I actually pay for all of our cats. We run our house like an adoption agency. We'll adopt them from the pound, as they have a tendency to put them down if they're not adopted within 6 weeks. We get them tested for FIV and leukemia. If they pass both of those, we get them spayed/neutered, declawed, dewormed and microchipped. Then, we start in on getting them housebroken. Once done, we take them to a "no kill" animal shelter which posts all their animals online. We get all the costly stuff out of the way, so it takes no time for them to be adopted. And who wouldn't pay $30 for a cat that has all the work already done?? Our Maine-[profanity deleted] cat we had, Jack, we dropped him off back in September -- he was adopted within 15 minutes. Rufus and Izzy were both adopted the same day they were dropped -- they were adopted as a pair. The best part is, we get updates for all o the animals we've adopted and sent to the no-kill shelter. Jack is living with a vet, even has his own 'cat room', just for him. Rufus and Izzy were adopted by a family with two young children who each wanted their own cat. I'm never getting rid of my Tortie though. I love Raven waaay too much. ~ Cosmic
