  1. The quotes from the two tradeable receivers might be torn out of context, but based on those, please not Roddy White! Seems to have attitude issues. We don't need no primadonna. It's not comparable to the talk SSS has, because if you look at him, sure, he makes plenty catches, but when he doesn't he blocks like if his life depended on it, probably screaming "I'm Marshall Yanda!" in his head. Blocking is important and those players on the field that aren't currently carrying the ball need to learn to do it well and with pleasure. Good blocks are what helps yardage. Tate has a better attitude (based on the quotes in the article only), Ravens hate losing too. However, I doubt either will happen.

Timmy Jernigan might have fallen to Carl Davis for two reasons:

    1. Durability - he has had some issues with minor injuries

    2. Discipline - the late hit on Derek Carr might have lost us the game. And it wasn't accidental or an oops error, that was deliberate.

Apart from that, I like Timmy a lot. It's good that he has solid competition, it will make him earn his position in the line-up.

The hit on Carr is a very good point. It was VERY late. Coach may have been rather ticked off at him. This may be a punishment, with the hope that it inspires him when he returns to starting.

  2. This is not a knock against Dennis.  He's a great player, and has had great moments here in Baltimore.  I met him at a charity event and I like him on and off the field.

BUT ... he is holding onto a valuable roster spot, and it is probably time to put him in IR and look at next year.  We have three pretty good tight ends, and not enough wideouts.  Put Pitta on IR and get a deep-threat receiver.

Pitta is not on the 53 man roster. He is on the Reserve/Physically unable to perform.

"A player who finishes the preseason still on the PUP list can then be placed on the regular-season PUP list. Such players must sit out the first six games their team plays. At that point, teams have a five-week window in which to allow the player to begin practicing; from the day the player begins practicing, teams have an additional 21-day window in which to decide whether to activate the player to the 53-man roster. If either of those deadlines pass, the player must remain on the PUP list for the remainder of the season"

  3. I was kinda dreaming this situation would help lure JJ out of retirement - after all, he's already with the Ravens again :) But yeah... dreaming :)

That is not a far fetched dream. And still possible maybe when Taliaferro returns (dump a RB form the roster). J.J could be the run stopper that we may still need. Keep Upshaw and Dumervil on one side, and Babin and J.J. on the other.

  4. Lets remember it's one year at veteran minimum. If it does not work out, they get rid of him.

He spent last year in Rex Ryans system which is similar to what Pees uses as far as schemes and probably terminology. He also attended a training camp this year so he wasn't sitting home for several months not playing. He can play this Sunday if needed, as the other options might have to get up to speed and playing shape.

  5. If we get 4-6 sacks out of him, it will have been a good move, as i expect Upshaw to really be a 3 down OLBer now....and Babin to come in, on certain packages.....

That's possible with Upshaw, but he goes in and out with Dumervil, who it must be assumed can't set the edge on runs. While missing Suggs for his pass rushing ability stands in the forefront for attention....we are losing an edge setter for the run and if it's always 3rd and 1, due to not stopping the run, then we are in trouble. So IMO we need a run stopper just as bad, and putting Upshaw in Suggs place opens the other side. I'm sure the coaches are more aware of that than I am, I'm curious how the deal with it.

  6. I kinda thought he was already a starter...

    2.smith

    3.Kamar

    4.Brown

    5.Campanero

They're not just going to hand it to him. He has to earn it. This time last year C.J. Mosley was not listed as a starter. He earned it during camp and preseason. This time last year Josh Bynes was considered the starter. It's just not Harbaughs style to call a rookie the starter this time of the year.

  7. This is Ozzie and The Ravens sticking to their word. The best pick available. There was not a tackle worthy of the 17th pick avaialable. Ha Ha Dix would have been a good choice, but Mosely is an excellent choice FOR THE FUTURE, not just this year. We need a MLB to be a leader in this defense. Smith is really only here for one, maybe two seasons. Three years from now, this choice will look brilliant.
