  1. I'm fairly certain that unless he explodes this year he won't command as much money as the others. Most teams don't use the same situational DEs as we do. No one is going to want to pay a ton of money for a guy that doesn't produce sacks. Most people just use stats to place the value of a defensive player. Sacks equal money. I think he tests the waters and comes back.
  2. Exactly! he is asked to do a specific job and he excels at it
  3. I completely agree with you, but you have people saying he is a bust because he doesn't get sacks as if that were the only way to measure a player's potential.
  4. I agree with what you're saying the only thing I'm countering is that you don't have to be a starter to be a leader. Let's say for instance a player like Forsett doesn't have the immediate talent to start in the NFL, but he works harder than anyone else, and pushes his teammates in practice. Even though he never started, wouldn't you call that a leader. At any rate, yes Elam should benefit from lewis and hill. Playing behind them should also enable he to watch more and not have added pressure to perform. Then again, his job is on the lone if he doesn't show up this season
  5. Which is exactly why I said I get it
  6. Most the people hating on Upshaw are the same ones that praise JJ. I'm just saying. Dude hasn't been flashy, but he's been solid which is what we've asked of him. If he were struggling them OZ and John would "subtly" call him out as they have done with others. Namely, Matt Elam
  7. Um. I don't know which Ed Dickson you're talking about because the one in Carolina is sitting on the bench behind Greg Olsen and only had 10 catches last season. To put that in perspective, he had 11 his rookie season and 25 his last season in Baltimore. So tell me again how he's playing better... Pitta not at 100% is probably still better than Dickson
  8. really wow? So many things I want to say, but I'm going to be respectful and say just show some class. This man is putting his body on the line to do something he loves and so you can be entertained and you care about the money? wow!
  9. I like Pitta. He's a good guy and I'd hate to see him get hurt again. He's got to think about life after football. He could be chancing not be able to walk straight, if at all. I get it though. You can't just quit something you love. At the very least he should take more time. Last time he was cleared and ready and he went down without being touched. If his goal is to play this season I say wait even if you think you're ready. At the end of the day, only the docs and Pitta himself know
  10. The point is Ihedigbo was a good leader on the field so Elam could and should have learned from him. Was he a temporary replacement? Maybe, but that doesn't mean he isn't a good leader. I never said it was a big deal that Hill has a troubled past, nor did I say he was trouble. I said he needed guidance. Someone in his corner to keep him on the path he is currently on. Part of growing is learning from mistakes. So far he seems to be doing that. However, big deal or not, he can't exactly be a leader if he isn't on the field now can he? Which is why who he is off the field plays just as important a role. I agree with you on Lewis. He played with ERIC Berry FYI.
  11. actually Ravens have blown the Pats out twice in the past 5 or so years at Gillette in the playoffs. I think that might have been what he meant
  12. I don't remember Cody ever doing that maybe I wasn't watching close enough. The ONLY play I rememer Cody for is the hit on Jamal Charles.
  13. The only reason they view us as a rival and generally dislike us is because (correct me if I'm wrong) we're the only team in the Brady era to go into Gillette and beat them in the playoffs and we always play them close. They way our teams are designed, we are the perfect team to beat them and each game either ends on controversy or comes down to one crucial play. I went to school in the New England area and I can tell you the only team they hate more is the Giants. The fans are errogant and don't respect the rest of their divison because they usually beat them
  14. @abz I'm glad you brought that up. I think the key to the defense this season will be the play of Williams and Jernigan. Quite frankly, Williams is a beast. I've never seen a player in the NFL physically dominate other players as Williams does. He straight pushes Centers and tackles into the backfield! Jernigan on the otherhand can also hold his own on the run, but started to excel at getting the backfield at the end of last season. I'm super excited to see all the new pieces in action. I'm like a kid that just got new toys
  15. I get what you're saying, but Forsett also bounced around before finding a home last year and was a stud. Wes Welker, and Josh Gordon went undrafted; Antonio Brown in the 6th. They (along with others in the same boat) played extremely well once given the opportunity. Not saying this is be the case, but you never know.
  16. He also lost snaps to Jacoby. I don't see that happening this season. I see him getting plenty of red zone targets this season. Brown and Perriman on the outside with SSS in the slot could be a dangerous passing option.
  17. I doubt it with the amount of injuries we had last year. Though that's not likely to happen, you have to be cautious. We had Safeties playing CB last season. Can never have enough DBs, especially since one of the young guys is already injured
  18. great add. welcome home Kyle
  19. Ihedigdo made the pro bowl with the Lions. He was a little better than a band-aid. We just needed to get value out of our first round pick because like you said, they both played SS. However, Ihedigdo despite his lack of starting experience, was clearly a leader on the field for us. But perhaps you are right, perhaps Hill and Lewis will be a better influence. Although, I would question Hill because he still needs some guidance himself (off the field at least)
  20. wow...do you even watch Ravens games? "old man Daryl"?? He has clearly been one of the best players on the field for us the past two seasons. He has been one of the best underrated LBs in the league. He just happened to play most of his career on a team which no one (includeing jags fans) wanted to watch. I could go on discrediting your post but just know that there is no way Brown beats him out. With the retiring of Boreland and Willis we argueable have the best LB group in the league. C'mon man!
  21. I like elam, but there can be no more excuses. He used them all. This is his last year to show up. Remember jimmy took about til year 4 to break out. Maybe a light bulb will click, though I'm sure that is just wishful thinking
  22. Hill's natural position is free safety, and kendrick lewis is strong safety. I think you have it backwards. Unless someone shows out in the preseason, those two are likely the starters for the start of the year at least. I'm rooting for Brooks. ACL injuries usually take a year or so unless you're adrian Peterson. I expect him to take the reigns next year and be a tremendous asset
  23. Arrington struggled on the outside for the Pats, but was a force in the slot. Especially in the playoffs. It's exactly the role he could play for us. To me it's a smart move. I doubt we will have mass casualties at the CB position like last year, that was a fluke. However, Smith and Webb do have a history of injury and having a a few solid backups will not hurt in the least bit
  24. It absolutely makes sense. I thought we'd make a play on Denard but he was snatched up quickly. We didn't draft cb early because we have quality starters. We just need depth in the event every single cb gets hurt again. Arrington would be a solid nickel.
  25. I like where things are headed. Man, if the caps and wiz can find a way to close things out it could set up to be a very good sports year for the DMV. Ravens look like the class of the AFC North, not to mention Maryland bball is likely to be ranked preseason #1 with the signing of the Duke kid. This year will bring a lot of excitement
