The problem with Saturdays though has to do with college football being played then. I hardly ever watch it, but there are plenty of people who do. Fridays sound nice, as long as the NFL is able to make it work for the West Coast people, and if we can work around the Arena Football Schedule, which I believe plays on Friday nights. Here's another idea: What if, say, NFL Network was to make themselves useful by televising an early game on Sundays? Currently they do "Scoreboard Watch," which I don't think anybody really pays attention to because if they want to see the scores of other games they can either A) Look at the bottoms of their TVs while watching another real game or 2) Grab a laptop or phone. It would not be feasible for them to do a 4-4:30 game because they typically show highlights of the early games then. I understand that the coverage probably wouldn't bee too amazing, but the idea of giving us all a 3rd 1 PM game to chose from would be great, especially for the people out of their favorite team's market zone.
