  1. Forget about Perriman this year, he's not seeing the field at all, imo. I gave up on this year for him last month. And by the way, I'm giving us a chance in this game Monday Night, just like I gave us a chance vs. S.F. Any given day, you know. After watching the Terps game today, I've come to realize that our teams like to keep it close, but cannot close, either with their offense or their defense. MD had 3 turnovers in their last 4 drives, I read. Unbelievable! I thought I was watching the Ravens there for a minute. We'll see if we're in for another close game, soon enough. Maybe a real treat for the Halloween Season. ugh!
  2. I agree with needing more backups that are game ready, in case you're starting WR or CB goes down with an injury. We need at least 1 more speedy receiver over the next offseason. We're good at TE, so I doubt even Ozzie would seek another TE. We need talent to match up with the likes of Pitt. and Cincy. They are light years ahead of us talent-wise and our record is showing that. Without comparable talent next year, we'll be 1-5 again. Hopefully, we'll use the remaining games this year to find out who's game ready to start or be 2nd string players for next year. I hope we have some options right now on the team and we don't have to totally start over team-building for next year!
  3. I bet we'd be better off not even drafting a WR. It's some kind of curse to be drafted in the first few rounds by the Ravens, if you're a receiver. I was the number 1 proponent of drafting a WR in the first round. That was all I wanted out of last year's 1st few rounds. Then we got the best tight end in Maxx Williams in the next round, wow! I was stoked, like many people around town. It's unfortunate that we are so terrible at getting WR's in the draft, but we really are snakebitten.
  4. I guess you'd have to change your handle (name) if Ozz leaves the fold!
  5. We really need 2 really good WR's. One with speed, such as Perriman (healthy) and one who can move the chains, such as a healthy Campanaro. I know what the Front Office was thinking. They assumed we wouldn't have an overwhelming amount of injuries, especially on offense. We're not so very far off of having a better offense next year. But, then again, there's always injuries, every year, so we have to stock up on playmakers, imo.
  6. You're absolutely right, every game should not come down to the last possession. Yet, here we are, where every game HAS been decided in the final 2 minutes. What I would like to see this week, and especially since our playoff hopes are near zero, is to try to score as many points as we can early and through the game. That means going for a touchdown if it's 4th down and goal from the 5 or so. If we use all 4 downs close to the goal line, and actually throw the ball in the end zone, when close, not short of, so we don't get stopped. Since our defense is the worst and probably helps the other team score instead of hindering them, we need to score 35 or more points every game. That hold true this week against Arizona, since they will most likely score 30 points or more.
  7. Most teams spike the ball to stop the clock, in that situation. I can picture Aaron Rodgers, or Big Ben, doing just that. We didn't seem to be aware of what to do in that situation, which is tough to understand, for a 7 or 8 year veteran like Flacco and Harbaugh (head coach). Who knows, an extra play or two and ... yeah, whatever, we're just not that good right now and I understand that.
  8. Why even spend money on a good receiver, he's either going to get hurt or play good and then go somewhere else. Face it, we are snakebitten when it comes to WR's.
  9. Yeah, it's our defense for sure. It's almost impossible to lose to an average (or below avg.) team like Baltimore when you're setting season high numbers for passing yards, like 4 times this year vs. our awful defense. I don't think we've faced a team with as bad a defense as ours. Wait do we play Jax. this year???? No, but even if we did, by the end of the game, their QB would look like Joe Montana. And, if we played N.E. this year, they'd put a hurtin' on us that we'd remember for years. Like someone here said a few weeks ago, when we were getting 10 -15 penalties a game (mostly of defense), 'If our defense wasn't on the field they might take longer to scrore.'
  10. I don't watch every game on the TV, let me say that, but we have got to be the worst defense in the league. We are Kingmakers when it comes to opposing QB's. Not only do we have problems with players staying on their feet each week (it seems), but we give up more 30 yards passes than anyone, I bet. And for heaven's sake, why do we have such a hard time with staying on our feet in the secondary. Are we getting juked off our feet, are we tripping over our own feet, are we tired and just want to sit down during the play??? What is going on with that, we're leaving receivers wide open. Heck, I hope we play the worst QB in the league (whoever that is) this year, because he is going to look like a king by the end of that game, watch!
  11. Swiss Cheese Secondary! That's funny! I'd say I like it, but it really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. These guys have got to learn how to get into good coverage so these 3rd and 4th tier quarterbacks don't leave the game looking like Joe Montana after a day's work.
