  1. Id agree on the ranking of Nkemdichie I really don't see a top 10 guy other than from an athletic standpoint. There are too many glaring things that would make me question taking him in the top 15 even. I would take many players over him at this point, this is not to knock him as I think he could be good but I just couldn't justify it
  2. Thats big--This might change how more teams go about FA if they can now trade the picks..probably won't for many of the teams but it sure will give us more ammo
  3. Just wanted to add another mid round CB to the list who I really like. Kevin Peterson out of Oklahoma St. is someone I think who will develop really well in the NFL. Really quick footwork, nice size, scrappy but not to the point of penalties, looks to have a high football IQ and experience play inside/outside, off-man, bump and zone. Not sure of his draft position but from the small I have seen I was intrigued
  4. My order would be Bosa, Haergraves and lastly Ramsey. Bosa is a freak/great football player, not sure what more you could want out of an edge guy coming out of college. I also really like some of the pass rushers latter on but to me it is no reason not to take Bosa if you think he is the better player of the three.
  5. I am with you on that. Really do think he is a good player and sinks in and out of his breaks well and has good change of direction for his size, but it is not dynamic game changing quickness and I don't see deep speed. Again not a hate on him just don't see him as a top 25 pick.
  6. Hard to say right now. Some say Yes and some say no. I am more in the "No crowd" and think he will be there in that 6-15 range. I would expect Bosa, Haergraves, Paxton Lynch, Jared Goff, Nkemdiche, Tunsil and Stanley all as likely candidates to go ahead of him
  7. If I had to make a comparison for Ramsey I would say Eric Reid, with more playmaking potential and man-to-man coverage skills. I don't think either have swivel hips and both play high, but both have the length, hitting ability, and football IQ to be top level safeties.
  8. I think Paxton Lynch deserves some credit in this conversation. He will likely be a top 10 pick. Goff I expect to go top 10 too, I do like him he has nice feet and they always seem to be moving which gives him some nice pocket mobility, I also do like the trajectory of his throws and how it comes out. To have two top 10 QBs in one draft who most would likely say deserve to be there is not that bad. I think QB always has a drop off after that so I do not see this year as really any different than most other years. After that is usually developmental anyway, Cradale Jones, Cook, Hackenberg all have potential starting qualities
  9. Depending on where we draft Tre'Davious White, CB, LSU may be an option. While he has some major technique issues, to me he looks to be one of the best quick-twitch athletes out there, with great explosion, and I think his hip flexibility is up there with the elite. His ability to flip his hips is impressive and he can run in positions that many CBs cannot. He seems to be rising up boards and I don't see it slowing down at any point before the draft if he enters.
  10. well stated and I completely agree. I have not fully understood the love affair for him by many and I do not think I would touch him at any point in the first round. He is not a very complete player to me and will need to be extremely well schemed to take advantage of the physical gifts he has....there are several guys on the edge I would prefer over him like Nassib, Shaq Lawson, Ngakoue, Ogbah, and probably more as the season goes on...One thing I like about the Ravens, Patriots and Giants is their love affair with size in the front 7, Floyd seems opposite of what we usually covet.
  11. I don't think there really are questions about being able to get Bosa on the field with our combo that we have. Lets say Suggs comes back and is fully healthy he is every down kind of guy. Dumervil at his best is a pass rush specialist and is not a first down type of guy--we have done this in the past with Upshaw, currently can't do it now...Upshaw likely gone next year and Bosa slides into the role of early down Edge guy...when Doom comes in and Suggs still there slide Bosa inside on the DL and we have a great interior and outside pressure. so short answer rotate/bring Doom back to his pass rush specialist role I like the devils advocate thing as it is needed when looking at options so by no means trying to bust the thought here..I just really like the idea of Bosa as it allows you to use each player at his best place for the next 2 or 3 years...Bosa as an interior rusher on third downs can wreak havoc, Doom as a pure outside 3rd down pressure is his calling and Suggs always in there hopefully still rings true for a couple more years.
