Well, a win is a win, BUT, anyone who still thinks Joe Flacco is Pro Bowl material should check into the nearest psychiatric hospital. Perhaps it is the awful play calling that makes him look not only worse but stupid as well. Time and again the Ravens fail on short yardage situations. Time and again Harbaugh blows game management, using all three time outs so the Ravens have none at the end of the game. If not for that ridiculous penalty on Pryor, Cleveland has the ball, first and goal inside the Ravens 10. Most poorly managed win in Ravens history. You won't get away with it against quality teams.

I think Joe Flacco is still pro bowl material. Yeah he wasn't perfect yesterday, but we have absolutely no running game and after the first quarter, Flacco got on a roll. I'm not liking the play calling so far. The Ravens failing in short yardage has nothing to do with Flacco at times. I'm tired of seeing those dumb pitches to the outside when we should be running between the tackles. And another thing, you can blame Harbaugh for the poor clock management, but Forsett ran out of bound when he should have known to stay in on a second down play. It's easy to point fingers to the men in charge, but you really have no idea whats going on in the game. We were also unlucky multiple times. Yeah the Pryor flag was BS, but Coleman was out of bounds on that first TD. Pitta wasn't quite set on that Moore reception that would have put the game away pretty much, and he also dropped a TD pass. The second interception by Flacco was just a little underthrown. I understand what he was doing, but he needs to put that at the back of the endzone instead of a jump ball. I think Flacco looks okay. Perfect? No. He will be just fine though. I'm more concerned with the running game and our defense getting off the field on 3rd down.

Hmmm... the Packers cut Josh Sitton - one of the better LG's in the league... LG is the position in the O-line where we could definitely do with some upgrade...

It sounds like he was cut to save some money and I don't think the Ravens are going to invest that much in a backup player.

I really doubt he would be a backup. He actually had a very good year last year and was one of the best pass protecting guards in the league. That would be a good signing IMO. We have the space to do it.

Another surprise and kinda disappointing, apparently Terrance Brooks is getting waived...not exactly sure of the source but that's according to Rand Getlin.

If this is true then why they cut Terrance Brooks but not Kendrick Lewis? I'm scratching my head on this one.

I'm wondering the same thing. I figured Brooks was a lock. Tackles well, has had his struggle in coverage but he was getting better. I'm honestly disappointed. Maybe Elam is sticking around...

I would rather cut Elam than Brooks but Elam is lucky he's on IR. Man it's really tough for a good player go. Very hard decisions.

I don't think Elam is on IR yet is he?

Doesn't matter. Camps is young and talented and would fit their system perfectly. They could cut Amendola, who is getting up there in age. They would find a way to get him on the field.

I'm doubting they are cutting a guy like Amendola for a guy like Camp who has been hurt most of the past 2 years.

Amendola isn't much better injury wise. He gets hurt often to.

Hmmmmmm..wonder why Campanaro wasn't at practice today??!!

They have been giving Camp days off all offseason, unless they announce something I wouldn't read too much into this.

Campanaro is to good of a wr to get rid of... he`s staying put

Camp has been waived with an injury designation according to Pro Football talk.

Well if the Patriots signed him he gonna be dominating in New England. ?

He's the type of WR they love, I could see them picking him up.

  7. I think this is a fair projection and will probably prove to be as close to perfect as such projections go.

What I'm not totally convinced about is that this - indeed spectacular - strip sack and fumble recovery TD Pierce had will be enough to grant him a spot. I'm rooting for him, but I'm not at all sure KLM or even Cris Carter won't push him down the list, south of #53.

Also, I think keeping only 5 CB's is a little risky. Sounds too few. Maybe a trademark Ozzie move scooping up a final cuts victim is in the folds?

As for QB, I totsally agree that Mallett's position for clipboard holding was never really in any kind of danger, as, although Josh Johnson had a terrific pre-season, Mallett was just as convincing. What I'm starting to consier is Joshnson's potential trade value... Maybe keeping him for trade bait may land us bigger value than keeping a depth player instead? I don't think it'll happen, but seeing Johnson's finale last night, I wouldn't rule it out completely, either. If he's cut, I think he won't be out of job for more than 10 minutes. He's gonna be on a roster Week #1 - we just don't know which team it will be (not the Ravens though). But for sure, the list of teams which doesn't need a QB of this caliber for at least backup duties is considerably shorter than that of those who don't (luckily we're on this list).

