Yep, this loss comes from all 3 phases of our game. Joe is NOT elite so that discussion is over and our 2ndary is atrocious! What happened to the cohesive O line? That was supposed to be our strongest unit (It appears that is IS but, that's not saying much!).
We've been spoiled over the last few seasons. I say it's probably a time where we will get kicked around a bit. My suspicion is, our coaching staff has been decimated almost every year and it is showing. We were in the wrong defense a lot of times and it still looks like there's guys who still don't know the playbook.
It's going to be a rough year but one we'll all sit through of course.
)
I'm not sure we're ready for Cincy but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our guys respond to the home field and have the mentality of "Not in our house!"
Gotta stop the bleeding and doing it against Cincy would be a huge boost in the arm!
Let's Go Ravens!
I think his attitude is needed more than his pass rushing skills, although if he still has something left in the tank, I'll take it too.
We're going to need a couple "Rah-Rah" guys and we know we have one on Offense in SSS. Now, we'll have another energetic fireball on our team.
Way to go. Hope it helps!
Well, that says a lot!
I would love being a CB or safety playing the Ravens because I would have as much chance at catching balls as their intended receivers. If the ball is over 10yds, it seems to need to be a lob pass? I just feel that even I can throw a ball in the air and hope for the best but if that were the case, I don't think I should be making $120 mil! I think it's time to put a fire under Joe's butt and get Renner in there. Would we still be 0-2? Maybe but at least there would be a chance at some potential. If Joe was half as accurate as he's supposed to be, there were a couple of TD's left in the air. Add 14points and we win. Add the 7 we didn't get in the last seconds of the game with like 6 shots at the end zone and we win. I'm just calling out the emperors new clothes!
Not going to be popular but Joe actually sucked again this week.
I'm not happy with our Elite QB right now. Seems like he's going backwards.
Can't blame WR's not getting separation or the line not protecting him because they were and he just couldn't throw it to save his life. If it was over 10yds, he had no touch at all. The worse part is, he's a 8yr vet so there's no fixing this in my opinion. Would anyone rather have had Carr as our QB for that game and do you think it would have turned out different? Heck, I think Renner would have similar stats if he had been the starter. Not happy at all!
"We are facing the worst team in the league this year, I don't understand everyone's fear. Do you think we are the worst team in the league as well?"
Our Offense was!
It won't be this week though.
LOL, great stuff!
Despite what many may think, Oakland probably isn't going to just give us the game so look sharp because we're going to have to earn it.
Ya, something is up with Perryman. No real injury report to speak of. Maybe they're just keeping Brashaad under wraps till mid season then bring him out so no one has any tape on him. It's either that or he's a 1st year bust (Kindle). Not an uncommon thing but it sure would be nice to know if we'll ever see our investment actually on the field some time this season.
Happy Birthday Marshal Yanda!
Joe takes too many, "Leaps of faith" for an Elite QB!
I'd like to see Joe actually hit a WR in stride and stop throwing the ball to a guy that's double covered. He still throws the ball where he intended at the snap, regardless of if his guy is covered. If he IS covered, you have to pinpoint pass it to your guy, not lob it up and hope for the best.
All I can say is, I HATE that lob pass Joe does. That kind of pass allows everyone on the field a chance at it. For an Elite QB, I would think he could throw it TO a receiver rather than a mini hail Mary. It would also help if we had any WR's that could separate, of course, We've never had one of those.
It was a good effort and Denver is a good team but we had too many chances to get that win at the end and couldn't get it in. that's the most disappointing part to me. (Outside of losing Suggs for the year)
We owe Denver some paybacks and since the Squeelers stunk up the joint last night, it sure would be nice to come out of Denver with a win. One Road game off our bucket list!
I'm sure we have something up our sleeves and our Coaching staff will have our guys ready for Peyton.
GO Ravens!
I was hoping Vaughn would make the cut.
Whether he plays week one or not, he probably isn't going to be a huge contributor right out of the gate anyway. The kid has a lot on his shoulders and if we bring him in the wrong way, we could ruin the kid before he ever gets started. We'll need him producing after the half way point in the season and even then, that may be asking a lot. He'll be a staple here soon enough. The boy has skills. We'll enjoy seeing them in full display before long.
This last pre season game should be ugly as well. Keeping all the 1st and 2nds out will mean they'll be pulling folks from the stands to fill the line :-)
That's a great idea @ellicottraven.
2 more on the roster and an extra IR and PUP would be a big help and looks like it's warranted too. We're not the only ones with guys going down.
That's why our depth is so important. We have to have quality backups because they usually end up playing more than we thought they would. I think we have pretty good depth and by mid season, we should have some real talent to swap in and out as needed.