  12. Dean Pees says we just need to be consistent. Well twice, we've had game winning Interceptions wiped out because of penalties. And we're one of the most penalized teams in the league. Every game we're throwing away wins. If that isn't consistent, I don't know what is??
  13. I'm pretty sure it's not Harbaugh's fault the team can't play defense. We're doing very well on Offense, except for the 4th quarter, in which Flacco (I've read on ESPN) is the 32nd or worst QB in the league. I'm also pretty sure that's not Harbaugh's fault either. And give him a break, lots of teams around the league would give a fit to get a perennial playoff coach like John.
  14. Forget that stupid doghouse and bring up Mcgee. We need some depth and experience and he, though not a Raven long, has it, unfortunately.
  15. @ JCMerrell. That is so freakin' funny! That, line up far off the receivers in short yardage situations and get beat deep every 8th play because you finally figured out how to defend short passes, just like in N.E. last January! Ha!
  16. Great story! Now, how many picks is he going to get?
  17. The Juice is good at that and I'm glad he's not fumbling this year....I remember him having a couple of fumbles last year, I believe.
  18. I like what Trestman is doing, the plays he's running, especially trying to use our running game, which is worth the effort. The bootleg was a nice trick, certainly it worked brilliantly. We're scoring enough points (vs. Raiders and Browns, both losses we scored 30 points), it's our defense that's giving those perennially bad teams the game with giving up 33 points.
  19. I hope for good effort from James and Jackson. I have a hunch Asa is our guy and we'll keep him. He plays hard, fumbling problem or not.
  20. How many years is Wright a Veteran? I'm not sure, but the 'Next Man Up' philosophy is being re-defined right now, here in Baltimore. Has anyone else in the league had that many injuries? We've got about 10 guys on the Injured Reserved List and you wonder why players run out of bounds at the end of plays instead of pounding it into the defense for an extra few yards or break a few tackles and get more yards that way. It's not worth it and Forsett could have avoided contact on his last run, I noticed, but I was hoping he'd run over someone; of course, he ended up leaving with a bad ankle...Back in the late 70's early 80's RB's like Earl Campbell would never have taken the sideline route to avoid a hit. They wanted to punish the defender and maybe break one for a score. Times have changed...
  21. We've got a bunch of starters that are making penalties, then they're getting injured and even younger guys and more inexperienced guys are steeping onto the field and they're making mistakes, too. It's tough when you say 'Goodbye' to a lot of veterans in order to save money. Then you don't have the leadership that some have talked about as being missing from this team. I know we're all about drafting players and getting a lot of draft picks and so on, but we need to start paying VETERAN players enough to keep them here, in Baltimore. Otherwise, we're left with a team of hacks. Dumervil is a leader and a veteran. Suggs, though he's out for the year, is a veteran. They're few and far between on this team, imo. And Flacco is an 8 year veteran, but he doesn't get players fired up and I like Joe regardless, but we do need to pay experienced players to entice them to stay here.
  22. I must say, it's a little surprising that the Browns and the Raiders, both who were awful last year, particularly Cleve. losing 5 in a row or something, last year, but Oakland only winning a handful of games, that these teams are scoring 30 points or more against us and they are racking up records for yards as well against us. That is alarming, if we cannot shut down those perennially bad teams. I hope Forsett makes a comeback this coming week, as I'm looking forward to a much needed victory to settle the sting of losing to Cleveland.
  23. You've got it right on the head, law215. My biggest problem is with our secondary. They're not covering anyone (the opposition's QB has his pick of who to throw to, with no bad choices around), also, we're not tackling well and, finally, maybe just re-iterating here, but our Linebackers are over-matched covering backs. Now, we've had tons of players playing the secondary, due to our starters getting injured, so why is it that 8 different players or more, are stinking up the joint? How can every CB or S, including Jimmy Smith, have bad games all the way through??
  24. I don't blame anything on the offense. Yeah, sure Flacco could have hit Aiken on that bomb or whatever, but no QB is 100% for a lot of reasons. I really believe you cannot let an opponent score 33 points or even 28 points and expect to win, especially a team like Cleveland, although they're probably talking about us that way, now that we're alone in the AFC North cellar. Moving forward (always), with our shaky, scratch that, awful defense, particularly the secondary, which has been ravaged by injuries and uneven play to put it mildly, we need to score 40 points every game, figuring we'll give up 30 some points to any team...ugh!
  25. or get burned with long completions...hope not.
