Sounds like the Chragers are trying to go against the norm like they usually do and Bosa wants a contract like any other top 5 pick would get. Not sure why everyone is jumping on Bosa when the Chargers have proven they are a terrible organization that really don't care about their players.
One thing no one seems to be bringing up is age. Would you really want to keep a injury prone Pitta (30) over Juice (25). Ben Watson is 35, how many more years is he going to play. You lose those guys and you have Crockett, Williams, and Boyle. I love all 3, but Williams (even though he is young) hasn't shown enough to depend on him in the future. Boyle has to prove he can stay out of trouble. There is no way I would release a proven and reliable versatile player like Juice with those future question marks. As for Waller, I'd probably through his on the PS to learn his new position.

He double caught a single time with the pass being behind him, the rest were hands catches. I'm pretty sure the level headed fans will give him time to develop.

You are honestly telling me this guy is as good as Spence? ? Seriously?? I'm saving this thread in my iPad for when this guy busts like Upshaw so peeps can't pretend to not of applauded the pick. I said Upshaw and Elam were busts now where are all their lovers at?? Ravens are making a spoof version of the 2000 team titled "In Ozzie we Bust" lmao
I don't care if this gets me in trouble, but you're the absolute worst calling one of our players a loser. If you think he's a loser, I think you're blind if you watched his tape. He has a lot of potential. He was a very good pass rusher, he can cover (which Spence can't ), and he's solid against the run (which Spence isn't). He was inching his way to first round talk. He could definitely be better than Spence.

I don't think the issue is if he'll ever play again it's more about when. I think if we could trade our third and a late round pick to get back into the end of the second and get him or if he falls to our third pick we should draft him. There's just so much potential.
There's still a chance he never plays again. I honestly wouldn't pick him until the 4th round.

Where is Williams in this? Also I wouldn't say Gilmore is made of glass (I'm assuming that's who you are talking about).
1 hour ago, berad said:I got that impression, as well. Although they tackled about a LB/S hybrid type player who could play either level of the field. Hill would have been that player for us, he would have found his way on the field even with Weddle and Webb.
Potential something to look for in the draft.
It feels like Myles Jack would be perfect for us in that regards, but he'll probably be drafted before us.
Tunsil I'd jump for joy if we picked him. Stanley I'd let out a sigh lol.

Most fans seem to think it was a hack reporter disseminating the story. I don't and think the Ravens gambled on a speedster and combine influenced work out/pro day. It shouldn't take that long to get over that reported injury. It's truly not a good look. It would seem that he had far more extensive damage then we've heard or have been lead to believe. I certainly wouldn't put all my eggs in that basket he's carrying. The Ravens will look real dumb if they don't take another viable receiver that has at least 2nd round merits. Waiting for day three will only add enormous scrutiny and the chatter will not be of the kind nature. We aren't the only ones looking @ the failed position for far too long. They may say he's being saved from re-injury. Really?
I mean none of us are doctors, but from what I heard a PCL injury can take a long time to fully recover from.
21 hours ago, BmoreBird22 said:He actually already shows natural hands and while he isn't nuanced in route running, he showed an understanding of head fakes and explosion in and out of breaks. He's extremely cerebral and should be able to grasp the position.
If you're drafting him, it's based on the upside he has, which is insane.
He has a lot of upside, but I would never take a player who's only played a position for a single year in the first round. He's heavily reliant upon speed and athletic ability over skill. His route running needs major work. He's only run deep and short routes, he hasn't run the whole route tree. He's more of a work in progress which I certainly wouldn't take in the first or second round. We've seen players like him before. He could turn into a playmaking WR or just another gadget player.
18 hours ago, BmoreBird22 said:Apparently he's generating first round steam, so we'll see
I question the decision makers of any team that takes him in the first. Ya he is extremely talented, but so are a lot of other player. He's extremely raw. He's only played WR for a single year. His hands and route running are far from developed. Even in the third round it might be a reach.

I've seen the chargers get treadwell at 3. I've seen tunsil fall to the ravens lots of times. I prefer ontheclock with my own board I've adjusted.
All of them are terrible to the point of where I can't stand using any draft simulators. Haven't been able to find a decent one yet.

