  1. Well yeah I know. I even argued with TOP proof. Still - that is what I was told by the forum gods. It is all the offense's fault.
  2. That was all the offenses fault though. That is what everyone said. I still have a few stones left over when I even hinted that the defense's 4th quarter fails were part of the reason we missed the playoffs.
  3. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! You have been buzzed for trying to make this a Flacco thread. You don't pay $120M to a guy you don't trust, especially if you thought the recent SB win was an anomaly. You start looking for his replacement. Don't think we did that this draft.Or the last one.
  4. Not to mention a more favorable schedule. But then - what about the year after that? When the stop gaps begin to run out. It was why we needed a WR this draft. They aren't usually plug n play.
  5. Nah I'll be too busy watching the defense for the massive improvement.
  6. Just wait for the first crack on the offense this season.
  7. We still don't have Boldin. Just to be clear. We have S. Smith & Daniels. Who have not taken a snap for us. But they're the answer. We just used top draft picks on two positions that we used top draft picks on last season. But we're ok relying on 7th rounders, UDFAs and the like to fill our needs on offense. Just so I'm clear what I'm reading.
  8. It does say something about your WR corps when you lose one TE for the season and your offense tanks.
  9. Yes - I thought I had enough with the ones already thrown but I'm a few short for my wishing well project.
  10. What about to Zuttah? Yanda? Pitta?
  11. Well naturally. Ravens have never had a stacked O. One injury to that average offense and it's back to abysmal.
  12. All top picks went to defense. After that it is developmental players & ST guys.
  13. Ozzie is a man who is good at his job. Great even. That does not mean he is infallible. Shoot - we've seen the busts - we saw the FA mistakes last season. He makes mistakes like everyone else. So we don't have to bow down to the Great Oz if we disagree with his choice to go defense with the high draft picks. Nor does that mean we don't know football or don't like the Ravens or are heretics. Which is how everyone around here is acting if you disagree with the way this draft went. You like Brooks. He's your guy. That's fine. Doesn't mean if someone disagrees with you they're an idiot. Another likes Jerrigan. Another likes Mosely. Another likes Gilmore. It's all fine. Everyone has "their" guy they wanted and liked and are pleased as punch we drafted. Doesn't make anyone who doesn't stupid. I made one post last draft about ignoring offense. The fall out was ridiculous. Everyone said - we'll be fine. Oz will fix it in FA. Then remind me what happened? Oh yeah - injuries and we had no depth to cover. Oz is not a wizard. He's a man. He makes mistakes.
  14. Yeah honestly - I saw it for the stop gap it was - something to take the pressure off a WR pick. Wouldn't have to be "that" guy off the bat. I really didn't think they would so totally abandon the offense this draft.
  15. Really? Dude - c'mon - he is not anywhere near being a #1 receiver. I love Marlon - but he has work to do before he's in that discussion.
  16. Do you realize that was in 2005? Nine years ago? And we don't shortchange the offense. Not saying they all work out and usually - we aren't even in the same zip code to snag a guy who has even shown that potential. This draft though - well we were and we didn't.
  17. Gilmore has hands but his knock is his route running and lack of separation - which is what our current crop has issues with! Which is why I liked the S. Smith signing. Sure it's a stop gap but just maybe some of his route running and separation skills would rub off.
  18. We have not had a true #1 receiver in the entire time Flacco has been here. Not once. Because we don't draft high enough to snag anyone with even the potential to be that guy. We had a chance and we've blown it. Sure, they might not have been that guy - Clayton is a good example - but what is even more rare is finding that guy down the bottom.
  19. When is the last time we drafted a high receiver? You have to look to the future too - this was the deepest draft for offensive talent in forever - and we are usually picking late. It was the time to load up on offensive talent. Unless we sink, we will not have high enough draft picks to do it next year. And we are always saying "next year" for the offense. It was what we said last year after the draft. It was an opportunity to set us up on offense wasted. One we do not get often.
  20. Exactly. Because S. Smith & Daniels are stop gaps. Just like we give our offense every single year. There is no one to develop with Flacco and he's into year 7 now - it's getting late.
  21. Brooks will be a starter because we have no one else. Kind of like we threw Elam in as starter out of position since we had no one else. The theory is - I believe - that getting Elam into his natural position where he excels will offset not having that play maker FS we were supposed to be going after. I think he's supposed to kind of be our Troy P. I did some research on Gilmore (because I knew it was the blocking factor that probably made us pick him) and the concensus seems all over the board. Some have him #2 but most put him at a servicable #3 TE after development. So this one doesn't really bother me for right now. If necessary we do have Juice who could be used as a TE. That gives us some depth there.
  22. It may all come to pass - who knows. I guess I am the only one here who is old enough to remember 2006 - arguably better than our 2000 defense - when it just wasn't enough to overcome poor offensive play once the post season came around. Then waiting around for a franchise QB for all those years. Now that we have one - we hang him out to dry and don't give him support around him. It is balance that wins championships. And we're out of balance right now.
  23. You're mistaken. It's 3 Pro Bowlers, a star in this league and 3 starters from UDFA. (that I've seen).
  24. It's the vent thread. Don't like it, don't read it. Join any myriad of the other threads calling even our UDFAs future Pro Bowlers and drink all the kool aid. Our offense was our most needy. Not that our defense didn't have needs - most notable a CB and an impact FS. We got a FS - not an impact one - but no CB. Oddly - the pick that most ranted about when it happened I understood. I thought we reached for Gilmore but he was a blocking TE - so I understood it even though I felt he'd have been there later on.
  25. Don't know why you're waiting on that tape - every one of these guys is going All Pro - smh. It's ridiculous.
