  1. Hate to see the Panthers in the SB: Cam is arrogant & a show boater, the defense is dirty & gets away with it & it is going to suck for SSS. Go Denver!

I want the quarterback who plays the best game in the Superbowl to win, and if that's Cam Newton or Peyton Manning, I'm fine with either.

They, and especially Cam, have played great football all year. IF he showboats a bit, he's earned it this year. Personally I'd rather him win it than Tom Brady again or have Peyton stink it up like he did in 06 and have his defense bail him out

To me it all depends on Apocalypse and how his character is portrayed. All of the best comic-based moves have a great villan IMO, like Winter Soldier, Joker in the Dark Knight, Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor, Ronin, etc. Apocalypse is supposed to be an intelligent, superpowerful mutant with zero conscience. He's inherently not evil, he just doesn't care. He needs to be more like the Tom Hardy "I have depth" Bane and not the Jeep Swenson farce from Batman and Robin.

  4. ARIvsDEN is my prediction and do you gentleman think Ozzie uses 6 overall on a LT?

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

A lot of the draft will depend on whether we resign KO and the FOs feeling on Monroe. If they don't see Eugene in our long-term plans, I think LT is the way they will go if Stanley is on the board. They like drafting o and d line in the first round.

  5. 49ers Retirement List: Marcus Lattimore, Patrick Willis, Chris Borland, Justin Smith, Anthony Davis

I wonder if a part of it was Jim's grind-it style - if the physical and mental strain of his coaching made it easier for these guys to consider walking away. It seems strange all these guys from the same team walking away at basically the same time - although I believe Anthony Davis said he eventually planned to come back.

100 million easily from Seattle, though I bet a desperate team will throw more at him if they get the chance.

  7. new rule change is just flat out stupid. PAT's are supposed to be easy. Thats why whenever someone ever misses it, its hilarious. Now people will be going for 2 much more, and will be so annoying when keeping track of the game

I like it - we have a good kicker, so anything that makes kicking the ball that much more challenging plays into our favor.

  8. while im thrilled about carl davis, im still super bummed about not trading up for harold or mauldin, love those guys for this team with their first step, burst, and motor.

It would have been nice to do. I'm also still a little worried about not addressing the secondary up to this point - a lot of our guys are coming off injuries and I'm still of the opinion that we would have beaten the Patriots in the playoffs with a healthy secondary.

  9. Here I was at work excited that we extended Jimmy's contract, only to come on the boards to see ppl whining about the $$$. As if he was gonna get paid any less elsewhere.

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

Should be used to this by now - if we extend a guy, people complain that we overspent. If we let a guy go, people complain we were too cheap and we're never going to replace him.

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

That's not a Favre - what you need to do is retire again, then unretire next week and demand your moderator job back - and you have to tell them if you don't get it back, you'll go to the Steelers, become one of their moderators, and take your revenge on us.

  11. who do you take if..Gordon, Strong, Perriman, Maxx Williams, Peters are available at 26?

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

Which one is a top 10 talent at a position where we have a ton of question marks - only Peters. Gordon is the only one at that talent level, and we already have a starting RB signed. Right now, one starting corner is on IR and the other was a wreck for most of last year.

  12. I'm not a huge fan of Bleacher Report, but here is a great read about WR prospect Chris Conley from Gerogia. It would be great if we could draft him IMO http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2406013-nfl-scouting-combine-star-chris-conley-more-than-just-a-great-athlete

He's one of those guys I'm hoping we snatch with a mid round pick. He's got a tremendous upside IMO, and he seems like a great guy to have in the locker room to boot.

  13. I won't be surprised if Ozzie decides to go DT in the first. Macolm Brown could be there or Eddie Goldman and both are fantastic players that would fit very well in our defense.

      Ravenslifer

Point being yes Ngata was expensive, but I don't think they would have moved him had they thought the other guys wouldn't fill his void.

It would certainly surprise me considering he shipped Ngata out while under contract after drafting Williams and Jernigan and the pickup of Lawrence Guy - all three of those guys are 27 years old or younger.

  15. isn't it time to not be known for just defense? don't get me wrong Ravens defense is essentially the only old school and real football played anymore but I'm tired of Pats and Broncos etc. to be considered shoe-ins for the super bowl based off of QB and offense. Lets balance our defense with offense. aka Ozzie please draft a WR *not Devin Smith* and a TE

@ Polynesian getting separation isn't everything. Alshon Jeffrey struggles to separate but is able to outjump and outmuscle defenders for the ball and picks up a good amount of YAC for a speed deficient player. I'm not saying Strong will have that much success because it's impossible to project, but his comparibles that have made it are guys like Alshon Jeffrey and Marques Colston, speed deficient guys that have made a living in the slot and finding ways to make YAC.

  16. i am convinced dorsett is the best wr option for this team. a trade up for him in the 2nd would be worth it even if we had to give up our 3rd for it.

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

Why not just move back into the second and take him, and gain picks while doing it?

  17. Would the Ravens trade up for a receiver? if so, who?

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

If we could move up without giving up more than a third and a 5th, maybe. I don't think we'll risk the second round pick unless it's Amari Cooper, and even then I don't know if they'll do that.

  18. With the mess in SF with everyone retiring left and right, you have to feel sorry for Torrey. He deserves so much more than this. Hey Jed, we'll give you Arthur Brown and you'll give us Torrey back.... Deal? :)

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

Why feel sorry for Torrey? He has a ring, he has money in the bank, he's re-united with Q, and IMO most Ravens fans have no hard feelings over him leaving for that big of a contract. The 49ers may be bad this year, but there's always next year. I think he's perfectly happy in San Francisco.

  19. I am starting to get a little impatient and annoyed with the front office because I know Ozzie is a great GM and all, but they have had several opportunities to sign some quality defensive players and are letting them go to division rivals (Tramon Williams) I just want them to fill defensive holes and draft offense. I don't want to anticipate the draft and then have them take a pass rusher or DL or CB in the first round when they could have filled these holes better in FA. We need playmak...

Currently we have 20 million in dead cap - 15 million of that is Rice and Ngata, which would have been worse had we outright cut him.

For one, Ngata was not worth the contract, and the cap hit was simply unrealistic for what he was giving us, especially given we have guys on the roster that are playing well in his spot. Number 2, we needed cap room to possibly sign some of our current FAs and/or extend deals of guys who will be FAs n 2016. 3, you always need cap space for injuries, street signings, and drafted players. 4, Rice's dead money was already an albatross that we couldn't escape from.

  21. Greg Jennings just doesn't make that much sense...hes 31 and on decline. Last time he hit 1,000 yards was in 2010. Waste of cap space when we could grab Jaelen Strong for around a mil and get more production. marlon brown and Kamar Aiken and Camp all able to do as much as Jennings could

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

Not pounding the table for him, but the idea that he's done because of poor numbers in Minnesota may not be true - look at SSS, when we signed him last year half the board said we'd just signed a washed up 35 year old who was a waste of a roster spot. Sometimes just going to a better QB and having a starter across from you who is respected by defenses can make a major difference.

    1. Ravenslifer

      Ravenslifer

At Flex, Im saying I'm sick and tired of signing 30+ y/o vets at the receiver and TE position only to have to look for somebody new 3 years later. It's past time we find a guy that can be here with Joe until the end of his career.

He's not a bad player, but it's far passed time the FO went out and drafted a young stud receiver that will be here until Joe finishes out his career.