the more I watch Jaylon Smith , the more I am wowed by him,
well spoken, brother(rod smith) nfl , disciplined, hard worker
so my question is this, simple
what round?
he may miss his rookie year,
what is the separation between him and jacks ?
1. what separates him from jacks
2. who would you prefer
3. again, what round.
thanks.
Missing his rookie year is almost a certainty. he may miss more and has a chance of never playing. I wouldn't take him before round 4 and that might be too high. A lot of teams have taken him off their boards completely.
14 hours ago, Ravens4Real said:One of them still has to cover the TE. It doesn't matter if they have a SS, FS, or whatever designation you want them to have.
Yes, every team has a SS that has to cover TE's that are bigger than them. But most SS are much bigger than Weddle and Webb because they are both in the FS mild and not SS. It's like you are telling me that smaller FS's would cover Gronk as well as Chancellor would be able to because he's an all pro.
I mean I'm not sure how much easier I can say what I'm saying so that you'd comprehend it. May be just leave it go and stop responding.
Actually TEs are covered by a combination of both safeties and linebackers. I believe we had Orr covering them at times and he did a decent job. I believe it's rare for a team to only put a SS on the TE all game.

I'd honestly rather have Doctson.

I'm not sure how updated it is, but Spotrac has us almost at 12 million. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/
You get arrested if you get pulled over with a suspended license. I don't believe the cop has a choice in that, not to mention he's just doing his job lol. Either way, it's a none issue. Just TMZ making a big deal out of nothing like usual.
Just received a citation and released right away, seems small.
I wasn't that high on Matthews just because hands in traffic were a concern, and he showed that to be a concern in the NFL. He did have great routes and he was very nuanced, but even in the NFL, he struggled to get open from man coverage just because he simply lacked the athleticism and at that point, he's not going to be a huge jump ball machine or someone catching every single thing thrown his way in tight coverage. I think playing in a very creative Chip Kelly offense definitely helped.
As far as Maxx goes, I honestly have to question if the route running was a lack of effort. I do agree he's tight, but I mean, almost any NFL player can run good routes if they're willing to put the effort in. That doesn't mean Maxx will ever have an amazing repertoire of routes, but I think he can definitely improve his effort and be more effective. I'm not expecting a majorly huge season where he whips out 1,000 yards or anything, but I'm also expecting a far more productive year than what Crockett Gilmore had. I did see one minicamp note in passing that said he's pretty much catching everything thrown his way, which is much of what I would expect and I think just having those ridiculously strong hands, and a really big tendency to just makes plays, will mean he'll be getting some serious work in the passing game.
I think I read somewhere that Crockett Gilmore actually bulked up, so I would not expect him to be making major contributions outside of the red zone as a receiver, so Maxx is likely to be the guy. I also think he'll have a really fair chance to be a blocker because Gilmore could use some work even as a blocker and Maxx at least gives great effort and appears to have a firm base skill set as a blocker that should improve with weight room training.
I heard them say the bulk was actually a good thing for him as far as being a receiving option. They said he has looked faster as well.
dont really need proof. just common sense.
I mean it's not really common sense. You're acting like it's already a fact that there is no way that Maxx can start. If Maxx starts tearing it up in TC and out performs Gillmore, than he will more than likely start. You always start your best players. I'm not saying that he will start, but you don't know for sure that he won't. Unless you have a link with an actual quote from John Harbaugh that there is no chance of him starting, than there is a chance he could perform well and start. So you can't really act like it's a fact.
Maxx isn't starting. Get over it.
Proof that he isn't starting for sure? I mean he may not start, but you can't say you know for sure.
Melvin and Asa are above him on the depth chart, he might be the 6th.
Nobody is above anyone behind Arrington, they'll have to earn the 4th spot.
The idea that Ozzie "loved" Elam is an exaggeration. It was a lackluster draft class overall that year and everyone knew that going in. We were picking at 32, Elam was a glorified early 2nd round pick in what we knew was a bad class. Of course Ozzie talked highly of him, he was our top pick. What is he supposed to say "We didn't have a trade partner to move back and we had to make a pick".
I do think Ozzie & co. expected more out of Elam than we've received thus far but I don't for a second think Ozzie "loved" anyone available that late in such a weak class. I don't think it compares to Perriman at all, this was a good draft class, we had a better pick, and it didn't feel like "Well, we have to make a pick, let's take whoever's left that we have rated the highest". It felt like we were sweating out Perriman even making it to us from the time the Texans were on the clock at 16 overall. It sounded to me like we were going to be thrilled if Peters, Perriman, or Dupree even made it to 26.
Not to mention Ozzie and Co loved Perriman and had him rated as a first rounder before his combine that made everyone else like him.

Ravens put a waiver claim on Swearinger.
Ya the Buccs get him, but we don't really need another safety imo. Not disappointed at all. I would like to get Arrington and fortunately I don't believe he has to go through waivers.

Not Iowa please, I'm a huge Iowa fan but their offense is never very good. Other than a solid running game. But I know the Kirk Ferentz will never go to the NFL, he's gotten the call before and declined. And the OC for Iowa isn't very good lol.
