  1. I tend to be in that boat. Like him a lot but tend to view him as a journeymen type of guy who will help teams have a chance if they have a gap at the position. I was impressed early on by him and he has all the tools, he really can sling it
  2. Was planning to go more proven the whole time with my pick but the run on young made me good with this. I was not a huge fan of Winston when he came out but he proved me wrong quickly, love his attitude (thought it was brash at the time of draft) and competitive drive. Expecting a good year from him this year
  3. With the 11th pick the Winking Bears select: Jameis Winston | QB
  4. Darn--I knew Russell wouldn't get to me. Personally if I was building a franchise I would take him after Aaron Rodgers.
  5. I would agree. There are only a small handful (very small maybe 2 or 3) of QBs who you can say can near singlehandedly get you to and win a Super Bowl. The rest of the great ones basically can get you to the playoffs and give you a fighting chance. If you look at what Watt has done for the Texans he at the minimal gets you to the playoffs or atleast wins you several games on his play alone and gives you a fighting chance. That is likely just as good or better than most of the QBs who go in the top 10 of this draft

  7. Nice reports on the 'Bama guys..for sure are ones to watch In the mid to late first, and maybe even second round, Cameron Sutton, CB, Tennessee would be a good option. He has that length we desire on the outside, a ton of starting experience, and relatively good COD for someone with his length.
  8. I'll join. I really hope I can finally draft a QB in the first round. never had the opportunity in this game and always seem to end up with one of the last five picks
  9. Just to add a little on Correa as I don't think it has been mentioned. When watching him he really does play with a chip/looks like he is a trash talker in your face kinda guy on the field. Quickly watch the BYU tape and after nearly every play he is chirping in the face of OL, TEs, RBs, etc. and after a play is made he is always there to 'celebrate/congratulate'...While this may be small it is amazing what players with attitude and camaraderie on the field bring to the vibe and playing style of a team and defence. When Suggs was out we really missed that trash talking, dancing after sacks, jumping on teammates after big plays type attitude. We lost a lot of that with Ray and Ed. I do think he will add some of that swagger attitude which has not been as prevalent in recent defensive leaders (ala Mosley, Jimmy Smith, doom). As much as I get annoyed at guys like Joey Porter, James Harrison, Dez Bryant, and so on...you need these guys on the field to set that tempo--I think its safe to say we lost some of that last year...I also think it is safe to say we have enough personalities next year to bring it back with guys like Suggs, Brandon Williams, Timmy Jernigan and add Correa
  10. Outside of the reach/reaction on Eli Apple I really like the Giants draft. I actually think we have one of the better drafts given the mid round talent that we accumulated in a draft where mid round value was great. Also like the Vikings draft
  11. per usual, did terrible. Willie Henry for 3 pts
  12. Same as our other poll but this is under the assumption we trade back with the Titans pick up their early 2nd and get the 16th overall pick..
  13. Would love billings or fuller right now
  14. I have fallen in the same boat. I think if we trade back he is the guy we take and is likely there for the taking. Think he would be in a good environment with guys like Doom and Suggs. Also given how the board falls...The only way I see this trade occurring is if we are on the board and Tunsil is there--as that is why the Titans will trade up, we may be able to fleece a little more out of them knowing the value of the pick is more than the draft value chart suggests. Which would be nice and I really think if we had three picks within the first 36 picks we should be able to find a new core for our D to go along with CJ, Timmy, and Brandon Williams
  15. We have been big on smaller school flyers in that range (3-4 rounds), add Webb, Tray Walker, David Pittman, Gino Gradkowski...dont always work out but clearly we don't mind taking a chance. Javon Hargrave is one I think we may like and maybe go back to Colorado St. for Hollywood Higgins
  16. Agreed..However I am excited about the value I am expecting to see in the mid first for pass rushers (any of Dodd, Lawson, Floyd, or Spence is solid) and then we have two picks to start the 2nd round and should get some good value at CB there and fill the other pick with BPA/whoever drops. It is an interesting thought as we could have something like Tunsil & Kendall Fuller if we stay...if we trade back we could get something like Dodd, Fuller and Vernon Butler....I would be heavily enticed by that second option
  17. emphasis on the if it occurs, not if you want it to occur. I tend to agree though, as long as we have a shot at Tunsil, Ramsey, Bosa, or Stanley I would rather stay. Which by my accounts we are assured to.
