is likely to replace his drops as well.
  6. He's earned the right to compete for a spot but not much more than that.
  7. This is interesting and highly conflicting given the Ravens' skewed sermon on how "splash"signings don't work.
  8. Hue Jackson is great hire but they have an owner that will find a way undermine the team. I'm more curious to how well their GMs MLB experience translates. .... and they still need a QB.
  9. Ed is an assistant coach. he's likely to spend more time learning to than making Buff's secondary do a 180.
  10. Forsett's return to the 53 may not be written in stone IMO. With Allen , West, and Taliaferro you have guys that can make things happen without the seas parting. i love his patience but with Forsett the play is generally dead at first contact and Trestman loves those pile driving RBs that can tear up a defenders arms.
  11. 8th in total defense 10nth against the pass 12th against the rush Pees ain't going nowhere!
  12. Now that it's official Kendrick Lewis is likely looking for his fourth team. He was here primarily because we were broke and he was cheap. I think Webb will flourish once his ego heals. OTOH I don't think anyone will ask him to take another pay cut. A restructure maybe, but there's no way he reduces his pay a second time voluntarily.
  13. I don't think they would've have done it if the season was allowed to playout. However back in April Smith was still hobbled and notion of testing the market if things went well is solid leverage to push an early extension for a player with question marks surrounding his future ability. The option last year was smart. Extending Smith fresh out of a walking boot was not and is a credit to his agent if not a Newsome misstep.
  14. You can let it be known that after the contract is up you plan test the market especially with 2016 FA DBs expected to go at a premium. pay now, pay more later, or start over with a different DB. The options are the same regardless of when they are laid out. Everything doesn't lend it's to classic absolutes. Just like you don't have to have 51% ownership to control a company you don't have to be at the dawn of free agency signal your intentions at contract's end..
  15. He most certainly did. Smith was heading into a contract season. The choices were to sign him early or risk having to pay a premium or perhaps lose him. Rosenhaus was the better player at the table. The Ravens had already picked up the $7mil/5thyear option. A year later while under contract , there was 0 need to secure Smith beyond that unless pushed or enticed. Drew had no say in the option but after that is a different story. That's only way any competent GM wouldn't wait until training camp to see if he anywhere close to 100% in health and/or effectiveness. In the end Drew got what he wanted - a huge contract extension without having to play for it.
  16. Ozzie made a huge and expensive mistake letting Drew Rosanhause threaten him with the open market. It was just stupid extending Smith before he was even clear to practice and with no idea what player he was getting despite only 1 season of quality production.
  17. rubbish.. getting burned in consecutive games starting week 2 against Amari Cooper shook his confidence. he installed this excuse 2 weeks ago before facing the Steelers and even earlier when pees called him out for plaing scared. Not playing the ball all season has nothing to do with a foot injury.
  18. Mallett played against a 30th ranked pass defense.. That makes things a bit easier. He also didn't have James Hurst doing his best impression of a turnstile on his blindside.
  19. Smith sounds whipped and he plays whipped. He's back to facing down WO's and getting burned. A happy bounce and bad throw doesn't change that. He should stop talking immediately.
  20. Marlon brown was doomed the second he forced to line up wide. He's played slot all through colleg and her in Baltimore creating nightmarish match for any slot corner. It's not his fault that the Perriman ship crashed but it was known from the jump that he was more of light/fat TE lacking downfield speed. the Ravens have tedency to play guys outside of the realm of effectiveness and then seem surpised that that it doesn't work out. This the same team that seemed surprised that Urschel would have problems snapping the ball when Zutta went down.
  21. Phenomenal? Smith moved the ball for Steelers better than the Steeler. If K.Lewis doesn't faceguard and shove Brown in the endzone it's an easy TD because Smith never played the ball and had no idea it was right above his head. Also Kendrick Lewis is largely responsible for the called back INT and return. I do give Smith credit for catching the INT thrown directly to him by been. Smith didn't play well. The Ben simply played worse.
  22. Before Mallet came to Baltimore he won only 1 of his five games that he actually showed up for. His win against the Steelers makes 2. Two wins and goofy Ravens fans think he's on par with Flacco. Some Ravens have a knack for finding new ways of embarrassing themselves.
  23. This was a career (not typical) game for Mallet. He is no way close to Flacco and I wouldn't trust the season to him unless I had to. He had a good game against a Steelers team that played bad.
  24. Everybody worried about Smith bu what about Lewis. It his effort that made the play possible.
  25. The last regular season meeting was the 2013 thrashing we took here at home. Because of the weak division they play in the Patriots will always have an edge in home field advantage during the the post-season just like Denver.
