  1. Well, all kinds of ouch for Ed Reed here. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/mehta-rex-loyalty-reed-hurting-allen-jets-defense-article-1.1537978

The segment after "The Return" is hilarious! Torrey doesn't believe Jacoby until the replay comes up on the screen. Dragonfly's comments and reactions are a riot.

  3. Correct. Ed didn't play in the first 2 games of the season (Houston won both) and his team(s) have lost every game since. His stats are: 28 tackles, 0 sacks, 0 forced fumbles, 0 interceptions.................where's all the Ozzy doubters now? Still, as a fan, I hope maybe we can work out a league minimum, one game deal so he can retire a Raven. I'm sure positive when he is ready to retire, the FO will do whatever it takes to see that he retires a Raven. They did something for Mason when he decided he wanted to retire a Raven, you know they will accomodate Reed. He's bound to win one game right? I mean, the Jets won't really lose out right? I knew it was time to move on from Reed and I said he would have the same type of season that Mason had after we cut him, but it is still sad to see it.
  4. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  5. I'm thinking we should invest in some 5 hr energy since our defense is so tired all the time...even when we lead TOP by 6 mins.

  6. Wow. He doesn't even get the respect of keeping his forever number in NY. Has to wear #22. Word is that Reed actually turned down the Patriots to go to the Jets. He's a grown man and if he wants to do the end of his career popping from team to team because his playing days are behind him, so be it. He will still be a first ballot HOF and in the Ravens' ROH when he retires.
  7. Then I guess the only relevant stat would be 2-7. That would be what the Texans are, WITH Ed Reed. Face it, Reed's play (or lack thereof) proves you wrong. Ozzie was correct in not paying Reed the big money to stay. You can spin it any way you like, Ozzie's decision has been vindicated.
  8. blech this is just disgusting. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jason-la-canfora/24228202/jets-patriots-show-interest-in-ed-reed-after-safety-clears-waivers
  9. Yeah no one seems to get it really outside of Davis. Reed belongs here, he's more than just a football player, he's family. Maybe he can't play anymore. I don't really care tbh. Maybe, just maybe, he can still provide something here in Baltimore on the field, where we gave him the freedom to be Ed Reed. If nothing else, he could most likely be used situationally and would definitely help coach up our young safeties. You can't teach instinct but Reed had more than just instinct. I just really think it would provide an emotional spark for this team. I could be wrong, I could be just too emotional about it to see it clearly. Don't care. Ed Reed belongs in Baltimore.
  10. Reed had zero INTs and zero pass break-ups and only 12 tackles in 6 games. He is pretty much done as a player. Houston has problems outside of Reed, I agree, but they didn't demonize him. He wasn't getting the job done. That said, Reed had a certain freedom here that he probably was not afforded in Houston. He was basically allowed to be a roamer in Baltimore and do what his instincts told him. Your comments on Elam are ridiculous. The INT you mention, was far above Elam's head. He jumped for the ball and was lucky to even get a fingertip on it. That doesn't give him stone hands. No matter though, because while we'd certainly like to see Elam picking off passes, he's paid to break them up as well. Most here don't want Reed back to play. Reality is that Ozzie was proven correct in not resigning Ed Reed this season. Guess that sticks in your craw huh? lol Bringing Reed back to Baltimore would offer an emotional boost to our team and nothing more. I could see using him in some situational football perhaps, but even that would be a stretch.
  11. C'mon Ozzie! Bring Ed Reed back home!

agreed...snatch Reed back up and let him tutor these young DBs

      ravensdfan

Absolutely! I don't care if the man doesn't see a snap. He can coach up our young safeties and retire a Raven like it should be.

  12. I don't see the Saints and/or Colts paying out that kind of coin. If he passes through waivers I hope Ozzie signs him on the cheap for the rest of this season. Please. It killed me to watch Mason's last season go through this same vicious cycle. I can't bear to watch it happen to Ed Reed.
  13. Well then. I hope the Saints & Colts don't claim him. We might bring him back then. I think it's dumb not to bring him back in. The emotional spark alone could help this team. As for who do we cut, Stokley is just taking up space right now.
  14. So that is another 420,000. Still got it in cap space and really, I just don't care. I don't want Reed going out like Mason did. Bring him home.
  15. The article on site says if claimed off waivers the team would be responsible for his $411,000 salary for 2013. We got that in cap space and we have to be up for the waiver wire before Saints & Colts right? Or does it got by last season's performance? I don't care. Bring back Ed Reed. Use him as a situational player but mainly to coach up our young safeties. He can retire a Raven and we can offer him a coaching job this off season. Get it done Ozzie!

He is in semi-retirement after the Denver game. The Teddy Bear won for us in Miami..so he's here until we lose lol

  18. I hope Flacco has a great game next week. Then all the Flacco haters will crawl back under their rocks until the next bad game.

  19. AFCN all lose Week 1. We are no worse off than before Thursday's thromping. In fact, we are better off. We've seen our weaknesses and clearly, the FO is taking steps to address them. Everyone calm down.

    1. ravensdfan

      ravensdfan

Absolutely it would have served us well to get a game up. Still, we are not trailing anyone in our division. We are no worse off.

  20. Sooooo, not a player and not an arrest, but an investigation. Browns' owner's business headquarters has been shut down and the FBI is currently investigating. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/17/sports/football/browns-owner-jimmy-haslams-business-is-under-investigation.html?_r=0
  21. Really? Let's see...it's the agent's job to keep their client informed of everything going on. Boldin claimed he was not aware of any request for him to take a pay cut. Clearly, it was a request the Ravens made. Boldin was "shocked" by the trade. You think his agent wasn't aware of anything going down? Either Boldin is lying or his agent kept him out of the loop entirely.
  22. I hate it as well. I really thought we'd work something out with Boldin. Fact is though, with Boldin's cap savings added in we're only $5.5 mil under the cap after we tendered our RFAs and the David Reed signing. There was no money to take Boldin's $7.5 mil cap hit. I have a feeling (if Boldin can be believed and knew nothing of anything going on) that his agent played everyone and forced the FO's hand.
  23. Alright, what would you have liked them to do? With the cap savings from the Boldin trade already added in, after we've paid our players, our RFA tenders and done one little David Reed signing, we are only $5.5 mil under the cap. Where do you see that $7 mil cap hit for Boldin getting paid? Do we not tender our RFAs? Do we cut half our roster? Do we restructure Ngata or Suggs and push the money back so we can be like the Steelers every season? And the $5.5 mil is before we've drafted anyone, or even picked up a vet minimum FA. We just did not have the funds. Period.
  24. No one is discounting what he did for the Ravens. I've seen nothing but love for the man and calling him a beast in the playoffs. Just because some of us understand not taking a $7.5 mil cap hit for a WR on the backside of 30 that struggled to get separation from #2 coverage and is only going to give you one more year doesn't mean we're discounting him. We're merely understanding the business side of it. There is a big difference. You can't argue the separation factor. Sure he made up for it by fighting for contested balls, we all know that, but it just isn't a different situation than Mason & Heap. It is exactly the same minus a SB appearance. That is the only thing making this situation different but that SB win does not change the business side of it come off season. Love Boldin. Wish he could have finished his time here. It just isn't going to have that fairy tale ending.