  18. It is bound to happen as it does every year so why not start this specific position talk early... Quick thoughts on the future...Steve Smith retiring leaves us with Breshad Perriman, Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown, Darren Waller and Michael Campanaro...not the most inspiring at this juncture, but it is only week two so hopefully this discussion changes by the end of the year.. Given our need for other positions too (CB, Rush, etc.) I wanted to open this up to WR prospects i general not just first rounders as that may not be when it occurs and I would like to know of who to keep an eye out for as the season progresses. I don't know a ton quite yet but of some videos I have watched my thoughts: Laquan Treadwell--really, really like him, looked great in the 'Bama game, not heavily used but when he was he fought for the ball, won the battles and brings a physicality intensity to the O much like a Dez Bryant or our soon to be retired Steve Smith. Plays like a raven to me but we would need our season to go down the drain to have a shot at him imo. Tyler Boyd--Reminds me a lot of Keenan Allen, in that he does everything in college and but not sure I see huge explosion and would not be surprised if he dropped in a similar fashion. Like him as he has produced though consistently. Michael Thomas--I am a big fan, love his size/physicality and hands. Reminds me of a Boldin type but may be more like a Crabtree in the end...I think we need a possession guy once Smith is gone and he may fit in nicely and I don't seem him going in round 1 Travin Dural--Love how LSU and Cam Cameron develop players for the NFL, he seems to have everything you look for and looks to be a continual riser all year. Others or added thoughts as I have not seen a ton of them or know who to watch for
  19. Its weird I have absolutely no clue either..for want I put Ramsey...for think I put Tunsil...I feel like I have more of a concrete idea of who we are picking when we have picked in the 20s which really doesn't make any logical sense but so far this draft has been a shake-up from past years so who knows
  20. They are in a tough spot and that he is in his final year of his contract and its even worse. Its very difficult for them to give a 'good' contract for both sides, they won't want to put in much guaranteed or length to his contract and Brees will adamantly say he has three or so years left at a high level and knows the FA market will go crazy for him....In the end I don't see this being a decision of readiness or anything close but a salary cap decision they have to make. I personally have a hard time seeing Brees back after this year with the Saints so I think it would be good for them togged Lynch, have him benched for one year and feel good for the year after that he is not completely handcuffed. If they do trade up with us I actually think we would be in a very good spot to get one of these pass rushers we are wanting so much and really do need. At 12 we may have a shot at all or a couple of Dodd, Shaq Lawson, Leonard Floyd.plus the extra draft picks.

  22. I've always been pretty skeptical on his footwork...his base placement seems pretty thin and imo his feet are way to close together to have a strong base to anchor, add that with his relatively tall play and he may have some issues. I may look back now as it was a while back I watched any videos on him but at the time I don't remember being too keened up.
  23. Meant that more in reference to the teams above us and determining who will be there for us. I think we just take whoever falls out of Tunsil, Ramsey, Bosa and Jack so the more interesting part is really what do Dallas, Jax and SD do..and if Jags have played quiet before you never know who they will go for. Supposedly Caldwell was enamoured with Bortles very early on in the whole draft process. He may have had his mind up a long time ago on who he really wants.
  24. Cant remember exactly the details but Jacksonville was rather quiet about the whole Bortles pick that year. I am not sure if they had formal meetings with him even....so I think the whole pre draft visits/interviews as deciders or anything of the sorts is maybe a little overblown. I am sure if they are investing in a guy with an early pick and for the next five years or more they do many things within the organization beyond the football tape to know he is their guy. I am sure many have read the stories of car/van drivers being big in evaluating a players conduct character, or other informal contacts/ways to get at the areas that a formal interview/visit would.
  25. Of those listed, I think A'shawn would be a nice pickup in the second. feel he fits our D to a T...I think Mackensie Alexander will be there at our third round pick with all the speculation on attitude, size issues, and turnover/ball skills.