  12. As of right now I would agree. There is no one I can see our FO picking ahead of Bosa. I am completely ok with that and the only guy I would take if we were no.1 ahead of him (and I am undecided on this) is Ronnie Stanley...I am really enamoured though with Bosa's hand use, leverage, ability in both the run and pass game, and his motor. I cannot think of a ton of defenders coming out of college who are so well rounded as a pass rusher and run defender. As you stated Suggs injury, as well as his age and Dumervils age it is hard to pass up a talent like Bosa. I hoping we get him
  13. I am not as big on Nkemdiche as others. Athletic completely freak and when he gets through his gap and shoots up field I am extremely impressed. I think that athleticism, if used right in a 34 or 43, could wreak havoc on zine run games and pulling plays as he has the ability to get across the LOS in a hurry without OL being able to fill (Like what Calais Campbell did to us the other day). But my main issue is his ability to hold a gap, actually engage a defender, extend his arms and work from there to disengage. He has no issue getting past a guy on first move, but if that first move does not work or an OL hits him head up he has some major issues. His LSU 2014 game tape (which may be best barometer of NFL style blocking schemes and size/strength) it was like he was on roller skates. He seriously gets pushed 3 yards off the line with regularity. He also is not consistent with having his shoulders square to the LOS, and on many occasions he even turns his back to OL just to not get pushed further, really bad technique and a point of desperation for d-line men to do that. He is also on the ground more than any DL should be in any given game, not sure fully why, sometimes it looks like he is out of control with his technique, other times a little too head over body style. This one I am not as worried about as Brandon Williams does this from time to time as they both sometimes focus on just bulling the guy back. His film this year looks a lot better so I may be a little harsh as he has progressed which does mean a lot. Just for me at this point I could not take him top 5...I would take Ronnie Stanley, Tunsil, Haergraves, Ramsey, Treadwell, Bosa all over him with little questioning at this point I think all these deficiencies in his game can easily be masked by scheme. I just don't think it will be our scheme that does it. Even if we don't have Pees next year Ozzie and Co. will likely try and find a marriage between scheme on D and what they usually look for in drafting players. I think we are well known for in our front office for liking a big Front 7 and big DL who can two-gap. We are similar to the patriots in what we look for in the front 7 and how we draft. Obviously we draft outside of this ideal too with people like Timmy Jernigan, and them with Marcus Easley but I think our mainstays and consistent picks are more the Carl Davis types who are big, long, gap holders. I think when we get a new DC if we do there will be more attention to coaches he use the front 7 guys in these ways. I do not think we would go after guys who schemes are more like Wade Phillips or the one in Philly. Which is where I think Nkemdiche would fit best, him in a scheme like Phillies would be perfect imo. In our scheme (which is to be determined so my point is kinda null) I have huge question marks.
  14. With all the interest in Hargreaves thought it should be known he is going up against LSU and Dural tomorrow in prime time. As I have said before about LSU there passing game and QB is questionable but still a great matchup of rope teams and players. Also as grim stated biggest thing really is to win division. Steelers and cincy have consistent weapons at WR we at some point will need to match up with this. On that note our division is loaded with some talented defensive lines on every team so we cannot afford to let our oline diminish either
  15. I think we only play Calvin once every four years so no big deal really...j/k But on Hargreaves and his size as I have my concerns too. We do have guys like Jimmy and Tray Walker, and the NFL and everyone seems enamoured with big corners but there is a huuuuge need for us to have a guy who can be an outside or perimeter corner and cover players who get separation on their route running and quickness. We play Antonio Brown twice a year, we have done solid covering him and I think a guy like Hargreaves helps that for the future. We have been demolished by AJ Green consistently--I think we can all honestly say he alone has beat us atleast twice in the last two years. Clearly we have not covered him well, AJ is a big guy who runs like a small guy, in that he is a stud coming out of his breaks. I think we desperately need someone like Hargreaves as his movement is something we have been missing. Webb will not be around too much longer, and since his injuries he does not have the same type of movement. Hargreaves gives us a player who can match up on an Antonio Brown, Julian Edelman, Emmanuel Sanders, Travis Benjamin, Jeremy Maclin, Amari Cooper, OBJ and so on...we always point out he cannot cover Calvin, Julio, Dez but there are a ton of other types of WR threats who dominate in the league and we likely cannot cover or already shown we cannot. I am also concerned about his size but it is not like he looks like or plays like a 5'8, 180lb corner. Plus I think many comparisons could be made to Chris Harris, Revis, Trufant, Jason Verrett in terms of body type and play. On injury and small players the whole small player gets injured more argument baffles me. As 52520Andrew said Jimmy gets injured a decent amount great size, Webb does too (iffy size) I am not sure it is as simple as small=injury waiting to happen...seems to be little more complex
