  1. 1-6 is not the ideal start to the season but I'm willing to bet those undefeated teams in the league would rather face someone else. We are a good football team; I still believe that. I was impressed by the play of our rookies, Crockett, Buck Allen and Boyle and they all look like something you can build a winning franchise around. We will get this ship righted and, if ever there was a crucible of fire to be forged in, these first seven games are it. No where to look but up. GO RAVENS!

  2. The next three games are divisional matches (two at home, one in stiller land) and, while the coaches/players swear they don't "look ahead", they are critical to the playoff aspirations of this team. Through two games this season I've seen nothing that would call for the ouster of Pees although I believe Harbs was justified in calling out the defense on their performance in that last drive. I've seen nothing that can't be fixed with good coaching and attention to the fundamentals of Ravens Football and there are no magical FA acquisitions that will right this ship. A new season starts this Sunday at the Bank in front of what I know will be a sell out, raucous crowd. We will see what we are  made of.

  3. 9-3 at the half and this one really felt like an "old school" Ravens slugfest. When Ed Reed...uhh...Jimmy Smith snatched that pick 6 I just knew we were going to win this! Both defenses played extremely well; we came up a bit short. I believe Trestman will get the Offense dialed in and, going forward, we'll be a better team after playing this game.

  4. The reporter asked Smitty about the "unproven" Kamar Aiken and he replied with his usual aplomb, "unproven to you." The coaches say he's ready but man I tell you what, if there is one guy in that locker room who knows if a receiver is "proven" and ready for prime time it would be Smith Sr. I wish the young man a ton of success because he's put in the work, kept his nose clean and earned the respect of his coaches and peers. They've said this is the best 53 + 10 and we're gonna roll with what we've got. That's good enough for me. Best of luck Kamar now bring on the Broncos.

  5. I've always believed the Ravens are one of the finest organization in the NFL and every time I read one of Mr. Byrne's articles he confirms that belief. I can't think of anyone who expresses so articulately what "our" team is about. Always upbeat, Mr. Byrne's column is the first thing I want to read after a win... or a loss. Continue your good work Mr. Byrne and " talk with you next week."

  6. You can go here for all the Raven players contract info. Brian McFarland does a fantastic job with his spreadsheets.

And I just read this awhile ago from his blog

    http://russellstreetreport.com/2015/02/06/baltimore-ravens-salary-cap/complete-ravens-salary-cap-update/

The Salary Cap looks, in his words, "bleak."  He's provided a meticulous analysis of our cap situation and it looks there'll be a lot of restructures and cuts just to get under the cap.  It's not clear how much the league will adjust the final cap number (+7mil?) but he didn't factor that in. Unless that number goes up significantly there won't be a whole lot of money left to sign any high profile FA.

  7. I can respect your opinion without agreeing with it but

"F- for Ozzie and the boys."

I'm gonna have to call you on this one. Perhaps not to everyone's liking but the consensus around the internets (and more importantly, at the Castle) is that this is a solid pick for us. Arthur Brown will see time at ILB as well as ST and he will progress.  The addition of CJ under the tutelage of Darryl Smith and Pees will only make this defense better.

Six rounds left... patience, brother, patience.

good night all; work in the morning.

  8. Why are people acting like the Front Office knows everything and never makes mistakes. Remember Mark Clayton and Kyle Boller. I'm not saying Mosely is a bust. But don't act like Ozzie and Co. Know it all and never mess up. I think Ozzie is Alabama happy, and he loves LBs. A. Brown, I hope you like ST.

I'll have to stick up for our FO which I believe is one of the finest in the league. In addition to drafts we do pretty good in FA and, along with the scouting and coaching staff, we do a pretty good job picking up guys in the later round (as well as undrafted FA) and developing them. I can't remember the last time we didn't get comp picks for our efforts. Regarding Boller, I believe Suggs was drafted that same year in the same round; can't win em all.

I believe our draft selections are vetted by the entire FO, with Decosta having significant input. Saying that Ozzie is Alabama happy is a bit off.

You're a Raven fan so I know you're a good dude but let the rest of the draft play out. The defense will be solid, Kubiak looks to have a new offensive scheme worked out and I hope we're both back here celebrating another AFCN title shortly.

  9. James Jones is the only WR worth looking at in FA, also had his best year last year ( injuries moving him up the chain) He is a vet and probably pretty cheap.

edit: Emmanuel Sanders actually could be an awesome pick up but he might be looking for a big pay day. Also comming off his best season.

Both were making about 2.5mil. We could cover that easily and probably get some decent production.

Agreed. This would be a typical Raven FA move. A proven, stable vet who was cut by his team. It won't break the bank to sign him for 2-3 years and it looks like there's a lot of production left in Mr. Jones.
