My opinion is that Harbaugh is just trying to sound good for a story here. I'm no insider....but I believe Boldin leaving was part of the house cleaning John did right after the Superbowl. He didn't want Reed, Pollard (only saved 100k in cap space dumping Pollard), and Boldin back due to the rebellion that was started during the 2012 bye week.

Pollard was cut because he sucks...thats why he was cut from Tennessee and why he hasn't played the last 2 seasons....A safety that can't cover has no place in the NFL. Reed was a free agent and wasn't worth anywhere near what the Texans paid him.

Pollard was never brought in for pass coverage...he was always a run stopper.....He led the team in tackles that year and only played in 13 games. Reed most certainly was over paid....but an offer was never really made by the Ravens for him to even consider.

  2. I don't think its smart at all not to name West the starter, its all about mind set for players......I don't agree any player should go into every week not knowing, name him the starter until further notice, should be his job to lose....He ran hard, played hard, and turned the game offensively in the 2nd half.....Dixon needs to get into real game shape, and if he proves he is the better back, then go from there, but until then he hasn't played a real NFL game yet.....JMO......

Why "name" a starter?? The coach and the players know what's going to happen. No need to tell the other team what's happening, Just to appease us fans and fantasy owners.

  3. If you look at the picture of Smith in Ramseys face, I don't fault Ramsey too much. The game was over, so should be the trash talking. What happens on the field should be over once 0:00 is on the clock in the 4th quarter. If the roles were reversed I would be happy that our guy didn't take the bait after the game and get into a fight that would end with a fine and or suspension.

Then he only answered the reporters questions when asked....yes he may have gone a bit over board with the old man reference.....but if the roles were reversed, I'd rather a Raven not get into a fight and only answer the questions.

Smith had a hell of a game and was a very important part of the win, he uses his game attitude to get himself in game mood, and that's fine with me. But he didn't need to get into Ramseys face after the game.

  4. I was at practice yesterday, and may I say The Ravens make the experience of visiting very nice. Air conditioned buses that pick you up at the nearby park, free water, covered bleachers, etc.

My ,means nothing, notes from practice were:
1)Zuttah had some high snaps early on (he had some in the game last week) and that's a bit of a concern.

    2) Tucker was dressed, but obviously given the day off from kicking, as Wil Lutz did all the kicking. (field goals, onside practice).

    3) Wallace looked great !!

    4) With the exception of the interception mentioned above at the end, the offense moved the ball at ease on the secondary yesterday. Flacco's timing with the TE's and WR's was dead on.

    5) Suggs wanted in on the O VS D badly and was pulled back. This tells me (once again means nothing) the he must feel great and the team is just wisely taking it slow.

  5. There are so many people on here that really don't understand football. Ignoring the O-line is foolish. Have you forgotten how Joe got hurt?? Let me remind your short memories. Monroe hurt......and a guy who obviously should not be a LT getting pushed back on every play when the odds caught up with him and he rolled on Flaccos leg. Even if they decide to give Monroe another try, does anyone remember a guy wearing number 75 playing guard his rookie year??

There will be a quality pass rusher, DT, or MLB still available with our first pick tonight. Whomever it is, at least one analyst will say "this guy could have went in the late first round".

  6. This is a "we have a lot to prove" year after a 5-11 season and we are picking up a lot of guys who feel they have something to prove. Of course, Wallace and Richardson, both who feel like they can get the last laugh in Baltimore and show people they really are the great players that people professed they would be. Same is true of Weddle who felt disrespected in San Diego and has a chip to prove he is still a pro bowl guy. We have some people on the roster who have something to prove starting with some injured players who want to prove they are still productive including Suggs, Will Davis and Forsett. If all these guys turn in a season equivalent to their talent levels, we could have an amazing season. As far as Hargreaves goes, the only way I wouldn't take him at 6 is if Ramsey is there. I am not sold on Bosa (would rather have Buckner) but I saw mock drafts that had Ramsey at 5. If he is there at 5, we should have made a move at 4 to get him. The Jaguars don't want a QB and if Dallas does, they could trade out with us and be a win-win. I know Bisciotti said we wont move up but this is the "season for lies" as teams try to confuse each other and fake each other out but I no longer believe anyone associated with a football team after February1.

I don't see them trading up. They just won't give up picks to move up. They will get a quality player at 6 and another at 36. One thing to remember is that 36th pick. It's only about 8-10 spots off from where they have picked in the 1st round the last several years. They should get two real good players this year.