  16. I love Ramsey much like others but I amy be in the minority in preferring Hargreaves over him. I will not get into the positional debate of what is worse on our team as both are in dire need, both have some young guys, and both positions are not playing up to the standard that most would expect. So to me it is kinda moot in that regard. I absolutely love Hargreaves positioning as a DB, his footwork, his out of break quickness, his hands, his confidence and calmness when the ball is in the air, and his football IQ. I am enamoured with him really, he is one of the few corners to handle Amari Cooper (who we could not just a couple weeks ago). I think his impact is immediate and I do think he is an All-pro player at a very early point in his career. On Ramsey, really am a fan of his playing style and I will always remember how he blew up Miami(Fl.) last year. He does have the ability to change a game, but I have been extremely disappointed in his play this year. He is playing out of position, and there is no question his talent is at FS and this year should be taken with a grain of salt but I have a hard time justifying him over Hargreaves because of his play this year. As of right now I do not see Ramsey as a Top 5 talent...I would say more 10-15, he does have some limits or atleast I have some questions. I find his hips and quickness/burst from transitions (back pedal to driving on ball or turning upfield) to be a little slow and it makes me question if he will have the range to be a top tier FS, in the ways Earl Thomas does. I am not sure If I have seen him make a ton of plays outside the hashmarks and deep so I have my wonders about his range, and actually see him playing his best between the hashes and under twenty yards. JoeyFlex--CB may be an overrated need, I would say it is just as high as any other though. Also I understand the worry of drafting CBs high, but I think secondary players on a whole are having some tough transitions. There have been a ton of safeties that have failed to live up to draft expectations (Vaccarro, Elam, Cyprien, Barron) and I think of all the positions in the secondary they have the most on their plate. Which makes their transition from college to the pros imo harder. Ramsey is in a good spot though as he has been on an extremely well coached FSU D, same can be said for Hargreaves too.
  17. With Mike Williams out for the year it is going to be hard for Matt Miller to justify that one come draft time...I really like Michael Thomas, love his size/speed combination. I am not sure he is going to be a huge playmaker in the NFL but I could see him doing very well in a low end #1 role or high end #2 WR role..Also Braxton Miller has looked impressive at WR, he may be one to watch.
  18. Brought him up in another thread but as a mid-round LT with potential to start Jason Spriggs would be my top option at this point
  19. I am big on Sutton as well, I think given his skill set he has a viable chance to be a top 10 guy. He has been really good the past couple of years and with his size/speed/physicality combo I would not be surprised if he is the first CB off the board. Easily a top 15 pick to me. I really wanted Eric Murray to come out last year so obviously i like him, he seems to get downplayed a lot. Tra'Davious White is an interesting one to watch, I have my issues in that it looks like in his back pedal he is on his heels a lot, he crosses his feet a lot in transitions, and he seems a little handsy after five yards which could bite him in the NFL. Looks raw but talented, not sure if he will come out or should come out. Will Redmond is another guy I like, seems balanced and active in the secondary. Handled Dural well in the LSU game, iffy to say this though as their passing game is very skeptical and probably not the best example of good talent on good talent. Got abused at times on the Ole Miss tape on draft breakdown. Looks like he can get caught flat footed at the line and once a WR eats up his cushion and breaks he is in bad spots, could be slow footwork. Like him though.
  20. He really impresses me..I am not sure where he will go on draft day but he has such a good combination of size/speed and has proven big play ability. His YPC is pretty impressive being in the 20+ range...Also he seems like one of the few speedsters/deep threats with the ability to sink his hips, run every/all routes, and catch fluidly with his hands. One of my favourite prospects this year and he could be something very special.
  21. I have been a big defender of Pees in the past but I have to change my tune now. This week against Pittsburgh is gonna be big for morale at every level. i hope we win so things just don't implode as I expect things will be a little crazy if we go 0-4...maybe that is a good thing but I do NOT want it to see it come at the expense of young players like Timmy, Carl Davis, Terrance Brooks, Melvin, Cj and all the rest loosing confidence and swagger for the future. That to me would be the worst possible situation going into next year. On that note what to do so we do not ruin the development of young guys. I do think we need to move on from Pees. I am one of it is much easier to sit with failure if you go down trying hard, guns a blazing, full out...not sure Pees is doing that and the failure seems to sting more as we just seem to go down and loose as we play simple and careful schemes in the hopes that one of the young guys is not in a bad spot, but in the end we are. In short I would rather live and die by the blitz at this point then what we have been doing, which is live and die by the cushion...it just stings more.
