  1. Well they were awful and how have they improved? We have a new center - perhaps - that we really don't know will be any improvement. After all - didn't they all rave about Gino?
  2. Yeah cuz it worked so well for us last season. I'm in a serious bad mood now lol This is crap.
  3. well gotta say it - the way those first two picks went pretty much killed my hope for a much improved offense.

And I look for a rebound year from Yanda. He just wasn't himself last year. Hopefully KO returns to full strength too. Not gonna miss Oher's false starts.....

Defense over Offense buddy, just look at the Super Bowl.

Defense over offense if you're at least solid on offense. If we learned anything from the debacle that was our offense last year - you can't continually ignore it and expect to be competent if players get injured.

  4. Except we won't be able to stop the deep ball - cuz you know, we still don't have a FS. And we won't be able to stop anything coming at Flacco from his right side cuz you know, we still don't have a competent RT. And we might not have any running game, again, if Rice is suspended for a few games - cuz you know, we dont' have anything behind Pierce who is not an every down back nor a receiving back.
  5. And we could have had him but no, we had to take yet another D lineman. I mean, didn't we just draft that last season? I'm not a happy camper now. We're not helping our offense at all.
  6. No - I meant all we ever give the offense are the left over scrub picks. Not that this was a scrub pick.
  7. I guess all that talk about it being time to build the offense was just that - talk - and nothing more. If we wanted to go defense with our 2nd pick - we could have at least taken a FS and filled a need. If I'm Kubiak I'm already thinking which teams I want to head to next season - one that will pay some attention to offense at draft time other than scrub picks.
  8. I put a lot of faith in this board at draft time. I don't follow college sports so I rely on the knowledge of the draft prospects from the posters & conversations here. Don't let me down! lol

Is that like a mix of Terrence & Torrey?

Yeah, it's not even his real name which is "James" but that's what I call our #82 when he makes a play

Yes it's been pretty reliable in past years. Torrence huh? I like it! lol

  9. Always miss football, but for some reason this off season is worse. Been hitting up vids of the Ravens to curb my withdrawal!

Probably because it started way too early this year.

  10. Was looking forward to the schedule release today - wish they'd just do it!!!

  11. Not shame on him for making other choices. Shame on him for making it a game of this and that and wasting other people's valuable time. We're not talking months here - we're not even talking he showed up, put some work in - and then decided it wasn't what he wanted to do. We're talking about the guy practically begging for a second chance through the media - getting it - quitting on it - then STILL being give that chance - and days later, quite cooincidentally on the day he has to actually start putting some work in - deciding - "you know what? nah - it's been a couple days - I'm over it"
  12. Well you know, yep, I'm going to kick the man now, down or not - straight out the door. I mean, this just says to me McClain woke up today and said "wait, it's Monday? dang, I gotta get out of bed & go work? Nah, I'll just retire again." Dump this dude hard Ozzie. He isn't worth anyone's time.
  13. He's going to have to do more than just make it through the conditioning test to make the final 53 IMO. Especially since he quit on his workout/tryout/see what you got time. They're giving him a chance by reinstating him so he can take part in OTAs. The ball is in his court. Either he wants this chance and is willing to work for it - or, he doesn't.
  14. I'm hoping he can teach some of that separation & route running to Jacoby, Marlon & Torrey! Or at least that perhaps they'll gain some from osmosis!
  15. I would rather see Ed Reed back here than washed up Clark & he IS washed up. It's why he's always grabbing jerseys because he can no longer keep up. I don't like Clark AT ALL! He's a dirty player! If we're going on the back-side of 30 for a FS than Reed knows us, the system & we know all his quirks.
  16. I'm excited by this signing. Been waiting on pins & needles all day. Smith might have lost some speed but he has great hands, is physical, knows how to block & is a good route runner. It will be good for guys like Marlon & Mellete (and even Torrey) to be around a guy like Smith. Hopefully, they'll pick up how to run some crisp routes.
  17. Well, gotta love that too.
  18. The offense was in shambles because we brought in old & slow vets instead of giving playing time to the young WRs we already had like Mellete & Brown. Which is what you now want to do - bring in more washed up vets. We'll draft a WR or 2 and hopefully, we'll actually give them some playing time. We'll keep Smith (of course) and hopefully Brown (though he'll probably have to compete at camp) and now Jacoby. There is also something to be said for consistency & chemistry. Something we've not had in our receiving corps for quite some time. You'd have to go back to Mason & Heap to find it. Pitta will be back this year as well.
  19. Our receiving corps was abysmal, in large part, because Jones went down, Pitta went down, and we played around with Stokely and Clark (old & slow), did WR by committee, allowing no chemistry to develop. Once Marlon got into a groove, he was pretty much the #2 guy, though when Jacoby came back they rotated in and out. I'm acutally alright with Smith, Brown & Jacoby as the top 3. I'm tired of bringing in vets that are pretty much done who always let us down and don't play their contract worth.
  20. In his 2 years in Baltimore (being out for 4 or 5 games one of those years) Jacoby put up the following numbers (returns only): 341/237 (punts) 1167/892 (kicks) Averages per: 9.2/12.5 (punts) 30.7/28.8 Holliday put up the following in the last 2 years: 481/271 (punts) 552/775 (kicks) averages per: 10/8.5 (punts) 26/27 (kicks) TDs last 2 years : Holliday 4/ Jones 4 ...and you think Holliday is better???? Then, you get to add what Jones brings on the WR side of the ball that Holliday does not: 406/455 with 3 TDs (averaging over 10 yds a reception) Holliday 17 yards. That's it. Get real man.
  21. Agreed. We should take back the boards. Shouldn't have to run to the dump thread for peace. Used to have intelligent conversations here, even when we disagreed.
  22. I know. It's a shame he got hurt because I think he would have proven all these comments wrong. It's less than a $2M cap hit for crying out loud. Bargain!
  23. The "doubters" are merely spouting what came out of Houston fans' mouths after we acquired him. He got hurt the first game of the season so he never had a shot as a #2 WR here. By the time he was back, Marlon had made a mark & they weren't going to take field time away from him. The man makes things happen. He's a big play guy and the cap hit is reasonable. People are silly.
  24. Jacoby looked good at WR prior to his injury. You could see the improvement. Once he came back from injury, he even began to catch with his hands instead of making baskets. The man is a playmaker. Whether it's a return or a catch, he makes things happen. Don't know why you'd be down on that. Especially since his cap hit will be minimal.
  25. Good news! From what I'm reading his 2014 cap hit will be around $1.875 (based off best guestimates of the breakdown of the guaranteed money). Would have hated to see Jacoby go. Now, if we could manage to keep D. Smith - not too shabby.
