  1. We got their second and 4th
  2. So we traded back again. I want to know what we got in return.
  3. Alexander is still there
  4. Nice call.
  5. And a whole bunch of Ravens fans exhale.
  6. Why? Only 6 players can be taken before we have to pick anyway.
  7. Traded 3 picks for a guard? Good call San Fran.
  8. I wouldn't - as good as he is, he's an ILB - we could get an impact pass rusher or corner with our next pick, and I think in today's league those positions are more valuable.
  9. That's not true at all - the only people who gave us a B- was Walterfootball (and that was Walt, their poor analyst - Campbell is the more knowledgable of the two and he has yet to say anything) and those know-it-alls at PFF who never have anything good to say about the Ravens. SI and CBS gave us a B, USA Today an A-, Mike Mayock loved the pick.
  10. Or they could try and keep teams from routinely scoring 30+ a game on them and not force Luck to have to throw 50 times a game, vary their offense more with a run game, and keep teams off Luck that way. They're basically giving Luck the Manning treatment, and he only won a Superbowl because his defense absolutely stood on their heads in that 2006 playoff run.
  11. So, Indy has been in the bottom half of the league in points allowed pretty much every year Luck has been their QB. They've spent 4 of their last 5 first round picks and 4 of 5 second round picks on offense. So the obvious choice, with some very good defensive players on their board, is a center.
  12. Watch the presser - they said there were offers pre-draft to move, but during the draft nobody called. So obviously we didn't like the offers we were getting beforehand, and nothing better materialized.
  13. Jack's knee must be very bad. Jadeveon Clowney has yet to look like the same player post his microfracture procedure, and it sounds like Jack is all but guaranteed to need the same thing in a few years, so I definitely understand why teams are passing now.
  14. I have to laugh at some of these comments - seriously, they had to have rated Stanley very highly to stay where they were and pick him. Guaranteed there were offers on the table for either of the top 2 tackles in the draft. I happen to think picking him means he was a top 3 prospect on our board - if everyone left was in the 5-7 range, we would have traded back and picked up an extra third round pick.
  15. It could also be the numerous injuries - maybe they just didn't want to take a chance post the Eugene Monroe Experiment
  16. Too many good players left to trade back now.
  17. With Wallace on board, it gives us 4 starting options - obviously if everyone's healthy it will be SSS and Perriman, but Aiken and Wallace can both be starters in a pinch. So we can afford this year to take a flier on more of an upside player in a later round. I'm looking at Sharpe, Listenbee, Higgins, Mitchell, Chris Brown as guys who could come in and contribute.
  18. If we had to pick so high, I agree I'd rather have had a top 3 pick in this draft than pick 6. However, we have the pick we do now, there's no use looking back. Regardless, we haven't had a pick this high in over a decade, haven't had a top 10 pick since 2008, so we're going to be picking from a pool of talent we haven't had the opportunity at in quite some time. Rather than be upset we were aren't guaranteed Laremy Tunsil or Jalen Ramsey or traded a pick for a boatload of picks, I'm happy we're still likely to end up with a franchise cornerstone with our top pick, and quite possibly even our second round pick since that player will likely be a top 30 talent on our board. Coupled with a healthy team and our offseason moves, that should put us right back in Superbowl contention, and that's where I want to be. Truthfully, Ramsey, Bosa, Tunsil, Elliot, Buckner, Jack, any of those guys would help our chances at a Superbowl in the next decade. So what difference does it make who we end up with? So what if we only get one of those guys instead of being able to trade back and land two great players. One great player is still much better than zero. And I'm glad we didn't give up at the end of the season - it showed me that a guy like Kamar Aiken is worth keeping around for a long time if we can get a deal done. It showed me that we have some promise at the tight end spot for the future. I think it allowed the front office to see where there were more vulnerabilities than they were willing to admit, and they took steps to address some of those already, and I think this draft will continue to address some of those. And in the end, winning those games showed we have guys who will play 60 minutes, all the time, every time, and that's how you win Superbowls - see Denver game 2012-2013 playoffs.
  19. I'd hope to see him come back and play well.
  20. The answer to this topic is in the title - history. If you start lumping Travis Taylor, Mark Clayton, Patrick Johnson in with the likes of recent draft picks, we might as well talk about Matt Elam and say this front office is terrible at drafting safeties in spite of drafting one of the greatest of all time in Ed Reed. Focusing on recent history i.e. the Harbaugh era, so far we're 1 for 1, Torrey, when we draft a receiver in the first 3 rounds, with Breshad Perriman's development still up in the air. And I think Michael Campanaro could carve out a nice niche in this league if he would just stay healthy. There are multiple reasons why our previous receivers didn't work out, the most important being that maybe the best QB season we had until 2008 was Vinny Testaverde's in 96, and things might have been different if Michael Jackson had stayed healthy and didn't retire at 29. You could basically go back to any team, look at a ten year stretch in their history, find a position they failed to address, and say they were terrible at drafting that position just because. I'm happy with what we had in Torrey for a late second round pick, and I think Breshad has the chance to be better than Torrey - if that's the case, I'd say he works out in the end as well.
  21. Obviously the trade value chart isn't the be-all-end all, but suppose the Eagles want to jump in front of the 9ers and snag a QB, it would cost them a third round pick this year to trade with us - we move back 2 spots, and if both teams take a QB, we get the same player we would have taken at 6 overall plus an extra top 10 pick in the third round, where we'd likely take someone we had a second round grade on. Just one possible scenario, although depending on who we may lose out on I'd rather just take the player at 6 then run the risk of losing him entirely.
  22. It's clear the Steelers have a blueprint for the receivers they want for the most part - smaller, speedier guys, the exception being Bryant although he can move when he needs to. To me, Joe seems to like wideouts that understand how to run routes well like Mason, Boldin, SSS, Camp. I'd look at Sheppard or Boyd early, later (although they might not be there) I'd look at Michael Thomas, Rashard Higgins, Carroo, Robinson. Very late, possibly as a UDFA, I'd look at Nelson Spruce out of Colorado.
  23. If all of the injured players come back healthy and play up to expectations, I feel we'll be a playoff team again. If not, we could end up the same as we were this year. I don't think this draft will really change our fortunes THIS year - as much as DeCosta mentions instant coffee, I think this draft is much more about the future of the team, particularly on defense, than about the 2016 season.
  24. Ultimately I'd say it's overall an indictment of the draft that, 4 seasons later, not a single drafted player is still with the team. However, the first 2 picks found second contracts with other teams, so it wasn't like every player we took that draft developed poorly. Still, in hindsight not one of our better drafting years. Hopefully this year turns out differently.
  25. If the FO feels that the injured guys will be ready to go week 1, and especially if we do end up signing Wallace or another vet, I would wait until the 3rd round or beyond and draft one. Wide receivers tend to fall in the draft so IMO it's very likely we could draft a guy in the 3rd or 4th round that we valued a round higher. My only criteria would be to look for a guy who could get snaps early and contribute rather than find a guy who rides the bench or the PS the entire season.