Don't forget Webby can play corner if we need him to. It's a risk because he can go down at anytime to, but I think keeping 5 is okay since we have players at another position who can jump in a play corner if the situations calls for it.

  8. We should just wait and see who Washington releases- they have a lot of depth at TE- their GM, Scott McLoughan is a stud- wish we had him instead. He's turned that team around, and unfortunately, they will beat us when we meet to play- unfortunately, we're still a year or two away from the playoffs.

This is probably one of the most absurd post I have seen in a while. You have to be a Redskins fan, or you have no clue about anything relating to the football business.

  9. Man, Kruger is ONE guy I would at least look at. I guess he got released for a reason, but it can't hurt to talk to him. Suggs and Doom aren't getting any younger, and the injury thing is a real possibility. The rest of the guys they have, other than McClellan, have proven nothing. Hey, getting out of Cleveland could revitalize anyone.

I'd take our young guns over Kruger any day. Z. Smith is going to have a productive season, and Correa will get snaps at every LB position. Suggs and Doom will do their thing, and Judon will spell them in pass rush situations sometimes. Then add in McClellan who is stout against the run. Tell me, where is Kruger needed? He has had 2 decent seasons in his 7 year career.

Suggs, Doom, Smith, Correa, Judon, and McClellan.

    Kruger doesn't fit here.

  10. Perriman, Perriman, Perriman. Just like we heard Elam, Elam, Elam. Perriman is a guy from a mid level college, who was known as a pass dropper, but, because of his "speed", the Ravens decided to blow another number one pick on him 2 years ago. Since then he hasn't even gotten on the field. After two knee surgeries, how much of that coveted speed will he still have, and, even if he does, how does that translate into miraculously holding on to the ball? Chris Moore is head and shoulders above Perriman.
It is nice to have the problem Urschel or Lewis. Both are capable. Sooner or later we will need them. One starts, the other a capable back up.

Easy to say that Moore is head and shoulders above Perriman when Perriman hasn't had a chance to showcase his skills. I think holding your opinion is better than stating it when you haven't seen the kid play. Give him a chance first. Our fan base has that problem.

  11. I hope Judon can help our pass rush this season. It will be nice not having to rely on Suggs and Doom to get all the sacks/pressure with their age getting up there and the wear and tear on the bodies. Hopefully we can have a nice rotation between Suggs, Doom, Z. Smith, McClellan, and Judon playing OLB. I hope they let Correa also rush the passer a good bit. We have a lot of talent on the edges.

He played in the second game. He was invisible.

OK - well, nonetheless, I still have hope that he'll have a rejuvenation of his career here - not anything like what was saw 4-5 years ago, but with a strong armed QB (unlike the one he would have worked with in the 2nd preseason game), that he can at least be considered a threat. Calling him "invisible" makes it sound as if he was worthless, but I don't know if that assessment is based on his being in for 1 or 2 possessions and didn't get a target or if he played for a significant chunk of the game and was ineffective.

I hope to learn more with him in along with Joe. That will mean - how well we do when he's on the field and not only whether he catches the ball.

Wallace will be just fine. I actually think he will have a big season for us this year. Maybe not 1000 yards, but I'm thinking 700-800 and maybe 6-8 TDs. Which, with the weapons we COULD have, that would be a nice contribution.

Also, I'm pretty sure Mallett has a cannon. Not 100% on that, but I remembering hearing he has a strong arm. Nothing like Flacco though. Literally remember watching him at a college skills challenge and he just took a step and chucked one as far as he could, and he threw it 74 yards in the air.

