  1. And what do you want Ozzie to do? Do you know how much money a top corner on the Free Agent market will cost? Your looking at 7-8 million. Jenkins and Sean Smith will likely get more. We don't have a bunch of money to be throwing around like some other teams. Ozzie has to pick his spots. If we expect us to sign a top FA corner, you better bring your expectations down.
  2. Oakland isn't going to be the same old Oakland. They have a very good foundation in place, and I wouldn't be surprised if they compete for the division this year if they spend some of that money (which they are doing on one of our own players) and have a solid draft.
  3. Sadly, our cap space disagrees. KO will by all likelyhood be gone by Thursday, or Friday the latest. He may already have his provisional new team... I think K.O. will be gone by Wednesday at about 4:01. He is probably already gone, just deciding between teams other than the Ravens. Apparently the Raiders and Vikings are fighting for his services, and the Raiders are the likely winners. We can't compete with their cap space. We will get a good comp pick in return, that can be used for a trade next year though. I guess we keep Monroe unless we go with Stanley? I wouldn't mind drafting Stanley, but I really want to go defense with our first pick.
  4. I really don't think we need to bring any of these guys in. SSS, Perriman, Aiken, Camp, Butler, Givens, etc. We have a group of young WRs and some of them actually produced a little bit in Butler, Daniel Brown, and Matthews even did a little bit. The best bet would be bring in another WR through the draft, and then if we need one later in the summer then maybe bring one in.
  5. Bleacher Report had him ranked at number 10 last year at this time after he ran a 4.24 in the scouting combine. They also cautioned that Perriman could be a boom or bust potential player. On the other hand, Dynasty Blast had him ranked number 2. Injury aside, I want to see it translate to the field of play before I pass my final decision on whether or not Perriman remains a bust or a disappointment (e.g. Marc Clayton). As for last year, he has no statistics to prove that he ever played the game in the NFL yet. I'm a mathematician, not a football coach, statistics don't lie, Sami. Stats don't lie, but he didn't have a chance to put any up....so that makes him a bust? Another thing, I'm sure the front office doesn't care about your final decision on Perriman.
  6. He turned out to be a bust last year rather than the immediate impact player that we imagined him to be on draft day. How is he a bust because of injuries? It baffles me that people can actually say and think that. Give the kid a chance to actually prove himself on the field for crying out loud. If he plays and doesn't live up to what was expected, then yes he could be a bust. He's 6'2 and runs a 4.24. I want to see what someone like that can do on the field before I say they are a bust.
  7. Upshaw hasn't been a bad player, so it's not that disappointing. Wolfe is a heck of a player, but it's not like Upshaw was a bust.
  8. He was given a chance in 2013, he actually played a lot on passing downs if I'm not mistaken. He has been given plenty of chances in training camps, preseason games, etc. Apparently the coaches don't believe he is the best man for the job, or he would be starting. Zach Orr has been given chances, and made the most of them as he played a significant role last season. If they give an undrafted FA chances, then a 2nd round pick is going to get chance. He just hasn't played well, and I hope he does get another chance and makes the most of it, but he has had plenty of chances and just hasn't performed.
  9. Jack can literally play everywhere, even RB. Thats how good of an athlete he is. He can play ILB/OLB and probably even strong safety. I think he would probably be ILB for us. He is probably the best athlete in this draft and would really help our defense.
  10. Hate to see D. Smith released. Loved what he brought to this team, but its time to move on. He could be brought back, but I would guess after the draft at the earliest. I think this makes Myles Jack a real possibility.
  11. You do realize that last year we had TWO 14 point leads over the eventual super bowl champs at their place? That was because of Flacco. His cap numbers have been more than manageable the last 3 years, and with the cap rising every year, they will continue to be very manageable. Also, do you remember how many QBs we have had before Flacco? And the trouble we had with the position? Sorry, but if you want to have a good QB in this league, you are going to be paying $20 million plus. Sam Bradford is getting paid $18 million a year, and he is not a good QB. I would also guarantee that if we released him, he would DEFINITELY make $120 mil+ on the open market. And yes the defense decided the superbowl, but who got us there and won the MVP? Flacco. He has beeen the best QB in the playoffs since 2010, no arguments about it. Flacco deserves to get paid, and we had no other option than to extend him. You should be thankful that he agreed to do it (even though it was smart anyway on his end). If you want a good QB, you will have to pay them. You can't play musical chairs and expect to win. The Browns have the most cap space in the NFL on a yearly basis, and no QBs. Hows that worked out?
  12. Bosa doesn't beat tackles with speed. He is very powerful, and wins with technique. He is very fundamentally sound. He will stuff the run as well. He is versatile, as he could add a pass rushing presence from the inside along with the outside. He will help keep Doom fresh as well. It's not always about speed, even though it is a killer. I don't think Bosa will be a guy who puts up 10+ sacks every season, but he will get a lot of pressure and be very effective. It's also unfair to expect the rookies to come in and dominate their rookie season. There are a few exceptions, but that rarely happens. They need to develop, and that may take time.
  13. I would love to have either one. I also would love to have Myles Jack, Bosa, or Buckner. I saw this yesterday and it makes a lot of sense, and that is that the Cowboys may draft Ezekiel Elliot at 4. That wouldn't surprise me at all, and I REALLY hope that happens. If Titans go Tunsil, Browns go QB, and the Cowboys go RB, we will have a great selection to pick from. Honestly, I really think Myles Jack would be a star on our defense alongside CJ. We would have 2 ILBs that are under 25, and will be holding down the middle for years to come. He can also play some outside LB, and even SS kinda like a Kam Chancellor role. Bosa would obviously be a great pick. Jack, Bosa, Ramsey, or Buckner are the 4 that I would love to pick.
