  1. Just like we thought this year would be offense heavy but it again looks like the ravens will draft late round wide receivers that will be out of the league in two years . harper, Moore , mellete ( probably gone after this year )

And correct me if wrong but wasn't jernigan the guy that couldn't finish the national championship game because of poor conditioning?

I thought he couldn't finish because he was ill.

  2. Overall I am happy with the draft. Sucks Cleveland grabbed Terrance West before he could fall to us but I am a man of my word. Going to buy a West Browns jersey. Told myself as long as it isn't Pittsburgh, New England or Philly, I will buy one.

Let me research this Gilmore kid, never heard of him.

I had to research him too. Once you do, you'll find out why we selected him. Might of been a bit early, but not a huge reach. He's big and strong (as he plays to his size). He has great hands and is a great blocker. His speed is average for the tight ends in this draft. So he's not a burner for a TE, but he's not slow. He needs to work on his route running. But that's easier to fix than catching the ball. This pick was all about potential. He has the potential to be a great #2 TE and a huge redzone target.

I don't see what everyone sees in West. But there is still a huge amount of offensive talent in this draft. So many guys that could become potential starters down the road. Fortunately we don't need them to start right away. My top WR prospect right now is Ellington despite his small size. He really seens NFL reasy.

  3. The first 3 picks were all good value and BPA, I get that. Then like in almost every draft Ozzie has his obligatory head-scratcher of a pick. Think Jah Reid and Gino Gradkowski.

Crockett Gilmore... Who? Some jabroni hayseed out of Podunk, Mountaintown with probably the worst athleticism at the position in the entire draft. Where do we find these guys? Did our scouting consist of looking at videos of him chucking mountain goats taken from his neighbors deer cam? He is a 6th round prospect with the ceiling of a blocking #3 TE, and there is no guarantee that he will even be that. Not what you really want out of a 3rd round pick. In a draft this deep this is the best there is at the end of the 3rd?

Why would you talk about a player like that that you obviously have no idea about? First he was projected in the 4th. Second he is a great blocker and has great hands. It might of been a little early for him, but another team might of wanted him late 3rd or early 4th. They probably covet his skills and he may turn out better than we think. He has the talent to be a talented #2 TE to go with Pitta in the future.

  4. Its not a matter of choosing to walk away from football (again), its THE way he's going about it. "Im gonna retire...no, I wanna play and Im in the best shape of my life...I performed pathetically so I just wanna retire again". Ha, okay dude. Buh bye!

Maybe he wanted to come back and see if he had the desire and realized he didn't.

  5. When did he finish his degree? Last week? I doubt it. And how exactly do you know he's busy with raising his kids when he's divorced and living in another state?

It's been reported that he was finishing his degree and busy with his kids? It's not he's been sitting around doing nothing. He probably lept in shape, but it's hard to keep in NFL shape with everything.

  6. Well whether he was late or not is debateable (see today's LFW article) so I can't comment on that.

Did he quit during the condtioning test? Or did he just not pass it in time? I seriously don't know. If he quit during it, then I'll fully agree with you. But if he just didn't pass it, then he should be in OTAs at the very least.

He quit, its a fact. Thats what people are harping on him for.

  7. What kind of logic is that? JJ had other "obligations" during OTA's. He chose not to train and instead do a TV show that kept him from training and rightfully so he wasn't in shape. What kept "Ro" from training and getting ready for his conditioning test? He wasn't working, he didn't do anything.

Also he finished his degree, so he had other obligations as well.

  8. I don't think he'll underachieve, but I don't think he is, nor ever will be, a pro-bowl/top-5 talent like Jake Long or some other tackles are/have been.  His best years in the league are already behind him, so whoever gets him will be getting what's left of his prime and the downslope of his career.  Which is part of the reason I think this is dragging out - the front office will just not pay him a top salary and run the risk of his play declining significantly at the tail end of it ala Jamal Brown or Marcus McNeill.

I disagree that his best football is behind him. I think with the way he is, he'll continue to get better. I think his best years are ahead of him. I also think it will be a mistake not to resign him.