  7. I would say, before people started bashing Ozzie (even though some people got a head start on me) these are camp bodies. To fill up three practice fields with 11 people going on both sides requires the Ravens have enough people in all the positions to be able to adequately evaluate the talent. Not everybody signed by the Ravens are going to start or even make the team. These guys know the system and can be great camp fillers allowing the coaches to do their thing. Sometimes it is hard to believe that people who follow the team so closely would be so anxious to criticize and complain when they clearly have limited knowledge of how things work.

Amen..... at some point they will have 90 men on the roster. Why not give him one more camp to see what he has.

  8. I'm surprised Mallet chose the Ravens over Cinci.  Why wouldn't he go to a team that's guaranteed a playoff spot?

My guess is he's thinking Joe won't be ready (maybe our front office is as well) to go at the start of the year. Then he can start the season with a whole camp under his belt as our starter. This would be a chance to revive his career and get a decent contract from someone else in 2017 at starter pay. He knows Dalton will be back in 2016 for Cincy. If you think about it , this deal is all about 2016 in The Ravens eyes and his eyes.

  9. NFL Referees work for a billion dollar employer but only work part time. They should be full time NFL employees. They should get Monday off during the season but report to New York Tues-Thursday for film study, rule reviews and etc. Friday or Saturday should be travel day. The schedule would need adjusted for Thursday and Monday game crews , but can be done. During the off season they should be involved with rule changes and studying film , rules. During the off season other training should be attended weekly such as medical (IE concussion) awareness.

  10. If we waste another 1st Round pick on a WR I will vomit. There is talent to be had in the 2nd and 3rd. Look at the Steelers recipie, they have great WR's. They draft guys with speed, hands, and work ethic. The route running might not be perfect, they might be undersized, but with NFL coaching and pass friendly rules they can become studs. Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown, Nate Washington, Martavis Bryant. Our biggest issue is Flacco's contract. Then it is Trestman play-calling/lack of identity, The lack of a 3 or 4 man rush, overpaying corners who are not producing, and Dean Pees in the 2 minute drill.

If "our biggest issue is Flacco's contract" then how come Flaccos cap hit in 2015 is $14,500,000 and Rothlisbergers is 17,245,000 ??  Stop being like the rest of the country and blaming Flaccos contract. His contract will be reworked this off season. His cap hit the first three years of the deal were never bad compared to other QB's

  11. Over the the intercom.   Ross come to my office…………… Harbaugh……….. "Your cut" ." Best of luck"

Pee's come to my office……………Harbaugh………..Your fired". "Best of luck". "See finance and pickup your check".

Coach Harbaugh come to my office………Ozzie……".I've just been informed that we've got to let you go". "It's been a great run and we did win a ring".  "Best of luck"…………."Steve has a parting gift for yay".

Ozzie Newsome to the boardroom…………. Steve………………"What in the hell happened this year ?

"Oh never mind, my lying eye's must have deceived me…………( Security to the office)………………..Steve……………"Get him outta here………………Steve ………………"Say hello to my little friends"……………….

Steve………………"Ayye Eric". ……….Pause……….. "You wantta Job" …………………..Eric…………………"Sure Steve"………………" Okay dinn", "You call me tomorrow"…………………..Eric………………."Thanks Steve"……

This is a real possibility. At some point , as much as we love Ozzie...the lack of production (or even being on the field) by our first, second and third round picks has to be dealt with. Outside of Mosely and, Osemele the picks are failing. Cody, Elam, Brooks, Kindle,  A.Brown, Reid, Pierce, Oher all flops. Upshaw is decent but not second round quality.

  12. Why not just put Perriman on IR, by the time he ever (if ever) gets on the field, he will have no experience, or be in game shape. He's been out since July, and the season's just about 1/2 over anyway.

No kidding....why in the world are they keeping him on the roster. Why even risk it now. What's their plan?? Play him week 14 and get him hurt again???  Shelf him for the season and try a do over next year.

  13. We would still have the same lack of talent next year when he retires. But if he's worth a pick to somebody at the trade deadline this year that's one more building block to work with next year. Again, nobody really cares what he does this year in the Ravens losing effort. 150 receiving yards is meaningless when the team still loses. We can lose with Aiken at least as effectively. And without Smith we get to see more of what, if anything, these other guys can do, and see if they ought to be Ravens going forward. Which right now is the best we can hope for -- finding another piece to build around.

Knowing that he won't be playing next year, a team is not going to give more than a 6th (if that) rounder for him. No one will give up a 5th round or better pick for a player who will only play 10 games then retire.
