  1. This past fall, there was a small article in SI wherein a sports marketing firm is planning to launch a professional cricket league here in America.

The version of cricket to be played is called Twenty20, or T20 - a variant wherein a match can be completed in three hours.

There are no teams announced as of yet, nor locations for the clubs, but the firm is hoping to make good - and I'm looking forward to this.

I welcome your comments in regard to this possible new league.

Joe Gibbs is the only coach to win 3 Super Bowls with 3 different quarterbacks, Thiesmann, Williams and Rypen.  In the book Next Man Up, he was the original choice to replace Ted Marchibroda on the Ravens, but he was not interested and they got Brian Billick instead.

Interesting, Nightman - never knew he was considered to coach the Ravens.

As for a HC in the Hall, I would have to go with either Gibbs, Coryell or - brace yourselves, here;s a blast from the past - Oail Andrew Phillips, alias Bum Phillips.

Those are my choices, let me know what you think of them.

Everybody probably knows already - Kiffin took a HC job at Florida Atlantic.

I'm thinking about applying for the open spot. It's true I'm clueless but they don't really need anyone better with that defense.

Those guys at Florida Atlantic had better be ready, for he'll foul them up, big time.

I just wonder if he's ready for Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, where FAU plays their home rounds.

Yeah. They should just go to an 8 team playoff. Power 5 champions get auto bid, the 3 at-larges--committe ranks them 1-8  Then conf. champions are guaranteed in and they can still put in the overrated/overhyped moneymaker teams and who' beat can be decided on the field.

    OR.

Power 5 champions auto bid + top Group of 5 auto bid + 2 at-larges.

This would be my preferred system because then EVERYONE has chance at beginning of season--The argument against would be that most likely this team is not "one of best 8 teams". My counterargument would ne that if that was the case, you reward the #1 team because the Group of 5 team would most likely be ranked #8 by committee.  Plus it gives "little guys" a shot at the big guys and a slice of the big money the playoff makes teams!

I couldn't agree more, VermontRaven - I now think an eight team playoff may work; even a twelve team playoff may just work.

In the case of an eight-team edition, we could incorporate the four major bowls; in regard to a twelve-team, we could give the top four sides a bye, and then let nos. five-twelve duke it out - with the winners advancing to the next round.