Hoping Perriman can get out there and start practicing. If nothing else, he should have the playbook down by the time he gets on the field. No need to rush him. He has high expectations on him and I imagine he doesn't want to get out there under 100% and hear everyone get down on him if he isn't blowing the doors off CB's in his first couple games. It has to be scary, coming fresh out of college and playing with the big boys and being expected to be a star right away. Keep your head up and play like a Raven!
No billboard material here! :-)
This is just my opinion and I'm sure everyone will let me know if they think I'm right and whether I'm a "true fan" or not but for all the media heads that seem to think the fans are upset over the "loss" to the Eagles, I for one could care less about the score because after all, it is pre season and like you, I'm watching individual players and positions more than the score (Of course, if all the players I'm watching are playing lights out, the score would have been different but I digress). My concern is for the lack of cohesiveness on offense and defense, even on a pre season scale. Watching our "Elite" QB sail the ball over the tallest WR we've ever had, especially since the "Elite" thing has been jammed down our throats, or snippets of our players saying how "Apple Juice" the Eagles practices were (That worked out well for us didn't it?) or Mclellan's sucker punch to an Eagles lineman after the whistle and more recently, the sad excuses coming from everyone about bad radios and no game plan. It may be true but that's not how this team has rolled in the past. The Ravens org has had some serious "bad press" in the last couple years. I think it is time to make sure the motto "Play like a Raven" means what you intended it to and not what it's beginning to look like. Every time you're on TV, you're representing "US" and we expect the nose to the grind stone, no one gets into trouble and we play smash mouth football. Many of us fans will stand up for our team and brave other teams stadiums among other things in that support. Heck, I live in PA so it's double tough on us out here. If I'm investing a large amount of my income on my team, I should have a say in how it's run and Saturdays game did not give me the warm and fuzzies, especially considering all the hype from BR.com up to this point. If you talk us into drinking purple Kool-Aid in July, you have to pony up in August too! Because of that, you now have to do damage control. It just makes me feel like you believe we're all lemmings sometimes. Not cool when a Jersey costs over $100 and PSL's are more than many families make in a month.
And, know this, I didn't start looking at the NFL as a business until you all kept telling me it was. I used to just enjoy watching football on Sundays (and have been doing it for several decades). Now you MAKE us invest a lot more to keep that enjoyment going so ya, I expect a little more every time you step on that stage. You certainly get paid enough collectively for that to be our expectation.
For sports fans, we take this all on the chin too. We may not be on the field with you but in reality, we are!
I'm just saying.
All anyone on this team needs to do to be "THE" starter this season is, STAY HEALTHY. It's a job of attrition! We're pretty thin already and it looks to go into the season that way. Heck, I bet if I hung around practices enough, they'd give me a shot! I'd work for peanuts, literally, I LOVE peanuts! (and maybe some of that purple kool-aid they serve there to wash it down with):-)
second pre season game and we're decimated already? We need to start drafting guys who haven't had surgery already or childhood diseases affecting the knees and such. Time to pony up for a quality guy with no questions attached to him. I like a bargain and all but have we taken it too far?
As far as Suggs goes and what he did or didn't do, the tape tells the story. Talking about it only adds credence to a stupid statement to begin with! HE can't hit the QB high or the top of his helmet may hit his chin and get a flag and not only that, it sure looked like Suggs grabbed him around the legs, wrapped up and "Tackled" him, not "Hit" him. BIG difference!
https://i.imgflip.com/pxsi3.gif Wow! I completely missed this during the game. I guess emotions can over boil when you're getting so completely whipped, but c'mon...this can't happen! We were lucky it went unnoticed. Unfortunately for McClellan this will probably mean he'll be out of couple of bucks. But next time it might be worse. Jeesh!
Ya, that's a BIG problem! I saw that during the game but didn't notice that it was a flat out uppercut to the solar plexus! We can't have that kind of stuff going on EVER! I see a theme starting already with supposed Suggs's "cheap shot" and now this .gif.
Do we want the "Thug" lable?? That's not how we roll! If Harbs is aware of this, I imagine Mclellan won't see the field Saturday.
IDK, this all sounds like excuses. No game plan? Who DOES gameplan in pre season? Did Philly game plan? Sad excuse. Did we not game plan last week with the Saints?
It looked like the players were lost and confused. Suggs mentioned that the starters only played the 1st half and alluded to, it might have been different in a whole game but the starters got nothing done either so I'm not buying it. I'm not impressed and as business owners, they have a lot of work to do over the next couple weeks. I doubt playing Washington won;t do much to elevate our game either.
I'm more mad at the Ravens Media for serving us kool-aid over the last few months so if we're ticked at the poor play we saw Saturday, all I can say is, make your words soft and sweet because, you may have to eat them.
Let's go guys! We want to see our team play like Ravens!

Just wondering who this CB named "Soul" is and I sure hope he's better than who we have now!
