Um, look, plenty of people are.no one is saying that. They cheated, the outcome doesn't matter.
Yes, because that logic surely makes sense. i'm not outraged, I don't think their cheating affected the outcome of the games, therefore I'm pro cheating and have no morals.so your happy for them to cheat at long as that isn't he reason they win?
I guess your have no morales or follow any kind of ethical code then?
The point should be they cheated, they get punished, lets move on, not make ourselves look bad by trying to grasp at straws for as to why we lost. We lost because they were the better team that day.Not really the point.
Edelman was a former qb, and even I possible make that through, it was wide open. There's too much that goes into a game to say whether it did or didn't effect the game. No way to be sure of anything. But by the same token, I don't think it's a stretch to say that IF they were playing with a under-inflated ball, it could have had an impact on the following big plays off the top of my head:
Julian Edelman 51yd TD pass to Amendola (softer ball, easier to grip and throw for smaller hands like Edelman)
Edelman fumble surrounded by Ravens that kind of hit the ground and didn't really bounce anywhere as he dropped straight down to cover it
Football has always been a game of inches and seconds. No way you can honestly say that if the Patriots used an under-inflated ball that's the reason the Ravens lost. But by the same token, you can't say the Ravens would have lost regardless either.
I've seen balls fumble and take weird bounces or no bounces.
Again, you're reaching to make these pseudo scenarios where their cheating helped them to win. If our secondary was worth anything that game and Brady was throwing pin point lasers into tight coverage and that propelled them to victory I'd be tooting a different horn, but their guys were so wide open most of the game that the balls could have been over inflated and they still score that many points.
I agree with 2,3 and 4. But as far as 1, or anything in the same boat, it's a big waste of time and it's above us as Ravens fans and football fans to sit here in a Debate of what ifs.1. Not saying it is why we lost or why the Colts lost. On the other hand, can't say it isn't why we lost either. There are numerous ways it could have affected the game at different points.
2. Do you really believe for one second that if the Pats have been using deflated footballs there are not other ways they're skirting the rules and not getting caught? That could/do have a much bigger affect on the outcome of a game?
3. As soon as Tom Brady said "he couldn't tell the difference" and "he doesn't give it a thought" you know it's a lie based on previous statements he's made. Only one reason you lie.
4. Even if it had no bearing at all, cheating should never be rewarded. Since they feel they can twist the intent of the rules (the shifts in our game) and outright thwart them (deflated balls) the NFL must come up with a deterrent that actually costs them something to keep them from just doing it again.
Yes, because of our poor secondary, not because Brady was zinging it into all these tight windows beating our good coverages. Not because of an under inflated ball. The only things that would have won us that game were completely on us to execute and we didn't. The loss is 100% on us.Why not? In the second half NE just played 4 "runplays" 3x kneedowns and a sneak... 2x they were down 14 Points. If they fixed the balls in that game there might be some more incompletions in critical game situations. I don`t think the Colts would have won - but with only 4 points in our game the outcome could have been different!
Certainly not a stretch to think the Ravens could have won. Just the possible recovery of fumbles alone could have been worth 4 points.
Don't think you are grasping the importance of increased grip on the ball when it is cold. Easier to handle for anyone touching it.
Didn't have any impact on the following:
Daniels dropping touchdown catch
Flacco throwing an int
Secondary being owned in the second half
I just feel like it's ok to say the Patriots cheated, as long as we aren't using it an an excuse as to why we lost. And if we can admit we lost not cause of that, then when you sit back and think about it, the whole thing seems very blown out of proportion to me.
So you guys are telling me if the balls hadn't been deflated, that the Ravens or Colts would have won?
Not buying it for a second.
You don't have to explicitly state that they haven't done it before, that's not what ravensdfan is getting at. He's saying that you're discounting the fact that its likely they've done this against many opponents in the past. Whether or not it affected the results of our game or the Colts game is irrelevant. It very well could have affected the results of any single game that they played in the past where their balls were illegally under inflated.
Then you can't say that this cheating did not have any bearing on them being in the SB because you have no idea how many games, nor which games they used this illegal tactic in and how it affected those outcomes.
True, but with no proof that's all entirely speculation.
It's cheating, they should be punished.
I've only experienced football on a high school level and local church flag football league, so I can't say I speak from great authority...but I honestly don't see how under inflating footballs is a big deal or even illegal if both teams inflate/deflate to desired psi within a specific range...and even then if they go past that, the level of cheating isn't so egregious that I can say or feel that it gives them a huge or substantial competitive edge.
So punishment I'm all for, but i feel like if we even try to pretend that if they hadn't cheated they wouldn't be in the Superbowl right now is baloney.
Now, perhaps if they're willing to do this and add i Spygate, one can speculate there are other dishonorable tactics at play that we don't know about from the Patriots, but again, all speculation.
Do you really think that this is the only time they've done this? C'mon. You don't even attempt this in a game like the AFCCG unless you're confident about getting away with it because you have before.
However, there is no way they're going to stop or postpone the SB. Too much money involved.
No where in my post did i say they've never done it before.
Wouldn't have changed outcome of Colt's game period. I can make a pretty convincing argument that it didn't really impact our game either.
They should be punished, but don't think suspension for Super Bowl is warranted.
