Elam and Brown will get every opportunity to succeed simply because of where they were drafted, if they have a decent camp, then look for Oz to try to trade them, if they have a great camp, then good for us......
Will be very difficult for Elam to get cut, Oz holds onto 1st and 2nd round picks longer than he should sometimes....If anything he might try to trade him down the road, if Perry, and Lewis really shine.....JMO...
Brown apparently had issues picking up schemes, and having issues shedding blocks, which is key for a ILBer.....Plus with D.Smith playing like a beast, and C.J being a stud, it was hard fro him to get PT....But he has the opportunity to get it in gear, knowing we are looking for a replacement for D.Smith, once he retires....DePriest might give him a run for his money in camp.....
Oz never shows his hand until a deal is done, Arrington still might be out of our price range, with more needy teams with more cap space can offer him more....
Prototype Raven....Not pretty, not smooth, not nice....Just mean, and nasty, and brings it every play.....Off the field a stand up citizen....
The way rosters are built, it's hard to keep specialist such as punt returners and kick returners, they have to also contribute elsewhere, and in this case whoever wins the job, has to be good at ST, and be able to play WR, roster spots are so precious these days....But....I'm also starting to see a trend, we are stock piling WR's taller than 6 feet, so are the ooompa looompa days over in Ravens land for WR's??? Will SSS be the last of the under 6 foot WR's????....![]()
I wouldn't count Camp out or anyone for that matter, competition brings out the best in everyone.....
No surprises....well wait...Another WR was a bit of one, seeing we have like 10 or so now....but can't pass a look see at a 6'4 225 pounder....
SSS is a rare player that he can continue to play at such a high level, but the plan with these young WR's to groom them to replace him, whether it be next year, or the following year....Because we are really deep at the WR position, i think some will be on the PS, and others on IR to keep other teams from snagging them...
I really like our safety situation with Nick Perry in the Mix, CB wise Arrington would make sense if it were to be more than a 1 year deal....But i'm also good with Melvin, and Asa...
I just love the talent the UDFA have, they are often over looked due to the smaller school, or they might not have the best 40 times, but on the field, they can ball in a system that fit their talents.....And such a thin line between a drafted player, and Undrafted today, the athletes today are just so close....
DePriest because our depth at ILBer isn't overwhelming, Perry becaUse he is a big safety that could push the safeties we have on the roster, Worthy because we all know we are looking for a slot WR who will eventually take over Smith spot next year, and he is a bigger WR, and Clausell simply because he is just a large human being, and Monroe hasn't impressed me....
I had DePriest, Perry, Wilson, Clausell, and Worthy making the team....
If he isn't ready, i see him hitting IR, as i don't see this kid getting through the waiver wire, that's if he needs a year to polish his route running and all....6'6 4.40 speed is pretty rare...
I gotta admit i am jealous of Clevelands pick Shelton, he has so many of Ngata's traits....
baltfan23 i agree a plague would be nice for the the HOFers, and greats from years passed...
I think the statue situation is right, Ed was a great player, but RL52 wasn't just a great player, and a great defensive leader, but the ultimate team leader, he could will the entire team to victories....That's what separates him from everyone else....
Even if the draft were pushed back to end of March beginning of April, the players would still be working out, to stay in shape for camp...With so many players drafted, and UDFA signed, your going to have those freak accidents...I think the ones who don't keep up with their training are more likely to get hurt...JMO...
Pats released CB Kyle Arrington....
Wilson i hope has a speedy recovery, but having said that he was a UDFA, and there are a lot more out there, including the ones the teams will cut after their rookie mini-camps....We are going into camp with our top 4 of Smith, Webb, Melvin, and Asa, the other spots will make the team starting out as ST players, and put into the mix if any of the top 4 need a breather....
Like i said he would have to fall on his face not to make the team, but he will have to make it on ST, and be out in certain situations, but he is playing behind Melvin and Asa to start the season, unless he has a lights out pre-season....
There are still a ton of UDFA CB's out there, not to mention the ones teams will cut after the rookie mini-camp....Still have lots of options....
Can't wait to hear who we end up signing from the camp invites...
I have a ton of confidence in Melvin, give him a full set of OTA's and camp, and he will be much better....He IMO goes into camp as our #3

I think with our depth at WR, and SSS running the mid range routes, Perriman can be worked into the line-up as far as play selection. by mid-season i hope he has the routes down, and the a full understanding of the offense, as far as audibles...
