The contact of the first interception extended beyond 5 yards, although it did start with in the allowed 5 yards. Also, I don't know if you know this because I don't, but are they allowed to continue to hold within 5 yards even when the ball was being thrown? The second int wasn't pass interference, rather a penalty often referred to as the defender not playing the ball. It's not called often, and I understand not calling it in this case.

So when Joe throws in to coverage and it works, he's a great quarterback. But when he throws into coverage and the receiver has PI against him and gives up on the play and all that results in interception, then Joe made a boneheaded decision? Sorry bro, I don't see it.

Go back and watch the clip, Joe was not scaring Smith down the entire time, you have no idea if he predetermined to go there before the snap, and Smith absolutely gave up on the play. These points have almost unanimously been agreed upon by other posters. Actually going back and watching the play, Joe Bailey looked at all, he was looking to his left and then turn to the right where Smith was and then threw the ball in almost less than a second. Joe want to say Super Bowl by throwing to people who weren't open. If you can't realize that then go somewhere else. It's not bad to throw into coverage, if you throw the right path to the right person. Steve Smith was last year and has been in his career, the kind of person who you can trust throwing a ball too well covered. In this instant however, it did not work out but that was hardly Joe's fault. The interception return for a touchdown might be the worst result, but I said it wasn't his worst decision of the night. To me there were a couple of more riskier throws that he attempted, plus a couple of times where I thought I saw someone open and he didn't see them, even though they seemed to close to his line of sight. I'm still debating in my mind if I like the idea of throwing the ball up to Gilmore in the end zone.

To me to hold that view is contradictory of what a lot of people here support About Joe on a weekly basis, which is his aggressiveness and willingness to throw into coverage. More people were mad at Torrey Smith then Joe at the end of last year season when Joe through that interception. Me, I thought that it was a stupid decision to go deep in that instant even if Torrey was wide open. But we chalk it up to Joe having an aggressive mentality and you win some you lose some. And that's true and I excepted it, that what makes Joe great will also sometimes backfire. But it really shouldn't have been an interception, had to leave not been illegally holding or had Smith not just takien it and given up

Go back and look at comments I made at the patriots divisional game for him when Joe through that last interception going towards Torey Smith. I called Joe decision to throw the bomb Torrey idiotic, as even if it had worked out it would've given Tom Brady a minute and a half to come down the field to win the game. I'll call Joe and his crap when I see it, but saying that this pass with 100% his fault it's just stupid. Interceptions like this happen, and it's hardly because it was a boneheaded throat, rather it was her decision to put a ball in a spot where he assumed is perceiver would have a chance to make a cat, or at least it would at the very worst following complete. The decision was hardly boneheaded, nor the int even close to being all Joes fault. Does he take some of the responsibility maybe? I'm sure in Joe's mind, he thought that it was unfair to keep putting the defense in the position that he and the offense had continually put them in that day of having to maintain the lead with the offense constantly going three and out and hardly putting up any points, and thought that it wasn't going to result in a interception to throw a ball to his number one wide receiver who shouldn't have given up on the play and actually should've had pass interference called on his defender. Joe makes this kind of pass dozens of times a season, and when it works out we praise him for his ability to throw a receiver a ball in coverage, and then one of the few times it turns into a pick six we call it a bonehead a decision. Sometimes the defense just makes a good (or illegal) play.

Joe was throwing to Steve smith under pressure because he assumed it would be a safe place to throw to, even in coverage of he wasn't completely open, because he's the go to guy and its Steves job to make sure at worst the pass is an incompletion. Just because it wasn't a high chance for completing the pass doesn't mean it's Joes fault that Talib intercepted it uncontested. Read through many of my posts over the years. I call Noe in his crap when he deserves it. But last night, he nor any quarterback couldn't have done much about the entire offense sucking. Joe threw a pass that many qbs throw to their top receivers, a opportunity for the receiver to make a play. Instead the defender made the play, and did so through illegal contact.

Trestman didn't do great but it's hard to dial up much against their pressure without adequate weapons. I put this loss on Ozzies inability to field a legitimate supporting cast around Joe. For the second time in three years since he HAD a great supporting cast that Joe used to propel us to a super bowl and record setting playoff performance. Hopefully the tight ends develop or Perriman is as good as we hope he can be. We have a aging received who is at best a number two receiver, and behind him a bunch of number three and lower level receivers, with a whole lot of inexperience at tight end. Torrey Smith, with all his flaws, could have made a difference in this game. So could have Owen Daniels.

Neither interception was on Flacco. Takin mugged Smith and Smith just let him on the first one. The second one was a great play by Stewart.

Joe wasn't great, but hardly the reason we lost. Play calling and no legitimate receivers plus an 11min drive in the 4th quarter are why we lost. Plus SS dropping a touchdown.

Joe did everything he could on every play. Ozzie has failed to field a legitimate supporting cast around Joe for the 2nd time in three years since giving Joe his contract after he won the Super Bowl.
