  1. This 8-0 talk that is being circulated rather flippantly makes me nervous. For starters let's not forget there is a reason we are 2-6 in the first place. To sit here and keep throwing out the mathematically feasible 8-0 run seems very irresponsible to me.

Not just to the hopes and aspirations of every day fans, but to the players and coaches as well. Does this mean I don't wish that we go 8-0? Of course I do like every Ravens fan does. But is it realistic and reasonable to bestow such expectations on the team? That is where I think it is wrong.

Let's not forget the teams that beat us and not great teams either - Browns at home, Raiders away and SF too! So, it isn't like we have beaten all the sub 0.500 teams either. So, why such flippancy? Let the chips fall where they may and let us all take a deep breath and chant the mantra - "Win the next game that is coming up"!

I agree! "Under Promise and Over Deliver", is the best policy!

  2. Why this is taking so long only he and his doctors know I guess but it sure would be nice to have kicked the tires on him for a few games so we knew what we could expect from the guy. It would be good to have him out there a few games this season to get his feet wet so I hope he gets out there soon. He will take a year or two to develop so the quicker we get him on the field, the sooner we'll have our #1 WR ready to lock up for 6 years!

  3. I admit I might have overreacted and exaggerated a bit - and please bear in mind this is my opinion of the situation with the limited facts that we as fans have and I'm not claiming it's the undeniable truth - but I still feel that Harbaugh is protecting his coordinators and saving them from some fair criticism.

The biggest basis for this opinion of mine came when one of the CBs we signed during this season (I think it was Shareece Wright) got burned deep in his first game with us against SF. Harbaugh flat out yelled on him on live TV in front of the whole nation. He was covering Torrey Smith and wasn't given any safety help over the top.

Now, yes he screwed up for giving up the big play. But any DC who leaves a newly acquired average CB 1-on-1 against Torrey Smith, whose speed this coaching staff should well know, without any safety help can't realistically hope he can cover such a speedster in single man coverage. I might understand the gambit, but the fault wasn't solely on Shareece.

And what does Harbaugh do?? Yell on him on the sidelines for because he wasn't physically able to keep up on Smith in coverage that he did not choose. Yeah, sounds like great, parently thing to do.

After the game, and I've looked through all the transcripts, not once has Harbaugh criticized defensive play calls. Yet he has over and over indicated that players are executing poorly and flat out yelled on one which is captured on TV.

I agree that all coaches aren't to blame but to claim that coaches aren't at fault here at least as much as the players are is just plain ignorant and stupid, I'm sorry!

And yeah! I guess I'm not a real fan of the Ravens because I refuse to hide my head in the sand and pretend everything will get magically better and we'll rebound without any effort. Sorry for that! From now on I'll post that Harbaugh has been to the playoffs all but one of his seasons, therefore in the name of our good sweet lord baby Jesus, there can't possibly be anything he could be doing better. Sorry, buy You lost all your credibility with that sheep of a statement.

I never claimed the coaches weren't at fault, I said I believed it had more to do with a rotating coaching staff every year and PS players starting games as well as picking up cast offs from other teams and plugging them in after a week, than the coaches not having a clue as you put it.

You said Harbaugh yelled at a defensive player on TV. It's not like he took him in front of the camera and interviewed him, the camera just happened to be on him and how would he know that anyway? (He should have handled it better but he's under a lot of pressure too you know) You said he never blames the Defensive plays called. In that instance, it wasn't the play, it was the player and knowing for sure if it was a play or a missed/wrong assignment is hard to know from the couch.

My biggest issue is you name calling when you're not agreed with and when did I ever claim to have any "credibility"?

Relax dude, I'm not your enemy just pointing out that your RaRaRavens avatar seems a bit of misnomer. Mine fits perfectly :-)

  4. Blame can't be placed in just one area on this team. Players, coaches and trainers are all a part of this and I think each one plays a part in our record. Firing Pees or Trestman won't fix our problems. It may make it different but it will not fix them.

Joe isn't Tom Brady but he can get us there with a good supporting cast. Remember, we have guys playing on our team now that were scheduled for a year more training on the PS and not starting games. We've also picked up a half dozen cast offs from other teams, just to have 11 on the field so ya, it's not going to be pretty BUT, I can see where we actually have a shot at finishing this year much better than what we think right now and to get our rag tag mishmash of players to play well enough to do that says something about our coaching.

