  1. Anyone catch this?

Basically Richie Incognito doesn't think Ted Wells or Roger Goodell does things fairly.  We knew this about Goodell.  But Wells is not some "independent" investigator.  Say what you will about Incognito, but I always thought he was unfairly treated.  I think his whole case was a pile of crap.  Anyways, I still think Brady is a cheater!  But the process is certainly more than flawed.  I wonder if Incognito's revealings will have any impact in the legal case for Brady?

  2. I don't see how kicking 20 balls in a game (5 FGs and 4 extra points, plus 10 kickoffs ... which is still a lot for most games) is a big deal.  Kickers boot hundreds of kicks in practice the week leading up to a game, and they get rest before a game.  Frankly, 33 yard FGs are not physically taxing - it's all mental.  Add another 10 yards to that then you have leg strength starting to come into the equation.  But overall I don't see 'kickers getting tired out' as a legitimate concern.

Now if you have one kicker who is autoMattic but not that strong from beyond 48 yards (cough cough) then it might be worthwhile to have a 2nd "power" kicker on hand.

  4. I thought he did a credible job of explaining 1 PSI of difference. The problem as I understand it is there was a 2 PSI difference for them and none for the Colts. He did also drop hints that it might have been the officials themselves that caused this and repeatedly said he doesn't know what they do. Also dropped in some "different gauges" stuff.

Flat out lied when he said they don't push the line on rules, though.

I noticed this also. To someone on the outside who is not familiar with the situation would probably say they believe him.

  5. I highly doubt there will be anything to prove that Brady knew about it - but lets be serious.  There's no way he didn't know the balls were under inflated.  If a linebacker can tell, then there's no way the QB throwing the ball doesn't know.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats get off the hook on this unfortunately.  I have a feeling it might come down to the refs not doing their job properly.

Yep, I can see the Patriots getting off clean.  As long as the NFL makes money they don't care about this stuff, they just want it to go away.

  6. I don't see how Tom Brady gets punished unless there is evidence he was involved or knew about it.  Ultimately Belicheck is responsible.  An appropriate punishment would be, in my opinion:
    1.  Suspended Belicheck from the NFL for 6 months effective IMMEDIATELY.  This means he cannot be part of the Super Bowl ride, and will miss most of the off-season business.  Any violations of this tack on an additional 6 months.  This would be handled the same way Sean Payton was suspended = ZERO contact with the team.

    2. Revoke the Patriots' top two draft picks.

    3. Fine Bob Kraft 5 million USD.  He too is responsible.

    4. Place an asterisk (*) next to their win over the Colts last week.

The Patriots are always trying sleazy ways to win, and we know they have done this many times in the past, they just got caught this time.  They have a reputation of "cheaters."  Lay down the hammer so they don't do it again, and send a message to everyone else.

  7. The new changes and clarity on punishment for domestic violence are a good thing.  In reality they need to have a scale in place for all offenses, i.e., first DUI = x games suspended, second DUI = whatever, and so on.  Some rulings are not consistent.

Let's not kid ourselves; Rice got off easy.  He should have gotten 4+ games, 8 at the most, but he got just 2.  I know Rice is showing genuine remorse, and I know he won't do it again.  But the league cannot tolerate this.  The 6 game suspension for the first offense is a good start for the league.

Healthy market starting to emerge for James Ihedigbo following 101-tackle, three interception season

I actually liked James Ihedigbo for run support, not so much in the passing game.  If the Ravens can't replace him they should bring him back!  He might not be that good but better than his replacement.
