Another thing that is AWESOME about this draft is all the young players who could not crack the starting line-up last season or even get much playing time are seeing more young competition coming in this could be the thing to light a fire under them and get them motivated to get on the field. Young pass rushers, DL, MLB and DB it will be fun and interesting to see who the starting 11 are on defense with the last 2 years of additions and the 2017 draft picks.
Today is good because a lot of guys drafted today have a chip on their shoulder just because they feel they should have went earlier or they feel they are better than some of the guys that went before them. A lot of these guys come into the league with a chip on their shoulder and tonight we get to see who has a real chip on their shoulder with the phones going crazy to try and get undrafted free agents. The nice thing about the undrafted guys is they probably have a chip on their shoulder and they actually have a say in where they play. cant wait GO RAVENS!!!
Happy to see an O-line addition. The defense has gotten better for sure and now with the pick of Siragusa this is good.
I wonder what type of undrafted free agents are going to be left at the end of tomorrow?
We seem to get at least 1 guy who has a chip on his shoulder for being passed up in the draft I just hope it is either a OL or WR this year.
Well we got a LB to compete that is a good thing.

true

Do you really think that the only way they can evaluate a guy is by bringing him into the facility and working him out? Again, we draft 6-7 guys or more every year, and most of them will have never sniffed our facility.
I can agree with you on that but the first round pick every avenue of scouting and prying should be exhausted to make sure your getting the guy you need. for the amount of money your going to pay him. Now that said yes it is less money than in years past but it is still 7 figures. I hope Humphrey does pan out and can contribute this season and not because of injury or just playing special teams this was pick number 16 that's middle of the board he should be able to contribute more than just on special teams and I truly hope he does.
Just now, Somerset Ravens said:Trades are always available. Do you really believe Ozzie didn't get any calls? This draft has a good supply of cornerbacks. I am not saying Humphrey is not a talent. With the number of needs we have we could have traded back and gotten a player who will contribute as much as Humphrey and at position of bigger need than cornerback.
well said and with all the additions to the secondary we have made this year a MLB or OLB would have been more of a need at this time.

The most amusing thing to me...fans have zero clue what even happens in a pre-draft visit. It could be a 30 minute trip to McDonalds where they talk about real estate investments for all you know.
No clue what happens during the visit, but all the sudden its important?
Quite the leap there.
Next I'm going to hear the Wunderlic is relevant...
My question is why have them if they are such a waste of time? The front offices and scouts should be managing their time more wisely then huh...
Just now, rmw10 said:Pre-draft visits are typically for guys you have questions about. If they thought Humphrey was a clean prospect, no reason to bring him in and tip their hand.
With all the pre-draft visits you cant tip your hand how many visits does each team have?
Just now, rmcjacket23 said:Who cares what fans talk about? THEY'RE FANS.
99% of them couldn't tell you who visited with us and who didn't.
This is true.
Just now, BmoreBird22 said:It will have ZERO to do with a pre draft visit...
it will be someone did not do their homework and yes pre-draft visit is part of the homework for the draft.
Just now, BmoreBird22 said:Why not?
If he does not pan out this will be talked about in the future among the fans for sure. Just not on these boards.

lol but that is low.
I wonder how many Matt Elam type picks are going to be made in this years 1st round? A guy who could be good but just turns into a total BUST!!!
sounds like the front office is trying to talk themselves and the fans into believing this was a good pick. I don't know if I like that because they should be more confident in the pick. Just my opinion.
Pass rusher in the 2nd or MLB I hope.
This is what people have been calling for on these boards the last few drafts is a CB in the first. Welcome Humphrey play like a Raven. I would have liked to seen a LB/DE at 16. Just my opinion but more of a need at this time with the recent signings to the secondary
I think it might be more difficult this year because there is more talent across the whole board.
get as many starters as possible with the draft picks.
Good news maybe this will light a fire under the WR's or put a big chip on their shoulder either way we do need more WR;'s
I like that Harbs and the coaching staff are trying to improve on the teams conditioning every year. Injuries have really hurt us in the past and a well conditioned team should help prevent some injuries. So this is a good thing.
I really like how Weddle has become a leader on and off the field in such a short time. We have seen that in the past with guys like SSS, A.Boldin and D.Mason all were good veteran leaders for the team. Weddle has the heart of a Raven and now you add Jefferson and Carr our DB's look sweet cant wait to see them and how they gel on the field.
7 minutes ago, bigcatfrank1 said:In my opinion The Ravens have one of the best DL in the NFL, no way is that an immediate need. OLB, DB and MLB are not critical any longer. The Ravens have depth and talent.
My biggest feeling is they do need immediate help at RB, at least for the first 4 games.
Yes ORT , Center and WR all are questions I definitely see a draft at each of those positions. As well the others as you mention, but no way the Ravens get 7 starters from a draft.
I hope we get 2 and 3 would be great.
my dream list- alternate reality -sure a trade up would be imminent!
rounds-in relative position-
1-Fournette
2- Cam Robinson
3- Ju Ju Smith
4- Carl orTeez Tabor
5- Ethan Pocic
6-...CB/LB hopefully (at 4)
give up one of the #3's for the trade up- and settle for 6 picks to get Fournette.
back to reality- more possible
1-Robinson LT or Williams WR
2- Lawson Edge or Tre White CB
3- Teez Tabor CB or Ju Ju Smith WR
3- Dede Westbrook WR or Carl Tankersly CB
4- Ethan Pocic C/G or Pat Elflein C/G
5 and 6 O line/D line & LB
I respect what your saying however DL, MLB, OLB, OL and WR are still very much in question we do have talent on the roster but are they good enough to start? and can we win with them? on your point about RB Fournette is AWESOME but I can argue that we have RB talent already on the roster that is good enough to start and we can win with. I do like some of the players you mentioned.
We NEED ORT, C, DL, OLB, MLB, WR and DB in this draft or players from other teams camp cuts. Those are our needs period
We have some young guys on the roster right now that can fill most those needs but will they step up and can they be effective at the starting NFL level? That's the biggest questions right now. I would like to see guys stepping up and taking the position but in years past for example WR we have had open competition and seems like no one ever wanted to step up and take the open starting job Oz always had to bring in a guy such as D.Mason A.Boldin and SSS. So I really hope some of the younger talent on the roster steps up and takes the starting role like they want it and NO ONE IS GOING TO STOP THEM FROM TAKING IT and have some serious SWAG when fighting for their roster spot.

True I agree with you NO ONE and that means NO ONE knows what any of these draft picks or undrafted free agents are going to be like at least till they get on and NFL field and play against another NFL team.