Don't give up, we'll be back on top in no time and remember, we can't win them all!

  5. UN-FRIKING-BELIVABLE!

Even when coaches know for a fact that the bad play of a team is on their players, they NEVER EVER should dis them on the media. It's just not what leaders do. The only thing it does is hurt the players confidence, create distrust between players and coaches, and cause bad blood inside the team.

In this particular case it's even worse, because it's you, damn Pees, who is making the calls and lining up CB-s 15 yards away from the WRs!!! How in the hell can you make such statements, that your players should play better! You should be making plays better you fool!

And just the fact that Harbaugh allows his coaches to blame players publicly like that shows that he rather backs his homies he has made coaches, rather than stand united with the team and be a metaphorical captain of his ship in the middle of this sh storm.

Harbaugh has never been a leader on this team, he has enjoyed the luxury of having players fill that role for him. Now with those leaders gone it is starting to show - players playing undisciplined, not knowing what to do or who to turn to for advice and encouragement, DC pointing fingers at his players, and the only solution he has is making statements like "we need to play better". Harbaugh, and his coordinators, are clueless, just trying not to sink.

With his bias towards his coordinator-buddies being well documented, don't expect any changes from him soon, either. Hopefully, just maybe, MAYBE, Harbaugh will come out the other end of this adversity a better, wiser coach and leader but he is not one at the moment.

Sorry RaRa but, there is no way you could know all of this unless you're a player in the locker room. Everything I have ever seen from Harbaugh is a Parent like mentality towards his players and if you mess with any of them, you have to deal with him. I'll admit he did throw Babin under the bus but he was gone as soon as he dressed again after that game so he was no longer a Raven at that point.

We're all asking for honesty from our team and leave the excuses at home. This is part of that I think.

I think the biggest reason for our poor play is the lack of a steady coaching team. That makes more sense than these guys "having no clue". That's taking it a step too far IMHO.

We're all kinda pissed at our record but with a post like this, you might want to change your avatar.

  6. Awesome game by our guys! I know we lost but there were great strides on WR's catching the ball, O line opening holes (Although we stopped running for some reason)and the only "bad pass" Joe threw all night, was the last one! All his other throws were laser's while leading his receiver. THAT's the Joe I remember! He reverted a bit at the end there but I see reason for hope. Not for a SB run of course but hope that we at least have a good core of willing and capable players on our roster, we only need a couple more "Elite" players to get us back in the game. If Perriman ever pans out, there's one thing crossed off the list and if Joe keeps playing like he did last night, there's another thing crossed off the list. Now, how to talk SSS into staying another year!

  7. I think Dennis should rehab with the team and their doctors, maybe come out as a decoy once or twice then hang up the cleats. It would be great to see him out there catching passes but he has a family to think of and there are those that would hit him at the hip just to get him out of a game so he should think very carefully before putting his health at risk any further.

    Love ya Dennis!

  8. Awesome to see Yanda be able to retire a Raven when he hangs up his cleats! Probably the last guy on this team that encompasses what it really means to be a Raven of old. His name belongs with the all time Ravens players and I'm sure he'll not only be in the ring of honor but in Canton as well! Congrats big man!

I had high hopes for Melvin and was a bit shocked when I heard we cut him.

I was impressed with the way he came in late last year, completely cold and hung with his man all game. He missed a few but he was within a couple yards at most and made some nice plays and you could see his enthusiasm. I wonder what got him cut and I sure hope Billicheck doesn't make him a star! I hate that team enough as it is!

  9. At this point, I'm actually excited about our team. We certainly suck but I'm sure we'll get this ship sailing again (most likely next year or two) and we'll be better off for it.

I think this year (and last) can be attributed to the "Bargain mentality". We used to be really good at letting players go when it was time and OTHER TEAMS would suffer the thoughts that they will propel their team to the top (See Ed Reed). We've been picking up cast offs and bargain hunting for a couple years now and it's got us in a bind. It's always nice to get a bargain but we probably shouldn't have done it across the board with all our players and coaches.

Lesson learned now, let's dig out of it and get back to where we belong!

    GO RAVENS!

Did the "Money ball" idea backfire on them?

    1

  10. Steve has a passion I think ALL players need to have to play here.

That's what "play like a Raven" means to me.

