I admit, I have not read the comments before this post so I'll just share my thoughts as I typically do: 1.) I like Hue Jackson and I still think that with time and some additional talent, the team can ultimately turn things around. Maybe not this year but going forward. With that said, I have absolutely no idea what the hell he was thinking pulling Kessler out of the game. This has nothing to do with McCown's performance either - if he had played well I would still be saying the same thing. What is the honest reasoning for doing that? I don't buy his "we needed a spark" comment - the team just isn't playing well overall, period. Let Kessler play, he's actually not playing THAT bad overall so let him have this season to see what he can do. The team was also only freaking down 13-7 at that point too - yes, I highly doubt the Browns would have won anyways but still - let him play it out. Stupid move IMO. 2.) I'll give the defense some credit because they hung in there as long as they could and while it seems shocking to hear this, it was probably their best overall performance of the season. They can only do so much with what they got and I hope they can find a way to sign Collins long-term because he looks like he could be a big difference maker and someone to build around. 3.) Running game, anybody? They forgot to bring that apparently. 4.) Mike Wallace is fast - sick fast. I always thought it was a steal getting him, they need to get him the ball more. There's really no reason they shouldn't be lighting up some numbers with him and Smith as your 1-2 punch at WR. 5.) Haden is back to full form IMO. Overall, he covered very well and made some great plays. That is at least a positive sign on the defensive side of the ball. Good game to you all and best of luck the rest of the season.

The Browns defense is bad - there is no sugar-coating it. Their offense has moments, they just can't put it together consistently for an entire game. They have the ability to score points but they can't stop their opponent unfortunately.

They're not "bad" in the traditional sense. They have some talent, mainly on the offensive side of the ball. They just have a LOT of 1st/2nd year players and are a very young team. I don't really think coaching has much to do with it for right now, just a young and inexperienced team. Hopefully, some playing time will just eventually help them get better. I wouldn't say Haden has "lost it," but he hasn't been himself almost all season because he's not 100%. He played well last week against the Cowboys and I expect he'll continue to trend upward. The rest of your statement however is pretty spot on.

Same here. He hasn't played really, really well but he hasn't played too bad either. Only 1 INT so far through six starts. But again, only five TDs. He's looking solid though and I think he deserves the whole season.

I would agree with almost all of this but really, Kessler has had very little to work with. He hasn't played phenomenally well but really he hasn't been too bad, along with a lot of the offense. The defense, minus 3 Joe Haden games, has been just been awful. Their offense isn't good enough to win in a shootout or keep up. At times, they get stagnant on offense but I really think part of that is just time on the field.

The right choice IMO. McCown, while he has played well, is not our future. Kessler, while still undecided, could be. It's only fair to let him play and see how he does. As I stated before, he really has played well overall given the insane circumstances of this season.

Same to you Nurple! I second your thoughts, no matter the result I don't like seeing folks being injured and just ask for a good game.

Well there's no chance of him playing unless we feel like playing QB Roulette again like we did the first few weeks.

Just because Cleveland is 0-9 doesn't mean I would shy away from this forum - come on now, you all know me better than that. So here we are with Week 10: ugh. I knew Cleveland would not be good this year but man, I didn't see 0-9. The positives at least are on offense: they're young but they haven't played THAT bad overall. Cody Kessler has been pleasantly decent so far and I think starting him over a healthy McCown is the right choice. Kessler is your potential future, you know what you have in McCown. Pryor, Coleman, Barnidge, Crowell are really developing into decent players but it's tough when the OL is in such bad shape from injury. They really have done a overall good job IMO given the circumstances so here's hoping they continue that trend. The defense: [Sheesh], where do I begin? Again, knew they'd be the weak point but man they look awful and I think that's being generous. It's been hard to really find one bright point there so far and at the moment I can't think of one. They need some serious improvement for sure. I think the Browns could have 2, maybe 3 wins if their defense wasn't so freaking terrible. With it being a Thursday night game, anything is possible. Especially being a divisional matchup. I still think the Ravens have the edge but here's hoping I'm wrong. =]

I think to a degree - yes you are right. But that's what he was supposed to be last year and he got hurt. I don't necessarily think he shouldn't be the starting QB going forward this season but I just wish for once a team would be honest and just admit that a season is basically a rebuild season and it then gives you the leeway to let a Cody Kessler or someone else go out there and give it a shot. You just never know what you're going to have unless you let them play. I think McCown has been a great leader for them but at some point you have to make the decision to move on because he is not your long-term answer.

I'm going to assume it's his W/L record, which isn't all that wonderful. I know you shouldn't necessarily be judged by that but it is what it is. I'm not real certain of his injury history and if that plays into it at all either. The verdict is still out on RG3 IMO but my guess is Hue felt he could give him some quality seasons if he were back to 100% health; which he was. McCown is not the long-term answer obviously. I don't think anyone really knows who is the answer but I wonder about the Kessler option and whether or not they should just give him a chance and see what happens. It's the never-ending circle because no team wants to admit that it's a rebuilding year and you "want to play your best personnel," yet we all know what this season is for the Browns.

The Good: Will give the Ravens defense props - they came out and did what they needed to do for three quarters after an awful first quarter on their part. I'm also giving a consolation "good" to Josh McCown - I believe his injury is worse than it's being advertised right now and hopefully I am wrong but either way he went out there and did what he could and deserves something for that. The Bad: The Browns offense overall after the first quarter - just flat. It's a very young team and my expectations for them this season are low at best as I know it's going to be a long year but they still looked very bad at times and made some very stupid mistakes in the penalty game that really hurt their limited great chances to get points on the board. The Ugly: The Pryor call at the end. I'll be the first to say that the penalty did not cost the Browns the game; if they had played with any shred of decency in the last three quarters of the game then they wouldn't have been in that position to begin with. With that said though, that was such an awful call on the refs and it's freaking clear as day that Pryor was not taunting. Refs are human beings and I understand that they make bad calls but seriously - this call was just unreal. Pryor and the Browns have ever right to be pissed about it but perhaps they will use that going forward to play better for 60 minutes instead of 18. Side note: congrats on the win. The Ravens deserved it, they never let it get too out of hand and they fought back. That is what makes a great team - never giving up.

I'm not even sure what to expect this game in all honesty. McCown played the Ravens pretty well last year but yeesh - this is a young and potentially bad Browns team. It's hard to be too rough on them, a lot of them played their first ever NFL game last week. It's gonna take a bit to get things right.

Hope for a good, competitive game tonight with no (additional) injuries for both teams. I'll post my thoughts probably tomorrow after the game but we'll see - feeling like crud.
