Having Givens start should open things up for the offense
It's really a tough call about Perriman. We need to get him on the field to see if he is worth keeping around for next year, and yet we could also use the roster spot. I'm sure Harbs will make the right decision when he has to.
He's still in his rookie contract so I doubt they simply let him go next year, but I am interested to see if he's worth it. He's pretty raw in his route running, but hopefully he's been hitting film study hard because he has the size and speed.
Read my comment, I said FOR 2015. Not for next years to come. My point was that Patriots should have been removed of their 1st round draft pick, but due to Perrimans unfortunate injury we are essentially out of our 1st selection this year.
Read before you blare.
Its still irrelevant though. Yeah he isn't playing for the season, but we still have him for the future. Where as the Pats won't have a pick at all. And again, it's not like any other first round wr other than cooper is playing this year. No one is blarring (interesting word choice) I seemly said the argument doesn't make a lot of sense imo.
I would love to see the Ravens sign Jeffries or another FA WR, possibly Roddy White or Percy Harvin. I think our TE corps will be very good next season as well, but as far as Pierrman goes I think he may end up being a bust. True we won't know until he hits the field, but I am a little concerned about his durability and desire to play already.
Looking forward to a brighter season next year and hopefully Joe will restructure and free up some cash to get some reliable weapons on offense.
Go Ravens!!
All this talk about Perriman's injury, and you want to bring in Percy Harvin?
Jeffries would be a dope signing, but he likely going to get a Thomas type contract which I don't think we would be able to match
seems like a game that can increase our secondaries confidence, hopefully pees can be aggressive.
While bortles is turnover prone, he still carves up defenses. Granted they play from behind a lot, but hurns and robinson has been arguably the best wr duo in the league this year. We might be able to cause some turnovers, but we'll have our hands full trying to stop those two.
How ironic. It was the New England Cheat-a-lots who played dishonest, maybe even against us as well, yet it was us who essentially lost a 1st round pick for 2015. Sigh. My issue with Perriman isn't that it takes so long to heal, but the fact that he might be another of our injury proned players.
the first part of your quote doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Yeah, we probably lost him for this season, but that doesn't mean we lost a pick unless he just decides to retire. He still has all of next season, and the next two seasons after that to play out his contract. I was against the pick from the start, but no wr in the first round of this past draft has started more than 3 games other than Cooper.
Pretty hyped we have him. He's gonna give LT a run of the #2 spot
#2 spot belongs to buck
Hearing docs are saying it's not safe for pitta to play again. Honestly, might be the best thing for him. He re-injured his hip without being touched last time he was cleared. That's scary
Learning experience. I'm thinking he's been humbled, and may even have a chip on his shoulder now to play harder.
Lotta good, positive comments here. As soon as he fumbles a game away, or gets burned on a game winning TD, watch out for all the vitriol.
Naturally haha
Those teams are terrible at drafting period with the exception of the Colts and they just canned their GM. The Ravens are awful at drafting WR's and should deviate from the strategy of the 1st round home run or waiting until the 6th round to select a WR. Rounds 2-4 load up...
Yes the Ravens suck at drafting wr, but i think you missed his point. White and Parker were both supposed to be a sure thing. Some even had white over cooper. Nelson Ag. and dorsett were supposed to be steals. I'm extremely frustrated with the Perriman situation, but you can't predict injury
Getting surgery now sounds right but that's not how it's gonna work haha. They'll wait til the last second to make a decision. If he shouldve had surgery it should been done already.
Sadly, this is probably right...
Give him another shot at returning. I would say hold off on letting him play corner. I mean we have been absolutely horrible against the pass, and have pulled guys from the street before giving Asa a shot. He may not be any worse, but he definitely won't be any better. I will say the kid is a play maker. If he keeps grinding, he can get another shot at corner eventually.