Ever since the CBA, it appears the players are doing far less for their money.

Everyone wants to leave the game Wealthy and Healthy so maybe they're starting to just impress in college, get that contract in the NFL, go through the motions here and there and avoid any serious injury then collect their checks and go home.

It would be nice if it worked that way but Football is a tough game, played by the biggest guys in sports and there are going to be injuries. That's why the paychecks are so big to play. So,

Either play up to your paycheck or maybe the paychecks should be lowered to match the play. It's just business!

  11. Wow, a real stinker last night.

Joe looked pitiful and when he didn't, his receivers did.

I wouldn't have been shocked to see Shaub out there in the 2nd half.

This is going to be a hard season to sit through. They can't give up but knowing you're playing without a chance at the ultimate goal, has to be hard as well.

We're playing to save some pride at this point. Gonna be an interesting off season, that's for sure!

  12. I'm really surprised they didn't bring up Magee first.

This guy has some good averages though at around 4yds per carry and around 14yds per catch. With so many new guys and the fact that everyone says it takes time for players to get used to each other, I don't see how these guys are going to propel us into the playoffs this year but maybe they can stop be bleeding some.

AND, To vent here a little to the few who expect me to be ashamed that I'm mad at our team,

As far as giving up on the Ravens, I doubt anyone who spends time here is turning off their TV's and playing backgammon on Sundays. We love our team, win or lose however, when they stink, they stink and we have the right to say as much, more than most who only put their flags up once we're in the playoffs. If you think we'll sneak into the SB, you're purple kool-aid logged and should switch to bottled water for a while.

    Having said that,

I'll watch every game till the last whistle, as I always have. I'm still mowing my 50' "GO RAVENS" into my lawn each week that will still be there next Spring and my 12' hand painted Ravens Logo on my basement wall is surrounded by thousands of dollars in memorabilia we've been collecting since the Colts were here. I'm not going anywhere but I also have no idea who's jersey to buy this season either! There's not much to hang your hat on this season so in that regard, ya, I'm not beating my chest out here in Pennsylvania. I just stay low and out of sight because if you think our players and coaches are getting ripped for poor play, you should hear my UPS guy, grocery store clerks and anyone else I run into out here, it's brutal! Steeler fans are pretty cocky to say the least!

We're just a bit ticked off that we SHOULD be better than this. For the FO, I suggest next season,

"Under promise and over deliver" rather than the way you did it this season.

It makes winning AND losing easier to take.

    I'm done whining now!

  13. I don't think we'll have much of a choice on where we draft next season as I don't think we're going to hurt what is looking to be a high draft position much this year. If I had to guess, it's looking like we'll draft in the top 6 as it stands now.

I've been saying for over a month, keep our draft picks and let these underachievers we keep picking up, end up on another team. We have enough of them already! I'd trade 6 of the guys we just picked up, for one good one!

    5

  14. Just like you shouldn't get too excited when we win a game, you should come off the ledge now. It's just football, not our military.

Yes, our season is over because I just don't see how we can replace as many players as we need to and get rolling in time to make a splash. Since we've already lost our allotted games for the year, we'd have to run the table and that's not happening.

They shouldn't give up by any means however, you'd be kidding yourself to think we'll be playing in any meaningful games this year.

As far as keeping the good players we've lost, most of them have done nothing since they've left and certainly wouldn't be worth their huge paychecks right now. I do believe our FO gets those decisions right most of the time. It's the pickups after that, that leaves little to be desired.

Start working that draft board now guys! We're going to need everyone on point for the 2016 draft! IF you do your homework and say "we NEED to get this guy", his name is attached to you for the rest of the year, he's your guy and you live and die with him! If we have to get rid of him, you'll be right on his behind.

    2

  15. What did we give away for a "Replacement player" this time?

This guy can't be any good if he's available in October.

Before we start picking up more cast offs, they should really try a fan day tryout.

Most of us even have our own jerseys.

As far as all these injuries, when you play balls out, you tend not to get hurt as often! It's when you play to NOT get hurt, things happen.

Put me in coach! They'll kill me in just a couple plays but MAN, I'd do it and have a huge smile on my unconscious face as they carted me off the field and after my nap, I'd be back out there to do it again!!

We're only playing for pride now and I have enough to carry the team for a while and maybe it will spread around the locker room!

We need something to shake this team up!