Does any body care what Joe accomplishes in preseason? He's a 7 year vet. The only thing that matters in preseason is that none of our best players get hurt. Play the scrubs.
In case no one noticed, this is an unbelievable offense. The line is top 5 and maybe top 2....Lewis and Stanley are monsters to go with Wagner and Yanda. Great draft by Ozzie.
When we put Perriman, Wallace, Smith, Gilmore and Pitta on the field the mismatches will be everywhere. Flacco should be in heaven. The speed of our backs with Forsett, Dixon and West is scary. This has the look of a top 5 offense and should put 30-40 points up a game. The quality of our backups is incredible. Aiken, Moore, Butler , Wiliams, Watson, Allen and Waller will perform at a high level. Plus having Hurshel, Jensen and Hurst gives us a really deep line. If Perriman stays healthy this is a lethal offense.
Our defense should be top 10. If Pees takes of the gloves and lets them play aggressive man to man then we will be a really tough team to beat.

9 year vet to be exact

Hard to believe this is going to be his 9th year.

  14. First 5 cuts

    1. Chuck Jacobs WR
    2. Stephen Houston RB
    3. Matt Skura C
    4. Tevon Coley DT
    5. Kavel Coner -LB

I think there will be some big names cut but not right away. I think some of the big names are:

    1. James Hurst T (I agree with the article)
    2. Lorenzo Talifero RB (Kid can play but cant stay healthy)
    3. Kyle Arrington CB (agree with article)
    4. Julian Wilson CB (just too much in front of him)
    5. Keenan Reynolds WR (maybe he will go to PS which I hope)

I do NOT think that these 5 guys will be cut (even though maybe they should)?

    1. Arthur Brown ILB (He is improving- just really slow)
    2. KLM (DL) (especially with the injury to Kafusi)
    3. Pitta TE (even though he has been more injured then Camp)
    4. Camp WR (we need a return guy too much)
    5. Anthony Levine S (we like his size and versatility)

I agree with a lot of that but the two I don't think make it are Art Brown and KLM. Mosley and Orr will be the ILBs, with McCLellan and Correa being the backups. Suggs, Smith, Doom, and Judon will make a nice rotation on the outside. Correa can obviously rush the passer and play inside, and McClellan has been a solid player at OLB even though his pass rushing skills aren't the best, and he has played ILB before. There really isn't a place for Art Brown anymore. KLM is clearly a numbers game. He just doesn't make the cut. The injuries hurt him big time.

  15. Since Campanaro is always getting injured at WR, maybe reserve his role to ONLY returner and very limited offensive snaps until he can improve durability. There has to be someone among the other remaining receivers and DBs who can field a punt and run a few yards and fall down if he goes down.

From a coaching perspective, if a guy is healthy and available to go, then I am going to use him in whatever capacity I think helps the team win. I'm not going to use this player only for punt returns when he can help move the chains on 3rd down and really improve our offense because his durability is a question.

  16. Give Moore a shot at the PR/KR duties.  If Perriman is healthy week one, it will probably be hard for Moore to get on the field with Wallace and Perriman ahead of him.

“This is looking more like the Ravens' situation in 2008, coach John Harbaugh's first season. Le'Ron McClain, Ray Rice and Willis McGahee all took turns getting the ball in what became a successful combination for the Ravens but a frustrating one for fantasy football owners.

Which led to McClain selfishly asking for more carries.  He was wearing a t-shirt in camp/practice that had "more carries for McClain" on it.  Don't quote me on the exact verbiage.

True. Look what happened to McClain once he left here as well.

  17. I know the said that roster flexibility is an issue but ... at this point... Hester is more reliable then Camp and Camp will not break the top 45WR behind SSS, Wallace, Perriman, Aiken and CMoore- I know that Camp is younger but for what we are going to ask him to do.... IDK... Hester may be a bigger weapon and for sure a more reliable weapon!

Camp would see the field more than Hester would. We would literally sign him for one reason and that is to return kicks. We have to many positions where we need to keep some guys that are valuable to us, like TE, WR, and RB. I don't want to use a valuable roster spot on a guy who just returns kicks. No thanks. Let Camp/Dixon return kickoffs, and Camp handle punt return. Camp has talent at WR, while Hester would never see the field on offense.

Stanley is a beast! I can't wait to see how he fares against the top pass rushers. I noticed Perriman cut his dreads. I think they were slowing him down ; )

Perriman said he felt faster and that they weighed about 3 lbs.

I think he had dreads when he ran a 4.25.....so they probably didn't slow him down that much.
