Now that is a picture that is downright scary!

Um... No.. .Just no... No one. Strongest member on the team. Even stronger than Ngata
Point noted Grim! Precisely why I ignored his labored response this go around.Well, fortunately we run a ZBS system so I'm not sure how important it is that John is super strong. Furthermore, he can improve in that area and that's exactly why we have a weight room at the UA facility. I don't think you need to be so caustic, however, in response. I understand that perhaps he was a bit sarcastic, but sarcasm doesn't necessarily need more sarcasm in return. Just my opinion.

Also, Brandon Williams has freakish body strength and that was before an entire season of NFL football. Combine that with the entire season and now off-season of football, and that may be an unfair competition for Urschel, who wasn't the strongest to begin with but going against Williams might be a bit too much at this point.
Whose do you ask? I say Yanda's and K.O's!Who's do?
Hello. A brief excerpt from Ryan Mink who literally saw Urschel at practice so you can spend some time pondering your caustic remark laden with ill founded sarcasm. Here is the actual observation from Ryan Mink's post:Have you actually watched Urschel? For some reason I doubt it
"One knock on center/guard John Urschel is that he isn’t that strong. His arms don’t match up to defensive tackle Brandon Williams, but Urschel is a big, cut player."
Andre Johnson is an elite receiver by any standard. Torrey Smith is an up and coming receiver who had his first 1000 yard season last year. To compare him to Johnson is very unfair to both players.
Andre Johnson is a total receiver and one of the best in past decade. Torrey isn't and is basically a deep threat and evolving as a complete receiver. He may never ever be in the league of Andre Johnson, but that is okay. Would I exchange Torrey for Andre. Probably not at this point in Andre's career. However, if it was 2 yrs earlier with the present day Torrey, I would have. At that point we may have gotten 5-6 yrs of a dynamic Andre Johnson, but right now we may only get a couple unless he turns in a Tony Gonzalez type career.
Point well taken. However, NFL level coverages can't be any more complicated than integral calculus right?I think we need to be a bit careful with getting excited about Urschel's intelligence, as it's one of those things that differs from person to person. You have guys who have PHDs who can't balance a checkbook or maintain a relationship (for example). The point is that all kinds of things require a different kind of intelligence, and there's a reason FOs talk up "football IQ". To be honest, CJ Mosley doesn't seem all that bright (maybe he just comes off that way in the interviews), but his football IQ seems to be through the roof.
Â
Does Urschel have the mind capacity to understand NFL-level coverages? Sure. But I think we should wait before proclaiming him a super-genius until after he hikes a few balls.
Â
All of that said, I haven't seen him play yet so I can't say whether he regularly made the right reads in college.
I have to agree with your statement. Torrey isn't a true #1, again whatever that means! lolAnd just to clarify, I am one of those guys who consider Torrey a "#2", whatever that means
For the very same reason you sir, are wrong.Have you actually watched Urschel? For some reason I doubt it
Urschel gets pushed back a lot, which seems like the Gradkowski syndrome to me. However, he is super smart unlike Gino who had trouble dissecting defenses and getting his O-line on the same page... hopefully in a year or two Urschel adds strength and bulk and is our future center in 2 yrs. Zuttah can be a formidable guard for us.Gradkowski sucked at center, but that was because Shipley was starting next to him and he didn't know the calls. Gradkowski could be a decent guard. Urschel could be a good guard as well.
We've sighed one solitary CB after the draft? It beats me. I understand that there are 31 other teams recruiting, but is it such a hard sell to land a CB to such a CB needy team such as ours? I wouldn't think so. Why then are we losing recruits to other less needy teams??
This 2014 draft is like fine wine to me. The older it gets, the better it tastes! Go Ravens!
And finally, when the night drew to a close, because we didn't have a single offensive player drafted, we decided to reach and pick a prospect that was slated to go in the 5-6th rounds! Yay! Justice served.
The fact that the Niners pick before us worries me. I just think Jim outsmarts John and gets info out of him...
I am just totally bummed now. Tre Mason gone!
I didn't hear it anywhere... I guessed we must since we haven't drafted any tackles so far that can start day 1. Sorry if it came across any other way.where did you get that info???
Dang! Jarvis Landry is off the board... we are in trouble folks...
Say hello to Eric Winston folks - your new RT!
zzzravenszzz - thank God Ozzie and team are not 'zzz'ing but working their board! The Jernigan pick is horrible! The guy quit on his team and took himself out of the National Championship Game! Horrible! Ozzie is losing it...
I love the two picks so far, but everybody else we covet are going faster than anticipated perhaps...
Well, I really don't believe Morgan Moses, Marquise Lee, Cyrus, Bitonio or Sua-Filo fall to us, but if one of them do, I will be tickled!
I wasn't uber excited with the pick last night, but this morning I feel differently. I feel we really got the best available player who I believe will be the face of our defense in 5 yrs. Go Ravens and add the next best available player at 48!
We have 16 more players to go before we pick tomorrow. I truly don't expect a good OG or safety to fall to us at that point... hopefully we can pick another impact player tomorrow. I am not unhappy with the Mosely pick because I do believe he was the highest rated player on our board, but now all good safeties are gone with only one from Florida State left.... I hope we get Morgan Moses or Brooks tomorrow.
This draft will come back to haunt us in the long run because we had the pick of safeties in the first but by the end of the round, all draftable safeties gone!!!
I guarantee you SF picked Jimmie Ward because John won't shut up about our targets and prospects with his family! The Niners don't have the scouting resources we do, so go figure...