  14. I seriously don't see Bosa going 1st. If the Titans don't take Tunsil, they would be foolish to take any defender other than Ramsey. Ramsey is that good. That being said, I see the Titans protecting their QB and drafting Tunsil. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if Cleveland takes Ramsey. I can see the Browns throwing a wrench in everyone's system in the top 10. i can see the browns trading for kaepernick, garappolo, foles or giving rg3 a shot which would allow them to go defense with the #2 pick Is NE trying to unload grappolo? I don't think that would make much sense. Their first round pick was taken away, so maybe they are trying to trade him for a first round pick? I HIGHLY doubt Belicheck's best bud Roger let's that happen though, and I doubt a team would do that....never know though.
  15. You just outlined the issue. Will a team pay him as a LT or G? He also has that to his leverage, because he proved he can more than hold his own at both positions. I think there will be a team wanting to pay him as a LT. That offer is also similar to Yanda's in yearly average. According to reports, the offer the Ravens made would make KO the 2nd highest paid offensive player on the team, which should be north of 8 million (unless guaranteed money comes into play). I'm interested to see how this plays out. At least we have a decent backup in Monroe....the guy has to have a healthy season eventually for us.
  16. I highly doubt this is much of a story come August...
  17. There is a difference between the players we have lost in recent years compared to K.O. Osemele is probably being looked at as our future LT. That is a franchise position/player that you really try to keep. Honestly, we know better than to pay players the contracts like those guys you listed received. The only one we really miss is McPhee, who had a great season in Chicago. I really believe we offered him a good deal that he will really consider even with other offers on the table offering more money. If the offer is going to make him our 2nd highest paid offensive player, I'm thinking between 10-12 million a year...maybe even higher. I'm not getting to excited about this, because I know a team will throw a lot of money KOs way. I just think we have a better chance at keeping him than you believe.
  18. We all know very active in Ozzie's terms is probably signing a player or two that has been cut for very little. We are never active in FA even with a decent amount of cap space. I never get to excited for FA being a Ravens fan.
  19. I would be very pleased if we have the opportunity to draft Bosa, Ramsey, or Jack. I think all 3 players would be game changers for our defense. Bosa would obviously help our OLB group a ton. I don't believe he will be a fantastic pass rusher, but he will be dominate against the run. I'm not a scout so he could be a lot better at pass rushing than I believe, but he is a great all around player which we need. Ramsey is a play maker and can play all positions in the secondary. We need playmakers. The idea of CJ Mosley and Myles Jack chasing ball carriers down gives me goosebumps. We are going to get a great player. I wouldn't rule out Buckner either, big guy who can dominate the LOS. Can get interior pass rush and stuff the run. I can't wait for April.
  20. Where does Ozzie have leverage? Actually, he has pretty much no leverage at all. Flacco doesn't have to do a single thing with his contract if he doesn't want to. As I have said before, the Ravens made this bed, now we lay in it. We aren't going to cut him (would be a ton of dead money, and he is our franchise QB), and Flacco said he is willing ot restructure, but I'm sure he will want to benefit from the restructure as well.
  21. The ravens offered Joe a contract before the 2012 season in the 17 mil/year range. Joe was the one who gambled, and it paid off big time. The ravens had absolutely no choice but to pay Flacco. Flacco earned his contract, whether people believe it or not. If you look at QBs getting paid now, Flacco has done a lot more than they have and they are still getting paid like Flacco. That's just the NFL now. Flacco may give us relief, but he is still gong to be making around 19-21 million yearly. All of you can keep complaining about his contract, but just wait until you see what Cousins and Osweiler are about to make. Osweiler might get somewhere between 15-20 million for starting 6 games in his career....
  22. Understand what your saying, but if we trade back we could still possibly get Jack, Smith, or Hargraves while also getting another pick in the 2nd. I wouldn't mind what we do either way, because we are still getting very good players. If we trade though, we could get 3 players within the first two rounds who can make immediate impacts.
  23. Also, I saw a mock draft who had us taking Myles Jack at 6. I would honestly love that pick. He can play inside or outside, and is great in coverage. Daryl Smith had a solid year again, but age began to show in coverage last year. Jack would be a great replacement for D. Smith after next year. Mosley and Jack together on the inside, with Jernagin and B. Williams up front....wow.
  24. I wouldn't mind trading back in the 10-15 range. We could get more picks and still get a difference maker in that range. My hope is that we get a corner or pass rusher. Honestly, I want a pass rusher more than anything. We have options on our roster at corner, and could bring in a FA. Pass rusher is a different story. We will have a 34 year old coming off another serious injury, and another pass rusher over 30 as well. We need to infuse some youth coming off the edge. If we trade back, I think Spence could be a real possibility, or Hargraves from Florida. If we stay at 6, I'm sure we will still get a talented player. If we trade back, we could be talking 3 picks within the first 50 selections.
  25. You really, honestly see a viable scenario where the FO chooses to leave Flacco's cap figure intact if it can be avoided? You're just about alone with that, do you know? Well, I wouldn't say Jacket is alone. Obviously the FO would love to get something done, but nothing has been reported that they have even had discussions. I'm starting to get slightly concerned. I think the week of the combine will tell us a lot. If they meet at the combine, that's a good sign, but doesn't really mean anything will get done. I'm with jacket on this one, I don't know if something will be done in time for FA. Ozzie said they have a plans in place to deal with the cap number. I think if we want to build the best roster possible for next season, we need to get something done rather soon. It also takes two sides to tango, and Joe doesn't have to do anything if he doesn't want to. Pat and company made this bed and now we have to lay in it. Flacco seems willing to cooperate, but he is going to want something worth signing to.
