I just feel sad for him but I am kinda glad the saga has ended. He was evidently a very bright kid, but he seems to have a lot of Ricky Williams without the dope and travel! Oh wait, some of Pacman Jones as well!
I am a huge redemption type guy. So, I am truly hoping Rolando redeems himself. The fact that he showed up tells me he truly wants to get back into the NFL. After reading Mt. Cody's interview with the 'Sun' I am halfway convinced Rolando is on the path to full redemption.
As we all know and understand, this is a no lose situation for the Ravens, but I honestly believe this Rolando situation will turn out to be the biggest win of all for us this season... just my instincts and nothing else folks.
Here is the link:
The fact he was reinstated gives me hope. Perhaps, the Ravens understand the Rolando experiment a lot better than we do. They must know the upside he has and the probability of him realizing his potential. In either case, there is no down side to him working out at the facility under the tutelage of the strength and fitness coaches, and learning the playbook while at camp.
3 months is a long time to whip oneself into playing shape and form, and as long as Roland is committed to it, I don't see it as an improbable occurrence. I wish he makes the final roster by improving, because if he does, we are a vastly better defense.
I really think Steve Bisciotti should recruit the services of Ray Lewis to go have a chat with him on the Ravens behalf and report back to the team about his thoughts and motivation level. I am sure Ray will not only inspire Rolando to come back but he won't want to let Ray down. So, it will all be positive imo....
I read the full article in Carroll County Times and I just had this premonition. I am generally a very trusting type, but after reading the article I just felt that this Rolando McClain will make our team the feared Ravens defense of old!
I also believe that Kapron Lewis will add great depth to our D-line and will be a stud for us. With Ngata, an improved and young Williams, Tyson and Lewis Moore, Suggs and Doom pass rushing and with Rolando and Daryl Smith rounding off the front 7, how can anybody run against us?? All we need in the draft is a great free safety in the first round and we are set on defense. It is likely we will get a very good RT in the second round to anchor our offensive line too. How can any team really beat us?? The only way we lose is if we beat ourselves like last year! I am excited for Rolando as the comeback player of the year!
Yes that's right!I hated the fact that we let Bobby Rainey go too.... it was really a case of sour grapes on my part.Bobby Rainey Exploded Running behind Zuttah, 3 TD'S in 1 game and almost 200 yards on the ground. Lol
Hmm... never heard of him either, but again I haven't heard of too many non probowl caliber non-Ravens players either. I wonder what he graded out at Center last year? Hopefully somebody can post it for our benefit.
I like the idea of homegrown players staying. I hope Dickson stays and under Kubiak who knows? He may blossom into a real threat as a receiver because he is better at blocking than Pitta already!
If we are even considering Clark, why not ask Reed to come back at vet minimum and retire after this season? I think a horrible Ed Reed is vastly superior to Clark on any given Sunday despite how slow he might seem to the rest of you who seem to think he is totally washed up. I guarantee you if Ed Reed were back as a Raven, he would have at least 5 ints because now QBs think they can throw his way...
I would be really sad if we ever signed Clark. I think he is a sissy who can't take a hit. I think he is an empty vessel that makes a ton of noise but essentially is empty. Moreover, when did the Ravens ever need Steeler discards??
There are conflicting reports on McClain. We just lost one McClain to the Giants. Do you think Rolando McClain unretires and comes back to play for the Ravens? He is said to be working out and keeping in shape, but football shape is a whole different thing. However, if he has straightened his act this past year and is really motivated to succeed, how do you think his presence affects our D?
I have previously posted that Ozzie will surprise us all and pick a D-Tackle in the first round, probably Nix (doubtful if he'll be available), Jernigan, Hegeman or Aaron Donald to shore up our defensive front and to make up for Art Jones' loss. With a really tough front, if we can add Rolando to the linebacking corps along with D. Smith I think we'll be an awesome defense.
However, there is a major 'if' with Rolando. What do you guys think?
I honestly see Ozzie pick the absolute best player available on our board. I suspect some player who is in the top 10-12 on our board will fall and we pick him up. I would be lying if I told you what position that would be. I don't think Ozzie knows at this point.
