  1. Joe is always going to be Joe. Not Elite but not too bad. I do get frustrated sometimes with his low throws and indecision when the pocket starts to collapse because there's times when he just throws it away (Like I think he should) and others when he stands there and takes a sack however, we do have a lot of talent on this team this year and I believe that we'll do a heck of a lot better than 5-11. We'll see once we play a couple good teams and how we respond to better players. Our D line just smothered the RB on many occasions Sunday and that gives me hope for the season. When we get that kind of penetration, it puts luck on your side a lot more.
We have a softer schedule in the 1st half so that bodes well for our guys to grow so we should have a good idea by the Bye week on whether we should be able to hang with the big dogs. It's the 2nd half that our guys are going to have to dig a bit more and I think they will.
    GO RAVENS!

OK , I hear ya but here's my rebuttal....

(757)- 1. Jimmy was primarily responsible for covering Sammy, who he held to 4 catches for 45 yds. The Bills had only 160 total offensive yards. What are you complaining about?
    1) (KidNme)- Sammy was held to 4 catches because Tyrod didn't have time most of the time, hence my statement on our D line looking good but did you see Jimmy get juked time and time again?

    2. (757) Rex is known for blitzing the A-Gap. I'd be willing to bet at least 3 of the 4 sacks on Flacco came from pressure right up the middle.
    2) (KidNme) Nope. 3-4 came from the edge.

    3. (757) The running game was very effective. The problem was we didn't run enough.
(KidNme) That could be true. 34 passes to 22 runs but I kind of expected that due to all the weapons we have at Receiver and TE. Although Perryman disappeared after his 2 targets.

    4. (757) If you're going to use "what if's" to support your argument, you can't overlook that Shareece Wright missed a pick 6 opportunity as well.
    4) (KidNme) yep, forgot about that one. Shareece was a monster out there no doubt. One of the many highlights of the game but he did "miss" the opportunity.

(MOM GENE)- Come on man... The Bills had one good play... Tyrod escapes a tackle, and gets the ball to Clay. That was the highlight of their game. Shareece Wright has 11 tackles... Our Defense played Lights OUT!
(KidNme) I mentioned that so I'm not sure what the "Come on man" is all about.

(Mom Gene) As for Joe??? Man, the guy has played how many series this preseason???? After an ACL and MCL tear??? It's gonna take time. He's not 100% yet. There's no possible way that he is.
(KidNme) Seriously? Not 100%,he looked 100% to me. A 9 year vet! Gonna take time? Are we using real games to get our guys up to par now? and for how many series he's played, that could be the reason he didn't look sharp but again, that's why they practice (or not).
(MOM GENE)Those three receptions, Wallace, Pitta, and Perriman were SWEET!. Just a peek into what our potential is.
(KidNme) I mentioned that however, you have to realize that potential.

(MOM GENE) They have also changed the cadence this year. Joe is getting the ball snapped quicker than previously. Imagine playing 9 years using the same cadence/snap count, and then changing it, hence why Yanda had the couple of false starts..It's game 1 man.... stop picking. We got the "W".
(KidNme) Seriously again? Changed the cadence and Joe doesn't know what it is? Come on man. We have a few good teams coming up and we'll lose more of those games than we'll win if we don't get on ball. Do you think the position coaches aren't "picking"?

Look, I saw some really good things from us and like I said before I DO BELIEVE that we'll get better as the season goes on. I'm just picking out some of the things that weren't mentioned in the article. There was some good but there were some problems that I don't think we should have had, 1st game or not. When the games count, you have to be ready and it barely looked like we were. With as bad as Buffalo played, it shouldn't have been a nail biter.

Jimmy was fried all day, what game were you watching? The only reason the total receiving yards were not really high was that the pressure kept Taylor from getting the ball out or Jimmy Smith would have been responsible for a total team loss.

What post are you responding to? That's just what I said....

  4. My wife is pissed at me because I wasn't too happy after this game so I'm guessing some of you will have the same attitude but I'm the kid in the fable that mentioned the emperors new clothes.
I LOVE my team and Ya, we got the win but if we continue to play like that, we won't win against better teams. I mean, how many figured we would have to run out the clock to get this win against Buffalo?
    1) Our D Line was very good and covered Jimmy Smith's butt so, good thing Buffalo only has one star receiver and our D line kept pressure on Tyrod all day. Buffalo just looked bad and unprepared.
    2) Joe looked like a statue many times and even after 9 years, he still hasn't learned how to step up in the pocket. He threw a lot of low balls too. He wasn't pressured as much as some of you think. He had plenty of time most of the time but just stood there too long. I hold him especially accountable because he's one of the highest paid QB's in the game.
    3) The running game never got off the ground either. I'm guessing some of these guys needed a couple more pre season games?
    4) Buffalo shot themselves as much as we gave them fits. They gave us 30 yards on one drive with penalties and then gave us the ball on their 13 with 4 fresh downs from yet another stupid penalty from Buffalo that took 3 pts off the board. We were lucky we got them back, not to mention the INT right to the Buff defenders chest that was dropped. That play alone could left us in the loss column this week.
    5) I only saw one penalty on us from a rookie, the rest were from vets. (This has been a theme for the past few years too BTW!) CIN and PITT won't make those mistakes.
On the bright side, We do have some talent and I do believe we can become the team that goes deep into the playoffs but we have no time for a learning curve. Let's hope our guys pay attention to the game film and make adjustments. We certainly narrowly skirted a disastrous loss and we have a lot of work to do this week.