Also, not to thread hijack...but does this mean that Forsett is likely gone? I mean, it's not like we brought in a guy with a pedigree for good running games. Maybe the offensive line will be good enough to make for it, but still...
Not a fan of the hire, but I wasn't a fan of Kubiak either and that turned out well.
This thread has been "stolen" to be our "Next OC" thread since that's what it's about.
My head hurts.....lol. These threads change daily it seems
All I can think is Jimmy Smith being considered a bust his first few years and now he is the reason we didn't win as many games. Lets give him little bit yet
Jimmy's problems were easily correctable and more a function of needing to adjust to defending NFL receivers and offenses. (Not turning head to play the ball, not biting on double moves)
Elam looks lost on 99.99% of all plays. Can't tackle, can't cover.
Name two good plays from Elam this year...cause I can only name 1
Currently
How I Met Your Mother - Netflix
Key and Peele
Impractical Jokers and their spin-off Jokers Wild, which isn't as funny but still decent
Archer - Netflix
It's a comedy season and all of them are really good. Key and Peele will be strangely cinematic, too, which is different for a sketch show and I love it.
See, I loved Archer from season 1-3, but lately the new stuff just can't hold my attention anymore.
I like HIMYM, but I've never really gone out of my way to watch it, just watched it if i caught it channel surfing. Funny show though.
Yeah, there are definite filler episodes but even those are several times better than what they had in the Original Series. I also don't understand the "just another Borg episode" complaints I've seen around the interwebs - there have only been three so far by my count (five if you count the two-part ones twice).
I actually thoroughly enjoy the Borg, almost wish there was more, as you said there aren't as many as people would lead you to believe
There are some dry spells in the series, but overall much more entertaining than the original series.
Bit of a nerd - my favorite shows are Doctor Who and Supernatural. I also thoroughly enjoy American Dad.
Of shows no longer running, House is one of my all time favorites, and Star Trek Next Gen is another personal favorite.
Ok, does anyone else have trouble stopping the run in this game more than ever? If I purposely play the run I can contain it at the expense of being gashed over the top for a huge game. If I don't hold a safety in to watch for a draw I get gashed often for 15+ yards sometimes. They've readily made Cover 2 Inverted available in different formations this year but it only works so well, plus it's easy to pass on.
I really don't like the new playcalling format, and not just the ask madden part, but going in and choosing plays. Is there anyway to change the formation playcalling screen back to the more conventional view?
Ofcourse, the playbook is slightly changed this year so part of my problems stem from that combined with a totally new layout/look.
Also,
Already lots of problems in the 3 games I've played...
There's no such thing as a pass rush. Had 0 sacks in 3 games. The one chance I had at one, Madden decided that Russell Wilson could run over Brandon Williams.
Opposing QBs complete nearly everything. With no pass rush, receivers get open and QBs take advantage.
There's no running game either. Everyone on the opposing defense is all world at getting off of blocks.
Even if you find space, there are no breakaways. It feels like all LBs have 99 speed. Closing speed all around is ridiculous.
Overthrows. Good lord. Probably 30% of my passes go 10 yards over the receivers' heads.
I also had a punt that bounced off of Jacoby's head. Didn't even attempt to raise his arms.
Luckily I didn't technically buy it this year.
I've had the same problems, minus the over throws as I've not had the luxury of a pocket that lasted long enough to attempt a deep throw.
not the point..We need to make the most of this cap. Jacoby jones isnt going to make us better. We havent addressed FS or Center.
We need a difference maker.
Jones was and has been one for us. If he hadn't been injured by a teammate last year he might have put up some nice status
Yeah... Flacco really tore it up that 2nd half!
You are so ignorant it hurts...you did see the pass protection completely break down and Rice fumble right? And when that stuff calmed down, he drove us into field goal range twice to score the crucial points we needed. Please just take you negativity and ignorance somewhere else.
what about the QB?
They did alot better then some teams with a qb just saying.............
Also you do know the draft is coming right and FA to..........
So nothing, thanks.
Flacco isn't necessarily elite, but he's certainly a known commodity and you know what to expect. Drafting a qb and FA? Welcome to the Baltimore Ravens 1996-2008. If it weren't for having the league's best defense of all time in 2000, we 'd have no rings and a couple playoff appearances in that span. I'm sorry, it's a joke to say a sane person would rank coordinating that offense over coordinating ours.
Flacco, Torrey, Rice, Brown, Yanda, Osemele, probably Pitta, probably Monroe, and the only question marks being a lineman or two and another receiving threat.
Most of our problems this year on offense were due to bad luck and injuries to starting players and not adapting well to those cirumstances.
cordalle patterson, AP and a blocking o-line?
quarterback?
Someone explain to me what's more appealing about Minnesota's offense, or team for that matter, that when compared to our own makes Norv Turner want to sign there instead of here, unless we seriously don't want him (and by we I mean the FO, not the fans)
Edit: I'm not saying I would be disappointed with Shanahan, but I really thought we'd bite at Turner and he'd want to come here.
I live in York, about 40 min from Baltimore but mostly steelers fans here...and anytime the steelers and ravens play at the same time...no game for me ![]()

I agree. Just don't like the what if people and people saying that's why we lost. We lost because we didn't play well enough to win.