  22. Given this is a Baltimore Ravens forum, and some of you may be living in Baltimore or surrounding area anyone have any thoughts on Yannick Ngakoue, Edge, Maryland?? I rarely if ever get the chance to watch the Terps in Canada and there is nothing on the internet really to see. Thoughts on him or if you have watched him at all?
  23. As of now these two are near the top of my board...Treadwell is a beast and he came back from his injury in better shape than what he was before, he looks slimmed down and quicker and still has that physicality that at some point may be up there with the Dez Bryants of the NFL world. I would have an extremely hard time passing him up for anyone and he is my no.1 for us. I really like the Cb depth too...Ramsey I prefer much more as a S and I think it would be a shame if someone drafts him as a CB mainly as I think it will loose out on some of his playmaking ability that is so impressive when he is between the hashes and shoulders parallel to the LOS. Just my thought on him...As for the CBs I love Hargreaves, Florida allows their CBs to peak inside at the QB a lot , which we do not do as much, but to me he plays that type of scheme extremely well. His ability to key in and break on balls reminds me a lot of Talib, in terms of how he watches the QB. But other aspects of his game seems more controlled like Revis. My favourite thing about him though is when he plants his foot to come out of his break he can beat a receiver to a point, that short explosion of his is crazy. If I were looking for a corner he would be my no.1 over Ramsey, but they offer different things. As for other CBs I like Cameron Sutton over Fuller at this point. I have heard a lot of love for Leonard Floyd--I like him too but not sure I like his fit for what we ask of our Edge guys...Albeit he would be in a position with Suggs back next year that he would be a situational rusher. But I think we ask too much of our edge guys for him to be as successful as he could be. I don't like the idea of him setting an edge, I think he will be better suited in a more hybrid role like what Bruce Irvin plays in Seattle or Jamie Collins in NE...maybe if we have a new coordinator this would work well but as of now I am just not a huge fan of him for our team. On other teams I think he could flourish though. Bosa seems more like a scheme fit for what we usually do, won't say much as I don't think we have a shot, if we do yay. Nkemdiche has not been brought up but I think he should and could. Not sure how I feel about him, athletically he is a freak. But when you watch him there are so many questions. If you watch the LSU one from draft breakdown it is clear he gets pushed around inside rather easily. To me I think he is being used wrong at Ole Miss. I don't think he is an interior DL and I don't see him doing too well there. However, I think he could play the Edge on a team that asks him to set the edge and get upfield. Similar to how Mario Williams has been used in the past as an edge guy. I was adamantly against Mario in a 34 as an OLB but he proved me wrong big time, I think Nkemdiche would improve in on a team that uses him like Mario in Buffalo or Texans when in a 34. His strength and size may be a terror for OT. Not my highest rated guy but he may be an option on the edge. Atleast I think he is, not in the top 10 though or over the stud secondary guys.
  24. Not a high rounder but I was impressed by Jonathan Bullard, DL, Florida in their game against tennessee today. Great game btw, and really cannot believe they came back for the win, rather disappointed tbh. On Bullard though he looks like he needs to add some bulk to do what we ask of our DL but he can play in multiple fronts, he does look to have a natural strength to him and he has some burst. Would be a nice mid rounder at this point who I think could develop really well. Also in the same game Cameron Sutton, CB, looked solid, not great. Did not see him getting targeted a ton so in that way he did do pretty good. On the couple I remember his tackling was iffy, very high and his frame is slight for sure. He is an extremely aggressive jammer--at this point I have not seen enough to say if in good or bad way but as of now I wonder if he is over-aggressive in this way as his technique seemed sloppy and full body lunge like, which some veteran and well coached NFL players can have some fun with. Am really interested in him though as a first rounder to keep an eye on as his length and movement are impressive
  25. I would agree just because of the contract and as stated his constant injury issues. But I am not against taking a developmental guy this year in the 2nd or later, kinda in the sense of Terron Armstead or how we had tried several years ago with Adam Terry...A guy like Jason Spriggs from Indiana is a really interesting prospect who I would be all for at this point