Just shut him down. Give him more time to strengthen his ligaments. No need to rush him back and risk injuring him further. We're going to need more help at wr anyway, especially if Steve retires, probably end up drafting a wr in later rounds like 3-7
My post somehow got mixed up. The post that it is saying I responded too is another post I wrote before that one. Must have mixed it up. Thanks for taking the time to point that out to me. Lol
No worries, wasn't being a jerk, just looking for clarification
He'll probably have surgery at the end of the season. As bad as that sounds.
You might be right, but why wait so long? If he gets surgery now, he likely won't be ready by next season's start
Maybe raiders and browns games will cost us at the end, but we still can pull this out...tricky games Rams,Hawks and Steelers
Those 2 games definitely cost us, but if we take care of business the 2nd half of the season, then a wild card is not out of reach.
Dean Pees isnt the problem though. And who else is better suited to run our defense midway through the season? Pees is a veteran coach and coach a couple superbowl winning defenses. Im pretty sure the problem is with some of the players and lack of talent that he is dealing with. Remember we have a lot of young players and practice squad type of players that are playing for us right now. If anything Pees has done a good job with the talent he has had playing. We've had #4 and #5 safeties and corners playing in a lot of our games. We trade for some better guys and they get hurt. Unfortunate circumstances.
What does this have to do with the quote you responded to?
The fact that most losing franchises (the Browns come to mind) continue to change coaches and continue to fail yet franchises who have long term coaches such as Cincinnati, New England, Green Bay, etc... continue to excel. Could it be that changing coaches like underwear isn't the answer if you are trying to build a dynasty. The answer isn't to fire Pees as how has swapping OC's every year turned out. Not so good. Get him some players who want to concentrate on learning football and not selling shoes in the offseason and maybe he might be able to put a defense together.
Green bay's oc from just a few seasons ago just got fired in Miami, and new England runs through quite a few OCs. Josh McDaniels is in his second stay with the patriots. Head coaches don't change on winning teams, but assistant coaches change regardless of winning or losing. Whether they get fired, or get head coaching jobs somewhere. And to answer your questions, we're ranked 10th in offense. Would probably be better if not for injury, so I say it's turned out ok.
Are we really tied for 6th? must be down here for sacks.
peters is a straight up stud and we all knew it, but im not sure a stud cb would have affected our season, our safety play and the lack of communication in the back end is by far the biggest problem, a majority of the big plays and long drives given up through the air have been due to our safeties blowing assignments and people not knowing what their job is. webb hasnt been all that bad this year and jimmy's lisfranc has affected him but with good safety play then im pretty sure jimmys only real failure would have been his TD he gave up to amari cooper. a safety and a DC and a pass rusher is what this defense needs far more than a cb
Yeah that's true, but I'm referring to the 49ers game for instance where they purposely targeted wright. Anyway, as they say, hindsight is 20/20
they definitely should have taken diggs, and yeah darby turned out quite good but he didnt have many first round grades, hes overachieving in relation to his draft projections. you can bet every last cent that marcus peters was 100% the ravens top target at that point, and when he was taken it was between bud dupree, perriman, or a trade back, and they really did take one of the best remaining players with perriman, there wasnt much talent on the board anymore at that point
Yeah, I agree with that assessment. Man having Peters would have given us another win or two.
To be fair, Darby had a first round grade and slide to the second if my memory serves me correctly. However, I agree. There wasn't any better talent left on the board. I just wish they had taken diggs over walleryou say we should have bolstered the secondary... ok, so name a single db on the board at 26th that was anywhere close to first round material, go ahead ill wait...
and kindle is a jerk because he suffered from narcolepsy and fell down a flight of stairs? accidents happen, injuries happen, players miss time, its part of the game. yeah im sure a first round pick who everyone from UCF gave raving character reviews for, is just faking an injury to get a seasons pay and then calling it quits, that sounds likely.
get real people, im appalled at some of the reactions i read to perrimans injury..
Pretty sure we can bring back jacoby for cheap now right? Fills two voids (although ross as been a decent returner)

Givens was a starter and very solid for the Rams, but two first round picks and an injury pushed him down their depth chart.