  5. Perriman will be fine. The boy is fast and although it was pre season, he left the corner in his dust a few times, so much so that they put another corner on him later in the game. He'll have an impact, even if he isn't thrown to very often. Joe will hit him if he's open and I have no concerns about him catching or dropping any more balls than any other receiver would. SSS has dropped a couple but we don't keep count on him so give the boy a break a little bit. He's new but he's fast and that's a big plus from what we've had in the past, if nothing else.

  6. So, many of the veteran guys we're counting on, besides Flacco, won't be playing until it's against the 3rd stringers next week. Don't know how much that helps.
Would like to see Perriman out there for a few snaps at least and it wouldn't be horrible to see SSS, Suggs and Dumervil out there for a series or two.
It ain't like it used to be.

  7. I for one, love Correa's attitude. He's gotta be smart but him crushing a WR is a good thing, that's what he's supposed to do and there's no doubt in my mind that we drafted him for that nasty streak. It will bode well for him during the season. Dennis shouldn't expect kid gloves, he's made the decision to play football but if Correa is hitting after the whistle, he needs to chill out on that and try not to hurt anyone in a Ravens jersey :-)
All in all though, I like this kids moxy!

Pennies ma butt! I wonder how he'll feed his family for the next 50 years off of 16.8 MILLION DOLLARS to play a game, especially when he eats out all the time. When you only actually play about 5 minutes in any game, I think that's asking a lot to be a multi millionaire. Maybe if we got these salaries close to "real world" salaries, we wouldn't have to pay Thousands of dollars to go to the games.

KidNme- How do you know if he eats out all the time? These guys deserve every penny as elite athletes/ entertainers. If they don't get paid, do you think the team should keep all the money they make from broadcasting these games? You're being irrational

I'm not saying they shouldn't get paid and never said that as a mater of fact. What I'm saying is they get paid way too much to play a game. Not irrational but realistic. What about the lower tier guys on the team? What makes their job any less dangerous but they don't make millions so as far as "deserving", that's the wrong word to use.
Think of the folks you have to depend on for you life and how much they get paid. What about Police officers, Fireman, Teachers etc. They are "Deserving". When you think of what they do for the world and what a football player does, the salaries are just plain out of hand. What about all the regular folks that put their lives on the line for their job. Oil rig workers, Deadliest catch guys, electrical lineman, the list goes on and on. Also, when a football player gets hurt, they have only the best doctors taking care of them, how's that HMO working out for the "regular people I mentioned, when they get hurt? I work 360 days a year too and football guys get several months off. Ya, they have to work out in the off season but so do I and I PAY to do it!

  10. Sizzle will come back and end his career the way he wants, this year, I have no doubt. That's a big thing to know you're going to put all the years you've put into something, into this last year to go out with a bang but also know that coming off an injury and being older puts that doubt in your mind that it could all go south in a hurry as well. Gotta be tough but Suggs is too so I feel pretty good he's setting his legacy this season and he's focused. We'll get his best work, I'm sure.

  11. The Ravens have obviously spent their money as wisely as I think they could this year. We've got a few studs on D and a few on O and a bunch of young guys who show great potential. If not this year, we're definitely on the road to building a young, talented, dynasty style team. We have also done the best we could to address the depth of high injury positions this year so I'm happy with the progress so far. We'll see what happens when the pads go on.

Is it only me, or is it really happening? I mean, are the Ravens on track for a transformation the steelers have been through a couple of seasons ago - to turn a D-driven team into an O-driven team? With the arrival of Todd Haley and getting their hands on a couple of offensive gems - the likes of Antonio Brown and Bell - the steelers, who used to be synonymous with defense, now have one of the best O's in the world, and a mediocre D. I hope the latter will never be true about us - but I can't help noticing how this off-season Ozzie have been stacking up talent on the O side of the ball, giving Flacco an amount of quality targets he may never have had before. On the other side, the only notable addition to the D is Eric Weddle - who's as quality an addition as one gets - still, all in all, the O has been through a much more significant facelift.

So, what do you think? Are the Ravens turning into an O-driven team, too?

I think the D finished the season strong with the young bucks. Now it is time to get the O up to speed.

Joe wants to throw more Passes, the league is gravitating to scoring more points and you can only pick up and pay, just so many stars. You just can't build up both sides of the ball in one year. I think our D is going to be fine anyway. They got stronger as the year progressed and I do believe we've added some young play makers. Powers sounds like he may be a gem for a FA pickup.
We just have to score more points than our opponents. We can either do that by having a great defense and keeping the other team from scoring or, we can score so many points, the other team can't catch up. I believe we'll find a happy medium this year, with the guys we got.

  13. Nothing really changes as far as the team goes. Even if he doesn't have a tear, he can't seem to get past practice without getting hurt. If he ever does get out there and gets popped a few times, how do you think he'd handle that if he can't handle just running routes red shirted? Doesn't look good. Could he be a miracle boy, ya, but odds are against him. Sad but a common story and NO, Boldin is not the answer although, just by mentioning that, I feel like I've been Rick rolled :-)