I am so stoked that Steve Smith is here. We now have legitimate receiving threats. It is now all Flacco! Let's go!
Way better than what I expected. I had posted 5 yrs at 8MM and Ozzie beat that! So cool to be a Ravens fan. Smart and tidy organization with great leaders from Steve Bisciotti all the way down!
But the thing is Owen Daniels is an older clone of Dennis Pitta, a good pass catching TE with limited blocking skills. But, Pettigrew is a better fit it seems like because he is a decent all around TE with good blocking skills, a surefire upgrade on Dickson...I think that our interest is more on the side of Owen Daniels than Pettigrew now. Just my opinion, but but apparently he has a great relationship with Kubiak. Everyone still beleives he has alot of good years left.
Monroe is definitely coming back. He has few alternatives because contrary to his or his agent's belief he wasn;t close to being in the top wants of teams other than the Ravens. I am disappointed that we have to go after Pettigrew which can only mean we aren't drafting a TE.
Two things I have surmised are going to happen. One, Arthur Jones will move on with absolute certainty. However, Eugene Monroe will have no choice but to come back and sign with the Ravens. Why?
For one, the Dolphins aren't that interested in him because they are interested in fierce run blocking Brandon Alberts who is just a year or two older but may come cheaper and who is supposedly meaner. Albert also happens to be Arizona's top choice. Veldheer and Roger Saffold are also being more aggressively pursued by teams than Monroe.
So, where does it leave Monroe? Nowhere but to accept the deal we give him and do as he is told! End of story - Monroe is going to be signed first tomorrow - mark my words. He will act like he is doing us a favor and never really wanted to leave Baltimore yadi, yada, etc., but the truth is nobody else wanted him at the price we were willing to pay for him period.
He will accept a deal that averages between 8.25 and 9 M a year in these possibilities - 4 yrs 37-38 MM, 5yr, 40-42M or 6 yrs - 48-50M. I guarantee you the Ravens won't pay more than that. The negotiation I believe is more about length and guaranteed money than it is about $/yr!
Get him in on a cheap one year deal to play safety like we did Daryl Smith last year. If he does a Daryl Smith and plays out of his mind, then we can think about what to do next year. Otherwise he isn't worth the risk...champ says he doesent mind playing safety.
could be a good veteran stop gap at FS for 1 or 2 years.
unlesss he wants a big pay day.
wonder how much he has left.
I agree.... I do think Pitta is a good TE. And, he will get picked up by another team, and for good money, that's why the issue is such a hot one. If his agent wants to argue that he lined up as a WR... then the Ravens can argue that he only played 4 games total last year with a severe injury... and try and get a deal done now. If I am the Baltimore Ravens, (which I'm not obviously) I might look at trying to get the contract deal done for the lower money... with maybe a performance bonus.... If you don't perform, then you don't get paid... I don't think that signing bonuses and performance bonuses count against the cap, simply because they are not guaranteed $$$.
All good points. I think that is perhaps what ends up happening in Pitta's case.
If it is true that his agent wants him designated as a WR for a franchise tag, I say we need to let him walk. If he wanted to be paid like a WR he should have listed himself as a WR and get drafted as one. He isn't a WR, wasn't drafted as one, so why should the Ravens every want to pay him like one?
Yeah, he may have lined up 79 % as a WR, but isn't that up to the play calling? What is up with these agents I don't know. Now, just because JImmy Graham's agent wants him designated as a WR, doesn't mean Pitta should. Production wise, they are miles apart.
I want the kind that gets open and catches the ball even if it is in triple coverage... that is the kind of WR we need and I want!
Man I was so happy watching Kubiak speak. A class act all the way. I am proud of Harbaugh too! He finally did what was right for the team! Who cares how it got done, but it got done finally! My only concern is why wasn't Shanahan part of the team that was brought in? Is he still out there being considered as a RB coach? I would love to get him on board as well...
This is more exciting than the season!!

The only issue I have with Mosley is his weight. Isn't he a little small to shed blocks and stop powerful RBs?? I am just not very excited with the pick. It is a safe pick but I wish we had gotten an exciting playmaker or a solid lineman like Zack Thomas... and I am surprised we didn't go after Pryor who in my opinion is the best safety in the draft...
