  1. true..im just saying though on average out of 8 picks 5-6 will not really have too much of an impact on the organization.

so thats why with perriman i have singled him out as one of the guys who will not really live up to his first round status,

You writing a guy off with out giving him a chance. You don't mention any of his positive traits. You're usually a debby downer around here, you don't have many positive things to say about the team. Most picks for any teams don't pan out. The truth is, we've been more successful with our picks than most teams.

  2. Yeah, I've said before that I think the most important aspect of any player in the NFL is their mental makeup, although athleticism is extremely important. I believe drive and effort are the true keys to success in anything, but you can see this manifest in a player like Ray Lewis. He epitomizes this, and as discussed in another thread, a guy like Antonio Brown is so successful because of his work ethic and effort.

I also heard he adsorbs information like a sponge. With his intelligence, work ethic (going off of what I hear), talent, and the people around him willing to teach him (Engram and SSS); I think he may become a very good WR.

  3. This isn't an elam situation. I believe perriman can be a stud..but i just worry about combine warriors. Perriman wasn't going to be a first round pick until he destroyed the workout.

I guess the fact we got Maxx williams makes this easy..i honestly wouldn't have been upset with Williams in the first.

so we got two guys..one who I'm certain is a pro bowl TE the other a guy that maybe just might be the guy we needed for a while

Actually the Ravens FO said they had him pegged as a first rounder before the combine. They said the world noticed what they noticed after the combine.

  4. So the Ravens have gone from not enough weapons on offense to possibly too many, a good problem to have mind you. But it's now a situation where some touch decisions have to be made before the season itself starts. I'm going to guess that the Ravens only have 5 receivers on gameday.

Safe bets: There are 3 receivers that'd really have to screw up to lose their their active spots: SSS, Perriman, and Aiken.

Marlon Brown: A good number 3 guy and quality depth. However, he does tend to get outshined by more aggressive receivers. There's a reason he wasn't used as often last season. Camp and Aiken just proved that they should be in the rotation more than him. He has the inside tract for being kept as one of the main group of active receivers, but it's by no means safe.

Campanaro: Very talented slot receiver that did seem to be on the same page as Flacco last season. But there's one little problem, he has a hard time staying healthy. All the talent in the world doesn't help if you can't regularly be in the game.

Waller: He's got two things in his favor: he was just picked in the draft, and his size. He could be intriguing if he shows that he can out play guys on jump balls in the endzone. There aren't many corners that can beat a 6'6" receiver for a jump ball.

Wildcards: Then you have the two wildcards in the mix. First is Butler, who got hurt during preseason last year. He has respectable size, speed, and will fight for the ball. He could be everything the Ravens wanted from Doss. Then there's DeAndre Carter, a guy who seems to be built in the same mold as SSS. I remember one quote about him (from his Coach I think) saying that he's a 5'8" receiver that plays like he's 6'5". He's also a good special teams player, as he was a gunner for the punting squad. And he could potentially be a solid returner.

The coaches could be in store for a very tough decision or two come the start of the season.

Another thing you forgot to mention in Waller favor is his soft hands. I think he was a steal in the 6th.

  5. I was starting to wonder what had happened to Ozzie after taking two straight weapons, but all normalcy resumes with one of his specials.

Welcome aboard Carl Davis, a fantastic value player with huge upside at a position we tend to develop really well. Better yet, we get him out of that ugly black and gold.

I'm excited to see what he can do with the absolute glut of stars we have around him.

Iowa black and gold isn't that ugly ;) Excited to have him as an Iowa fan!

  6. He's definitely a hands catch kind of guy unlike Torrey was. He plucks it out of the air instead of body catching. He also seems to high point the ball. Because of that I think his drops are fixable. I think Trestman could get a lot out of him. I was kind of meh on the pick at first, but the more I learn about him the more excited I am getting.

  7. I expect the next 2-4 years with another Cam Cameron.  The Ravens hit with Jim Caldwell and Gary Kubiak... I just feel a miss coming on this time.  Still the pass attack can't get get much worse than it was this past season.  We never came through in the clutch in big games.  I also don't see the run game remaining the same and I don't think Justin Forset has it in himself for another 1,000+ rushing yard season.  He will get a nice contract then get hurt or just not produce like he did this past season.

Bottle half empty is how I am looking at this offseason. I still have some hope as a fan things will get done right and be successful in 15/16 campaign.

Jim Caldwell wasn't a hit, he wasn't a very good OC.

  8. Yup, that's why we take him off the board at 99 and pick up Gillmore with 134.

Some other team could of liked Crockett and picked him before us. I'd rather have the skill set of Crockett over Desir who I'm thinking the Ravens don't like as much as the fans.

  9. So, what pick did everybody hate? What a people whining about? I just don't know why there are 21 pages of venting when we killed this draft.

I LOVED this draft but then again I am a defensive minded fan. I would of liked a Tackle but I will take a future Center/Guard John Urschel.

I will say I am not crazy about Crockett Gilmore and I wish we had gotten Terrance West there (dang Browns moving up!) but I also think we should of taking Brandon Thomas there. But like they say, Ozzie knows best, hope to see Gilmore prove me wrong.

See I love the Crockett pick after learning about him. A great blocker and a possible redzone threat. He perfectly fits Kubiacks system and sounds like a Kubiack pick. He could help the offense a lot this year and beyond.

  10. Man I absolutely love this draft. I mean I was disappointed in some draft picks at first, but I see more potential starters in this draft than we've ever had. I honestly see every draft pick being a very good starter in future, except the QB we drafted of course. But even he seems extremely talented. This looks like the best draft we've had in a long time looking at pure talent.

  11. Dude we were "all set" last year too. Boldin was gone but Pitta was going to pick up the slack. Then he got hurt. Then JJ got hurt. We got so lucky that a undrafted rookie was as good as he was in Marlon Brown or we might have had a losing season. We had to give up picks to bring the O line up to even poor play. We had the worst running game ever in the NFL since the 2000 season (I forget what team it was) and now Rice is likely suspended for no one knows how long. And we've got Pierce (not an every down back nor a receiving back) and Forsett - yeah.

Wagner was crap when he came in for Oher last year. To the point that people were like "I never thought I'd say this, but I hope Oher isn't seriously injured". That is how badly he played and that is who you're relying on?

Please. This was the draft to go offense. The talent was there and it was deep. Next year's crop is slim pickins.

Dude we have much better depth this year. JJ won't hurt us as much if he gets hurt. We have Torrey Smith, Steve Smith, Jacoby Jones, Marlon Brown, and maybe Mallette will get to show something after a decent preseason last year. We have two capable starters at TE instead of only one like last year. Wagner was a rookie last year, and I'm sure a year under his belt would help a lot. I was mad about Mosely at first, but than realized the talent was too much to pass up. Everyone but Raven fans are raving about our draft. I had fan of other teams message me that they are jealous of our draft. Not to mention, I really believe Crocket is a very underrated talent. He has the potential to be a beast in Kubiaks system.

  12. We heard this last year and that's why we went 8 and 8.

we are also better than last year before the draft. Smith has a lot left in the tank for this year and even last year. Imo, he's our #1 this year. Owen Daniels is way better than Dickson or Clark. Hopefully KO will be healthy and back to form. And I believe in Wagner. To me, the draft is just a luxury this year.
